Sonnenuntergang an der Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg - it’s a concert hall in the HafenCity quarter of Hamburg, Northern Germany. It’s one of the largest and most acoustically advanced concert halls in the world. The new glassy construction resembles a hoisted sail, water wave or quartz crystal; it sits on top of an old warehouse building near the historical Speicherstadt. It was officially inaugurated with concerts of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and a light show in January 2017.
When I was in Munich I saw Robert Aitkin perform for the first time and what a pleasure it was!!! He is 77 years old and his playing is fantastic! It would be impressive if he was in his 30′s but he’s in his 70′s?!?! and plays like THAT??!?! I was so so impressed. And he talked a lot before each piece, talking about the history, the composer, the music…. I’m so grateful I went to this flute festival it was the best I’ve ever been in and had so much fun! I learnt so much :) Forgive the poor quality images it was with my crappy phone ;) but thought I would share an image of the moment. He really is a fantastic player, and a fantastic musician!
