confirmation that it works

Supergirl, Alex Danvers and Sanvers fans!

There is a confirmation that Melissa Benoist (Kara), Grant Gustin(Barry), Carlos Valdes(Cisco), Josh Barrowman(Malcom Merlyn), Jeremy Jordan(Winn), Jesse L. Martin (Joe West), Victor Garber (Dr. Stein) are going to sing in the musical episode, but they didn’t confirm Chyler (Alex Danvers), as fans of previous work from Chyler, like Grey’s Anatomy, we know that she CAN sing, and SHE’S AMAZING. So…

We need to write tweets, make some noise to the writers on twitter (@SupergirlStaff  @FLASHtvwriters) to make this happen. Chyler NEEDS TO SING IN THAT EPISODE Ok! Make some noise! We need to see Alex singing I don’t care the context but Chyler deserve to shine with her beautiful voice.

Vera Rubin, the woman who discovered the first evidence of dark matter, has died at 88

  • Vera Rubin, the astrophysicist responsible for confirming the first existence of dark matter, died on Sunday night at the age of 88.
  • Carnegie Institution president Matthew Scott called Rubin “a national treasure as an accomplished astronomer and a wonderful role model for young scientist.”
  • Rubin and her colleagues observed galaxies in the 1970s, they learned the motion of stars is a result of a “material that does not emit light and extends beyond the optical galaxy” — also known as dark matter.
  • Swiss astrophysicist Fritz Zwicky proposed the idea of dark matter in 1933, but Rubin’s groundbreaking work subsequently led to the confirmation of the material.
  • This finding is what led to the discovery that 90% of the universe is made up of dark matter, a finding some colleagues felt was overlooked and deserving of a Nobel Prize. Read more

Vera Rubin, Who Confirmed Existence Of Dark Matter, Dies At 88
The astrophysicist's groundbreaking research on spiral galaxies provided evidence of invisible dark matter. She was a pioneer in an era when women were excluded from many astronomy programs.

“I live and work with three basic assumptions,” Rubin once wrote:

“1) There is no problem in science that can be solved by a man that cannot be solved by a woman.
2) Worldwide, half of all brains are in women.
3) We all need permission to do science, but, for reasons that are deeply ingrained in history, this permission is more often given to men than to women.”

Vera Rubin, the groundbreaking astrophysicist who discovered evidence of dark matter, died Sunday night at the age of 88, the Carnegie Institution confirms.

Rubin did much of her revelatory work at Carnegie. The organization’s president calls her a “national treasure.”

In the 1960s and 1970s, Rubin was working with astronomer Kent Ford, studying the behavior of spiral galaxies, when they discovered something entirely unexpected — the stars at the outside of the galaxy were moving as fast as the ones in the middle, which didn’t fit with Newtonian gravitational theory.

The explanation: Dark matter.

Adam Frank, an astrophysicist who writes for NPR’s 13.7 blog, described dark matter by comparing it to a ghost in a horror movie. You can’t see it, he writes — “but you know it’s with you because it messes with the things you can see.”

Adam continued:

“It was Vera Rubin’s famous work in the 1970s that showed pretty much all spiral galaxies were spinning way too fast to be accounted for by the gravitational pull of the their ‘luminous’ matter (the stuff we see in a telescope). Rubin and others reasoned there had to be a giant sphere of invisible stuff surrounding the stars in these galaxies, tugging on them and speeding up their orbits around the galaxy’s center.”

Report officially confirms that immigrant Melania Trump worked in the US illegally before marrying Donald

According to accounting ledgers, contracts, and related documents obtained by the AP, 20 years ago, Trump was paid for 10 modeling jobs before she was granted permission to work in the country. She earned $20,056 in the first seven weeks she lived and worked in the United States. Perhaps worst of all for the Presidential candidate, it’s looking like Donald played a big role in Melania’s getting around the law.

YOI Season 2: Yurio-centric

Well Kubo-sensei more or less confirmed a season 2 by saying she was working on a sequel but I feel her saying it was a sequel is more important than saying “the next season” because I feel and hope that the next season is going to be about Yurio and probably Otabek too entirely because:

  • There’s literally no other reason to keep similar names and their “rivalry” isn’t based off names
  • Viktuuri’s cute and it isn’t the main premise of the anime but does contribute significantly to its plot, but dragging it too far into the second season will make the ship boring after a while
  • We’ve had quite a lot of Yurio’s back story so far (like his grandfather, about his parents, how he’s the main provider for his family)
  • But we still don’t know enough about this angry kitten
  • There was no point introducing Otabek as a new friend potential lover towards the end of the season and making them have such meaningful conversations
  • There was literally no need to have that interaction unless they were planning on strengthening that bond in the coming season
  • Two episodes are not enough to show a new relationfriendship bloom into anything, especially not since, for these next two episodes and probably the next season too, they’re both going to be rivals
  • We didn’t have as many insights into Viktor’s life but he obviously ended up becoming a very important part of Yuuri’s world, and I feel Otabek speaking even that little bit about how he moved from place to place is going to play an important role in his character later on
  • As noncombustiblehowell mentioned in their post, Yurio and Otabek’s steady relationship from just friends to being very close to each other, be it platonically or romantically, would be the perfect foil to Viktuuri, whose relationship was comparatively very fast-paced and whirlwind
  • Otabek and Yuri literally went on a date? You cannot tell me the producers aren’t planning to go somewhere with this pair

2NE1 were my first mains so dealing with it right now is too painful. Instead, I’mma focus on all the good things that happened in 2016.

  • Narsha of Brown Eyed Girls got married!
  • JeA and Miryo are both working and releasing solos and also confirmed that Narsha being married won’t interfere with Brown Eyed Girls staying together. Also confirmed they’re working on a full group album.
  • Sohee, former Wonder Girls member, landed herself some great acting jobs this year!
  • Wonder Girls confirmed their dominance by slaying the charts with Why So Lonely which also sold amazingly well for current girl group standards.
  • Gyuri, Seungyeon, Hara, Jiyoung, Youngji (I think Nicole too? ) are still staying in touch and appearing together. Keep saying KARA is not dead but I don’t know what to make of it.
  • Taeyeon had a comeback as a solo artist
  • Jessica debuted as a solo artist
  • Tiffany debuted as a solo artist
  • Seohyun will debut as a solo artist
  • After School are… Still not disbanded, which is good news
  • CL seems to be enjoying herself in the US
  • Bom uploaded a video in which she said she was practicing her singing which means she has not given up. Will possibly find a new agency?
  • Minzy will debut as a solo artist
  • Jiyoon confirmed that 4Minute are still in touch, this could mean Hyuna too
  • Jiyoon (finally!) debuted as a solo artist
  • T-ara said that they no longer care whether Korea hates them or not and will stay together just to piss every K-netizen. Hyomin even liked a picture of a Chinese fan spitting on SBS’ logo for not letting T-ara win #QueensOnly
  • Amber and Luna are doing everything they can to keep f(x) alive and they’re doing a great job
  • SISTAR are still Queens. And now that 2NE1 are dead I guess that makes them Korea’s 2nd Greatest Girl Group? Good job! I remember I was so mad back in 2014 when 2NE1 didn’t get the “Best Female Group Award” at MAMA but SISTAR did. I couldn’t be a bigger idiot, I’m glad I “atoned for my sins” and love both groups now. They also killed homophobia with their MV for “One More Day”
  • Fei, Jia and Min are still in touch and they all support each other.
  • Min was confirmed to be in a relationship with G-Soul, she also liked a tweet of an asshole who was dissing her and said she should be “greateful that Suzy fed her ass all these years” . She and Hyomin should have a talkshow and just talk about all the shit they’ve heard as idols and laugh about it. Could get Bom to star with them too!
  • Suzy is still the supreme ruler of South Korea

This year we lost KARA, 2NE1 and 4Minute. miss A and After School are still on hiatus and they lost Jia and Jungah and Jooyeon respectively but they’re still officially together (former members seem to still be in touch with their bandmates too) .

But the Brown Eyed Girls, Wonder Girls, Girls’ Generation, T-ara, f(x) and SISTAR are still going strong, we should at least be grateful for that!

Producer & Blue Note President Don Was on Working on Niall Horan’s Debut: ‘He’s The Real Deal’

1D fans everywhere have been eager for updates on the second solo album due from the internet-breaking boy band’s alumni: Niall Horan, whose debut single “This Town” hit no. 25 on the Hot 100 this fall, appears to be next in line after Zayn Malik – though no release date for his project has been confirmed.

One detail Horan has shared, though, is the producers he’s been working with. In a recent letter to his fans on Dec. 5, Horan shared that he’s been in the studio with Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, James Bay) and Don Was, the Blue Note president who, as Horan put it, “is a complete legend and has produced anyone from The Rolling Stones to John Mayer to Bob Dylan.” He continued, “For me to work with this calibre of producer is pretty amazing really and I’m humbled that they wanna work with me.”

During a conversation with Was last week, it seemed that the pair had formed something of a mutual admiration society. “[Niall] showed up with a bunch of really great songs he wrote, he sings really well,” said Was. “He was thoroughly professional, humble and sweet. He spent time talking with all the musicians, hung out – everybody loved him.”

Was added that the album that prompted Horan to call him up was not what he’d expected. “I was trying to think [of what it would be], thinking of the stuff I did 30 years ago,” he said. “But it was John Mayer’s Born and Raised, which feels like a pretty recent excursion to me…but then again, [Niall]’s 23. On that record, John was trying to evoke the feeling of those old, 60’s Laurel Canyon albums – which I think we did, in a modern way. I love that record and I’m glad [Niall] liked it, even though it’s not what you would associate with One Direction. John was highly complimented when I told him about that.”

Of Horan’s debut solo single – Was produced the 1 Mic 1 Take version – he said, “It’s a real solid song,” adding that much of what they’ve recorded for the album shares its aesthetic. “He’s the real deal, man,” Was concluded. “I’m so impressed with this guy.”

anonymous asked:

The sweet potato fries scandal? Do explain 😈

basically phil tweeted this early last year:

and only 25 minutes after, dan tweeted this:

seems legit. the only thing is uh… dan doesn’t have a tv in his room.

he tried covering this up by saying he was just watching netflix on the computer:

except it didn’t work bc it was later confirmed that dan and phil had been watching the same tv show. and we all know dan and phil can’t binge watch a tv show without each other

I get this feeling that Blizzard won’t come out and announce that anyone is straight. Like, they’re not going to release a spreadsheet of everyone’s sexualities, but they are going to tell us a few characters who are explicitly NOT straight. So I’m just going to assume no one is Overwatch is straight. You know. Until I get “canon confirmation” that they are. That’s how this works, right?

It is being reported that ‘Cloak and Dagger’ will begin filming in New Orleans in February. As of yet this production date is not confirmed and should be treated as a rumor, however the show’s working title is confirmed to be ‘Shadows’ and the first season will have a budget of $42million and air on Freeform in 2018!
