Rock and roll icon Elvis Presley purchased a Convair 880 airliner in April 1975 and named it Lisa Marie after his daughter. He spent more than $800,000 having the jet remodeled. The aircraft featured a living room, conference room, sitting room, and private bedroom. It was outfitted with gold-plated seat belts, suede chairs, leather covered tables, 24-karat gold-flecked sinks and other amenities. Lisa Marie, which came off the Convair assembly line in San Diego, California, in 1958, is shown on display at Presley’s home, Graceland, in Memphis, Tennessee, in 2009.
