conservation act

I swear will ppl ever stop trying to redefine asexuality to “not having sex”, or worse, saying stuff along the lines of “no one cares you don’t wanna f*ck”.

Like my orientation is still not a behavior and I’m not interested in any crappy “justifications” for this bullshit, I just assume anyone doing this is either super ignorant about asexuality (and/)or really hates aces(+aros let’s be real) a lot so they just don’t care they’re spouting bullshit about us.

Actually if someone does the “no one cares…” version of this I’m completely sure it’s the latter lol vile. Same when ppl act like conservatives love us, like it’s funny how many ppl have done that while pretending we are the ones who don’t get how oppression works. Turns out being ace gives us no privilege, who would have thought

If conservative Christians acted like irrational SJWs

“christmas is cultural appropriation of christians”

"saying christmas doesnt have to be religious is christian erasure”

“okay but???? saying ‘oh my god’ is rly offensive to christians????????? stop contributing to microagression”

“THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE RELIGIOUS DIVERSITY IN MEDIA”

“um sweetie, saying gays can’t be christians is super homophobic and you need to reevaluate yourself”

“catholics can’t eat meat on friday, nobody else should because it might offend them. it’s literally disrespecting their culture to do otherwise.”

“if you don’t 100% support my christian lifestyle you literally hate me because its part of who i am. you cant ‘disagree’ with christianity like that. either you fully support it or you’re christianophobic”

“christians were actively persecuted by islams for centuries?????its totally reasonable to fear all muslims. they enslaved my people. check your Atheist privilege and consider the validity of your thoughts on matters that you have no right to contribute to. christians can’t be racist to islams because islams were/are the religion that oppressed us. we can be PREJUDICE but not racist. #GetWoke”

‘Breitbart’ publishes “news” about a 2010 food recall in effort to take down Kellogg’s

  • Breitbart, a politically conservative site that acts as a platform for white nationalists, is doing everything in its power to discredit Kellogg’s.
  • On Monday night, Breitbart published a story titled “Kellogg’s besieged by food product recalls over listeria, glass, metal."
  • But rest assured, cereal lovers: There’s no dangerous recall sweeping the nation right now.
  • The Breitbart article lists out five recalls, none of which have occurred in the past two months. The recalls are from the as far back as June 2010, the most recent a voluntary recall of Eggo waffles in September 2016.
  • Plus, one of the five recalls occurred in the UK. Read more

Celebrate the passage of the National Trails AND Wild and Scenic Rivers Acts with photos of the BLM river and trail segments included in the original 1968 legislation signed #OTD in 1968!

The Río Grande Wild and Scenic River, located within the Río Grande del Norte National Monument in New Mexico, includes 74 miles of the river as it passes through the 800-foot deep Río Grande Gorge. The Río Grande Wild and Scenic River provides a wide variety of recreational opportunities, luring anglers, hikers, artists, and whitewater boating enthusiasts.

In addition, the Rogue Wild and Scenic River is located in southwestern Oregon and flows 215 miles from Crater Lake to the Pacific Ocean. Some of the wildlife that calls the Rogue home include black bear, river otter, black-tail deer, bald eagles, osprey, Chinook salmon, great blue heron, water ouzel, and Canada geese.

Featuring 30 miles of the world famous Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail (PCT), Sand to Snow National Monument in Southern California is a favorite for camping, hiking, hunting, horseback riding, photography, wildlife viewing, and even skiing.

The 43-mile stretch of the PCT in southern Oregon includes countless scenic views and well-known recreation points: Mount Shasta; Pilot Rock, Hyatt Lake; Soda Mountain Wilderness; and the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument, to name a few.

This is Mhairi Black of the Scottish National Party. At 20 years old, she is the youngest person to be elected to parliament since at least the 19th century. People are going wild for her first speech, in which she attacked the Conservative government’s act of abolishing housing benefit for anyone under the age of 21 and urged Labour to join forces with the SNP in opposition.

The National Health Service is in ruins and it is entirely the fault of the Conservative Party: a deliberate act to force privatisation until there is nothing left of the real NHS. The only thing that will stop this is widespread public outrage, protests, riots and even revolution.

And, no the wreckage of the NHS has nothing to do with “immigrants”. If anything, ‘overseas’ workers at all levels in the NHS are keeping what’s left going.

When I was being trained for the job I have right now, which mainly consists of meeting, helping, and communicating with others, my boss told me that he’d like for me to under-promise and over-deliver, and i’ve never gotten that out of my head, because it means that being dependable means speaking conservatively and acting liberally on behalf of whoever I’m helping, and I love that. That isn’t my natural form of interaction. I dream big and I’m sloppy with my promises. I mean them at the time, but I often don’t follow through because I forget or I lose track of time–I speak optimistically, not realistically. He asked me to speak realistically and then to act in such a way that impresses optimism. I think that’s a great way to go about life–to be humble, to not overestimate yourself, to not speak in definitives, to leave room and grace for yourself to be fallible, and then when you’re able, go above and beyond what you said you’d do, because that’s how you become a reliable person.

like i bitch about celebrities and their moneys and self absorbed nature so much but i would still defend them to the death from conservatives who act like they aren’t allowed to talk about politics just because they’re entertainers

Stop pretending like a dictatorship is a respectable form of government.

It annoys me that Liberals (and even some conservatives these days) who act like dictatorships are somehow a respectable form of government, and anyone who challenges them is a war monger, or somehow exploiting the people of that nation. I’m sorry but some governments are not worthy of our respect.

Consider these acts of white domestic terrorism and intimidation used against black people to maintain Jim Crow and the white power structure:

The murders of James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner in Mississippi.

The violent murder of Emmett Till in Mississippi.

The violent murder of Medgar Evers, again in Mississippi.

The bombing murders of four little black girls, Addie Mae Collins, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson and Carol Denise McNair in Alabama.

The assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. in Tennessee.

The brutal harassment of would-be black patrons at a Woolworth’s lunch counter in North Carolina.

The murder of Jonathan Ferrell, again, in North Carolina.

The decapitation of James Byrd in Texas.

The murder of Walter Scott in South Carolina.

The murders of Ethel Lance, Tywanza Sanders, Cynthia Hurd, Depayne Middleton-Doctor, Clementa Pinkney, Susie Jackson, Myra Thompson, Daniel Simmons, and Sharonda Singleton, while they were at bible study, again in South Carolina.

The murders of Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis in Florida.

The disproportionately white jury that set George Zimmerman free, again, in Florida.

The Southern states that, even today, unashamedly proclaim their ‘southern pride’ by celebrating Confederate History month and Robert E. Lee day on the Martin Luther King holiday (if not on King’s birthday), and still honor the confederate flag - and all that it represents - by flying it on or near their State House Capitols, and on their public school grounds.

The grossly disproportionate prosecution and subsequent executions of black people in states like Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas.

The all volunteer, all white ‘poll-watchers' who challenged the votes of black people at polling places in Florida and other Republican controlled states during the 2012 presidential elections.

And if you compare a map of the former Confederacy to a map of the states that voted overwhelmingly for John McCain in 2008, and Mitt Romney in 2012, you will see that those maps are near perfect matches. That is not a coincidence. There is a reason for that.

There is a reason why the Civil Rights movement was born in the South, in the cradle of the Confederacy.

There is a reason why, virtually overnight, black voters exited the Republican Party in droves, and remain largely absent from it until this day.

There is a reason why, from post-Reconstruction right up until the 1970s, America witnessed a great migration wherein entire generations of black people moved to northern states, fleeing the former slave states - to escape endemic racism, Jim Crow and constant lynchings. No one, under any circumstances, should ever ignore, minimize or forget the history behind those reasons.

American history, from slavery, to the Civil War, to the Civil Rights movement, continuing through today, is the history of violent anti-blackness, repeatedly centered in, but not limited to, the American South.

Contrary to any suggestions that those ‘poor’ old southerners may have somehow been unfairly maligned, I would remind people that the confederate-flag-waving racists of the south (college educated or otherwise) still exist today, and they have thoroughly earned their reputation, and that reputation does not merit any diminution via class or political comparisons.
—  We can have discussions about the differences between overtly “southern” racism and the more covert “liberal” racism. We can (and should) also have discussions about how American anti-blackness is hardly a uniquely Southern phenomenon today. We can even have completely separate side-discussions about “classismbut make no mistakeSouthern racists haven’t disappeared, they haven’t gone away and they ABSOLUTELY DESERVE their racist reputations. #mypubliclandsroadtrip explores the Black Rock Desert of Nevada this weekend!

The Black Rock-High Rock region of Northwestern Nevada includes the longest intact segments of the historic emigrant trails to California and Oregon in the western U.S. – including wagon ruts, historic inscriptions and a wilderness landscape largely unchanged since the days of the pioneers.

The Black Rock Desert-High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area Act of 2000 protected about 120 miles of the emigrant trails, from Rye Patch Reservoir north through the vast Black Rock Desert and then the narrow gorge of High Rock Canyon.  The Act established the 800,000 acre national conservation area and the wilderness within the NCA.

Also within the NCA, the Black Rock Desert Playa covers the large dry lakebed of ancient Lake Lahontan.  The playa has grown in popularity during the past decade as a place for recreation events that need a lot of room.  The world land speed record was set here in 1997.  Amateur rocketry clubs use the playa to set world altitude records. And the playa is the location of the annual Burning Man Festival, the largest Leave No Trace event in the country.
