Hello! Are you taking Adoribull Prompt Sunday prompts this week? If the answer is yes, here's a little thought: 'the space between'.
The idea for this worked better in my head, I think. Still, I’m kind of desperately in love with Bull as an investigative reporter.
Bull slid his money across the bar and tipped his head toward the gorgeous guy sitting all by himself. When the drink made it to him, he zeroed in on Bull, who smiled and raised his own glass. The guy’s answering smile was electric.
He took a sip and then joined Bull at his corner of the bar. “Thank you.” He had a great voice, smooth and low.
“It’s a pleasure.” And it was a shame that he wasn’t there looking to pick him up. “Are you Dorian Pavus?”
The smile on his face faded and it was a kick in the gut to see him close up. “You have me at a disadvantage.”
“The Iron Bull. I’m a reporter for The Nightingale. I’m working on a story about The Space Between and the mystery man behind Rilienus’ songs.”
Dorian drained his drink in one long swallow that stretched out his magnificent throat and then set the glass down with more force than necessary. “I’m afraid I can’t help you.”
“All of Thedas knows his side of the story, wouldn’t it be nice to tell yours?”
“I’m not the man you’re looking for. Thank you for the drink.” He got up and wound his way out of the bar.
Bull returned the next night and the night after. He’d been tracking leads on Rilienus’ ex for months and he wasn’t ready to give up after one conversation. Making the connection between the man in the songs to Dorian Pavus had been almost impossible. Finding the man himself was surprisingly easy.
“Should I put out a restraining order?”
Bull looked up and smiled. Dorian hovered at his shoulder, irritation sparking off him like lightning. “Just having a drink, big guy. Can I get you something?”
Bull paid for Dorian’s drink and then motioned to a table on the far side of the bar. It was private, but not secluded. A place Dorian could get out of, if he wanted.
“No one’s ever found me, before.”
He took a sip and leaned back. “There’s nothing to tell, there’s no story here. You’ve heard the album.”
“I have. And it sounds pretty selfish.” Rilienus had a good voice and he had the money for good musicians and producers. But the songs that made Ferelden swoon put Bull off. They sounded like the ramblings of a man who didn’t know what he wanted.
Dorian rubbed at the corner of his mouth. “We met in school. He didn’t want to be out and I went along with it. He was happy to keep us a secret and I wanted more. Selfish, I suppose. Ironic, too, considering the whole world knows he prefers men, now.
“That doesn’t sound like ‘not a story’ to me. Let me interview you. Let me tell your side.” He was pretty sure Dorian was going to say no, but it was his job to ask.
“No, thank you. Let him have his moment.” He drained his glass and then leaned back. “The only thing I need is another drink.”
“I think I can do that.” The story might have been a wash, but his night was starting to look up.
damian wayne because id love to hear what u have to say
-Favorite design: i like his robin design but look forward to the day when he graduates from robin to either Independent Hero or Batman and gets the all-black ensemble he deserves
-Least favorite design: i don’t think i’m well read enough in bat stories to have one and i’m better off for that
-Favorite ship: in current canon, none
-Favorite friendship: damian and maya ducard namely because i’m not entirely fond of the jon and damian dynamic and also because i feel like maya is a character more like damian: good concept/bad execution
-One thing I’d change: damian would be visibly and textually mixed, so you’d see more of his cultural/ethnic identity on page and learn about his struggle with reconciling his identities from the point of view of bruce’s being the foreign identity (as it should be)
-A random headcanon: i don’t know how many languages bruce knows canonically, but if he did know arabic (and for the purposes of this headcanon he would know msa) damian would only ever use dialect arabic (@ dc please confirm ra’s/talia/damian’s ethnicities) around him to bruce’s endless frustration (he slips and uses dialect arabic while on the phone with talia and she is Not Happy)
-A story I’d write for them: i really love the idea of inverting the alien trope in western literature of the Other being middle eastern and making the western the Other instead so in a story i’d write for damian it would be early on in his relationship with bruce (rejecting all canon for this period) where bruce’s world is this otherworldly experience for damian and so he grounds himself in his mother’s culture. he teaches alfred how to cook the same kinds of food he ate at home and fills the wayne mansion with reminders of home and instead of seeing damian as some kind of feral animal that needs to be domesticated we see bruce as just that. instead of bruce humanizing damian, we would see damian humanize bruce
Can we talk about Kingdom Hearts for a moment? I mean REALLY talk about it?
How bout the fact that it’s existence is through a chance meeting between a Square Enix employee and A DISNEY EXECUTIVE? DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND HOW CRAZY THAT IS? THAT DOESN’T JUST HAPPEN! GOD WILLED THIS GAME INTO EXISTENCE! I’M CONVINCED OF IT BECAUSE THE RESULT WAS JUST SO AMAZING!
