control your portions

having a little snack while you study gives you energy and keeps you going strong! remember to have a bottle of water with you so that you can stay hydated :)
also, remember: control your portions so that you don’t go overboard! moderation is best.

  • fruit (i personally like grapes and berries since i just need to wash them. apples and bananas are good too since they’re easy to carry around with you)
  • nuts (calories for trail mix can get rlly high so nuts are a better option. sprinkle salt / cinnamon / pepper if u want a lil kick)
  • apples + peanut butter
  • whole-wheat pretzels
  • crackers + cheese
  • vegetables   (carrots, cucumbers, sugar snap peas, edamame, and broccoli are all great choices)
  • ants on a log (celery + peanut butter + raisins)
  • air-popped popcorn
  • frozen fruit   (kinda taste like popsicles!! my fav is frozen grapes)
  • fruit smoothie
  • nice cream (put some frozen bananas in a food processor and it’ll magically turn into “nice cream.” u can add mix-ins like other frozen fruits or peanut butter!!)
  • yogurt
  • applesauce
  • dried fruit
  • kale chips
  • sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds
  • pita chips
  • whole-grain graham crackers
  • salsa, guacamole, hummus, mustard (great dips for chips / veggies!!)
  • string cheese
  • english muffin (u can toast it or make a little pizza out of it with tomato sauce + cheese + veggies)
  • egg (i like soft-boiled eggs and sprinkling a little salt + pepper or sriracha is good too)
  • avocado (one half + salt + pepper = delicious. avocado toast is good too)
  • granola bar (check to make sure it’s healthy for you!)
  • banana dog bites (spread peanut butter on tortilla, wrap banana w/ it, cut it up and enjoy)

Before: 215 lbs
During: 185 lbs
This is about a year of minimal exercise, major portion control, and super clean eating choices. My best advice is not to restrict yourself completely from things and to control your portions. I eat very healthy foods, but if I crave an unhealthy food, I allow myself to have a small amount. Everything in moderation! You still need to be living while you’re dieting. I don’t focus so much on the pounds, because the way I look and feel is so much more significant than 30 pounds. I still have a long way to go but I have to feel proud for how far I’ve come!
