Berlin Schlüterstrasse 45, the Hotel Bogota. The first hotel I stayed at in Berlin. The building has an important connection to photography. Before the war the photographer Helmut Newton was an assistant in a studio on the 4th floor of this building.
The best thing for me about the @manmakecoffee community is how it keeps inspiring my travel. This image shot by @zenolution for example makes me crave a visit to Singapore. Keep ‘em coming fam. Glad we’re connected.
Someone once asked why I take so many ‘dark’ photographs and perhaps instead I should try some ‘light, happy’ ones.
I look to the drama in landscapes and powerful atmospheres to try and capture the bucolic beauty of the countryside that was so instrumental to romanticism. I try to find a way of showing a powerful emotional connection.

What excited me about this series of rose images is that they are a crossover between painting and photography. To make them I am working on large scale 6 foot by 4 foot prints, which I am physically tilting, inclining and turning to make the paint run in the desired direction. At this point this is simply wet paint on a surface and no longer has any connection to photography, it is just about the pure physicality of the paint. - Nick Knight
