congressmembers

A PSA

Anyone in NC who is trans or in a same-sex marriage who is intending to vote in the November elections should start making sure all their voter registration info is up to date now.

If you’re not registered to vote yet, don’t put it off, in case things mysteriously take longer to process for state-documented LGBT people.

NC governor pat mccrory is up for re-election. So are many of the NC Congressmembers who just made it legal for the state to deny you rights. Expect them to do everything that is now within their legal power to stop you from having a voice.

Other states are trying to pass similar laws that will affect LGBT folks in those states. Please signal boost this. This is some fucking evil bullshit.

Every administration that comes to the White House continues to treat Puerto Ricans as second-class citizens, and that is not right

Action Alert: TPP Fast Track Bill To Be Introduced Tomorrow. Call Or Email!
External image

I was on a call with Sen. Bernie Sanders last night, and he said it was very important that you email or call your congressmembers and senators this week, no matter where you think they stand on TPP. He said if we can kill it this time, it will stay dead for a long time because no one wants it to be an issue in the presidential campaign.

So call or email your electeds TODAY:

This week, a bill to give the president Fast Track authority — designed to push through the Trans-Pacific Partnership with little public debate — will be introduced in the Senate. The TPP is a disastrous trade agreement designed to protect the interests of the largest multi-national corporations at the expense of workers, consumers, the environment and the foundations of American democracy. It will also negatively impact some of the poorest people in the world.

Big corporations wrote the TPP behind closed doors.
Incredibly, while Wall Street, the pharmaceutical industry, and major media companies have full knowledge as to what is in this treaty, the American people and members of Congress do not. They have been locked out of the process.

All Americans, regardless of political ideology, should be opposed to the “Fast Track” process which would deny Congress the right to amend the treaty and represent their constituents’ interests.

Resist

Dear Friends:

We must resist. We must resist normalizing Trump. We must resist the lies and lies and more lies. We must resist the media. The head of CNN had a Trump tweet framed on his wall. Les Moonves said that Trump was great for CBS.

Our institutions have corroded before our eyes. We have allowed this. Some of us have been keyboard warriors, some of us have worked within the system. But fundamentally WE ARE THE SYSTEM. It has failed because we took our eyes off the ball. We didn’t know what to do or how to change it so we buried our heads and went about our lives and missed how unsound the foundation had become.

Our Democratic Representatives are rich and powerful. They desperately want to cling to relevancy and the power that they wield. We cannot let up. I know we all want to let up. It seems impossible. What do we do?

1. Call your Congressmember and your Senator – Tell them NO to Bannon. Tell your SENATOR NO to Bannon and Session. White Nationalists/Racists do not belong in the people’s house. Fight. Resist

2. Pay attention to when your Representative is going to be in your district. Schedule a meeting or attend a forum. Tell him or her how you feel. Resist.

3. Hold the media accountable to all of the lies. Do NOT let them normalize Trump. Do NOT let them use false language to pretend that a racist isn’t a racist.

4. Participate in your local community. Who is your Mayor? Your City Councilmember? Visit. Talk to him or her. Ask them to join you and Resist.

5. Don’t give up. Do not give up. It isn’t going to be easy. It isn’t going to be easy. We will get discouraged. But resist. Keep resisting.

Honestly, Designated Survivor feels real just because 2016 has been so fucked up nothing surprises me anymore

Inside job on the death of a major international threat? Meh. Bioterrorism? Regular Tuesday. The only two Congressmembers still alive plotting against the rest of the government? Bored now, what else you got.
