I read and re-read this article, and I’m not worried by it. Real closely.
Steven Moffat clarifies what he meant regarding representation of gay characters:
“You don’t want it to be campaigning. You don’t want to be table thumping about it. You don’t want to essentially tell children that there’s something to campaign about. You want to say this is absolutely fine and normal. There is no question to answer. You want to walk right past it, in a way. You don’t want to… If you say, as sometimes other kinds of literature or movies might, we forgive you for being gay. You’re just saying you’re gay and it doesn’t matter. There’s no issue.”
More from Steven: “Mark isn’t saying other people can’t write that version of John and Sherlock getting together. We’re not. We’re not engaging in a clever conspiracy to write something under the radar, we’re just writing the show we’re writing.”
My personal, biased take on this:
THERE IS NO CONSPIRACY because calling it a CONSPIRACY would mean THERE’S SOMETHING WRONG WITH JOHN AND SHERLOCK BECOMING A COUPLE.
But there ISN’T. “There’s no issue.”
There will be a happy ending. Another quote: “As to Sherlock’s ending, [Mark Gatiss] quipped, “Sherlock Holmes ends up keeping bees in the Sussex Downs. That was established 90 years ago.””
Mark never says Sherlock will be doing this “alone”.
“I couldn’t afford health insurance... Planned Parenthood was there for me.”
To celebrate Planned Parenthood’s 100th birthday, we’re posting 1 story every day from patients and supporters until we reach 100.
Story #20: Ashley Purdum, Planned Parenthood of New York City patient
Ashley Purdum is grateful for an IUD covered under Obamacare and for the family she is choosing to have: her husband and her dog Cliff
I was in my early 20s and couldn’t afford health insurance, Planned Parenthood of New York City was there for me. In fact, it was the only provider I visited for several
years, visiting both the Boro Hall and Margaret Sanger locations for my
yearly check-ups depending on which was closer to whatever (crappy)
apartment I was sharing (with too many roommates) at the time.
This was mid 2000’s - pre-Obamacare - and while I couldn’t see general
doctors regularly, I had peace of mind receiving a clear bill of health
and the access to my right to decide whatever healthcare decisions I was
making for my own body.
Now that I’m able to, I give back every chance I can, in hopes that other young
people continue to receive that same access to healthcare that is
unfortunately being threatened in the current tumultuous political
i’m TIRED of these houseguests, especially paul, who keep calling natalie the “victoria” of the season. she has proven, obviously not to the house, but to the viewers that she is aware of what’s going on in the house. she’s CLOCKEDT every single person’s (except zakiyah) game play. what’s holding her back is the fact that her so-called allies (james + the revolution when she worked with them) ignore anything she has to say causing her to have self-doubt when she’s 100% correct in everything. also she is a SOCIAL THREAT and these houseguests have no idea! i just need her to win a comp to prove these people wrong and rightfully put a combination of nicorey, paul, paulie, on the block.
i treat my headphones like gold lately cause my 1 eyed 3 legged cat fucking throws tantrums when im not awake or in the room and breaks shit til im. aware of her beauty??? having to hide them in spots I MYSELF can hardly reach or have to get a stool ‘cause this half together cat gonna turn them into ribbons to show me not be awake to hold her. it’s truly a blessing she can’t fucking jump.
i was moreso talking about the fact that lapis dragged malachite into the ocean and kept them there for like a year and then even admitted that she enjoyed the pain she dealt to jasper, and the fact that jasper is on earth, trapped, with nobody else on her team, and no support system (unlike what Lapis and Peridot have gotten)
but yeah you’re right Lapis has nowhere to go in the middle of the ocean, made of water, the element of which she has complete and utter control over. yeah Lapis was cornered she’s basically helpless, it’s not like she’s superstrong.
