A mini fic I wrote based on this Tweet: https://twitter.com/LuluLemonLime83/status/897998122495787008
“Mr and Mrs Queen? What a pleasure meeting you here!” Felicity turned around when she heard that low voice, that british accent, and definitely familiar voice.
“Walter!” she answered while positioning her hand on Oliver’s arm to get his attention. Oliver raised his head with a genuine smile - a rare thing in these events. “I didn’t know you were coming to the Gala! You’re family! How come the family’s company throw a charity gala, and no one tells me you’re coming? They don’t make executive assistants as they used to.”
“At least your assistant gets you coffee. It’s more than my last one did for me.” Oliver said still with a smile on his face, and Felicity couldn’t resist smiling back. Even 15 years later, they still remember with affection the time she was his “secretary”.
“Felicity definitely wasn’t born with the gift for the secretarial arts” Walter called back their attention. “But for being a CEO on the other hand… That’s a role made for her! Queen Inc is the best it has ever been. It’s beautiful seeing a legacy that was almost over being reborn with such strength. And the social work on restructuring the city with low cost housings on the Glades has been internationally awarded. I have been following your work. Even from afar, I still consider you family ”
“As you should!” Oliver answered and turned back to Felicity. “But the company’s success is totally Felicity’s merit. She has done everything on her own, and I am so proud of her!” Felicity lowered her head with a small smile. She loves her job, and is very proud of the hard work that took years to see results, but Oliver’s eyes, so full of conviction and love… sometimes looking at him was as intense as looking at the sun. You have to take your eyes away for few seconds.
“And the children? How are they? I heard that after eight years of being the mayor, you decided to be a stay at home dad. I thought you’d be back to the corporate world with Felicity!
"Best decision I have ever made! Best to leave the business with the one who understands about the business. William is traveling around the world taking pictures” Oliver’s tone was that of someone who doesn’t necessarily agree wit his son’s career choices, but resignation was the key word there. “Moira and Mia are home with the nanny. Sleeping at this time. Connor insisted he’s old enough to go to "mommy’s events”, and only shut up once we said he could come. He’s somewhere around here" Oliver looked from one side to the other, as if searching for his seven year old mini Oliver, all dressed up in a mini suit. He should have been close.
“I can see that!” answered Walter, focusing on something behind the couple.
Oliver and Felicity turned around, and what they saw left them without reaction for a few seconds. Connor was on the stage with a small bow in hand, and some arrows on his back pocket. At that moment, he had already captivated the attention of that closer to the stage, but slowly the whole ballroom was paying attention to the naughty boy that didn’t have an ounce of shame, and was introducing himself, and saying he was going to give a bow and arrow show that daddy had taught him.
“Oliver!” Felicity said scandalized, without taking her eyes from their son, but lightly slapping her husband arm.
“On my way!” he said, also without looking at her, and hurrying to the stage.
Oliver threw that three dollar bill fake smile to the “public”, and apologized for his son, while getting him down from there. As they approached her, Felicity could hear Oliver telling their son: “What was that? Who let you get out of the house with this? And since when a pocket is a right place for holding arrows? Anyway, we have to work on that posture of yours, and also on your ability to keep secrets, buddy! I told you we couldn’t let mommy know about our special classes!”
Felicity shook her head and smiled. It’s cute how he thinks that their “special classes” were a secret…
