concealer paletter

I realized yesterday that the batfam definitely has to use makeup frequently to cover bruises from all their vigilante-ing, so it got me thinking and

  • Bruce is the King of Invisible Makeup. He’s been doing this the longest and he’s gotten really, really good at covering bruises and cuts in a way that looks like he isn’t wearing any makeup. Probably has the color lineup of his favorite concealer brand memorized, can usually match someone’s skin color on the first try.
  • If any of the Justice League members ever noticed and made a comment on it he would just turn to them and say “Not all of us can heal bruises instantly.” in That Voice™ and they’d immediately shut up.
  • Dick grew up in the circus, so obviously he’s been using stage makeup since he was very young. He is by far the most skilled at makeup application – his blending techniques are legendary. Probably wears a light bb cream sometimes just for the heck of it, because it makes his skin look nice and who needs gender roles?
  • Barbara doesn’t wear makeup every day, and when she does she keeps it pretty natural. Is the queen of drugstore makeup because why would she spend $40 on an eyeshadow palette when there’s an almost identical one at Walgreens for $11.99???
  • Jason doesn’t bother to cover his bruises with concealer or foundation like the others because he doesn’t really have much of a civilian identity anyway. Besides, bruises and split lips are kind of part of his aesthetic. Has definitely experimented with eyeliner at some point and probably still wears subtle smoked-out kohl sometimes because he likes how it makes his eyes look even more green.
  • Tim is so pale that he sometimes has trouble finding concealer and foundation that matches his face?? He uses a different brand because the brand Bruce likes has a lot of yellow tones and it doesn’t look right on Tim’s ivory skin. This brand doesn’t stay put as well as Bruce’s, so he has to reapply several times over the course of the day. Because of this, Tim has at least one concealer palette on him at all times.
  • Stephanie is the most into makeup out of all of them. She watches makeup tutorials for fun and to learn new techniques, and unlike Barbara she’ll sometimes shell out for an expensive product if it’s really good. Is the queen of contouring, and has been known to wear red lipstick on patrol. She and Dick exchange application tips and product recommendations.
  • Damian was resistant to wearing makeup when he first joined Team Batman, because he’s always been taught that injuries sustained in battle are an honor and should be worn with pride, but he realizes that to preserve his civilian identity he has to look like he doesn’t get beaten up regularly. He was absolutely appalled when he found out about animal testing in the cosmetics industry, and he made everyone switch over to certified cruelty-free products.
  • Cass doesn’t go out much so she doesn’t really bother with makeup. She doesn’t like how it feels on her face. If she ever has to wear makeup for whatever reason she’ll probably ask Stephanie or Barbara to do it for her.
  • NO ONE in the fam has the same skin color, so there’s always approximately six thousand concealer palettes laying around the Batcave. It’s a mess.
  • If Stephanie runs out of highlighter, she’ll use Tim’s foundation because it’s light enough to be a highlight on her lmao
  • Tim, Damian, and Cass are all really bad about forgetting to wash their makeup off before they go to bed and it stresses Dick and Stephanie out so much bc like??? It’s so bad for their skin??? They’re going to get premature wrinkles do they not love themselves
  • Jason tries to wash his makeup off before bed but usually can’t get all of his eyeliner off so imagine… Jason, still half-asleep, drinking coffee in his pjs… leftover black eyeliner smudged all around his eyes… he’s like a disgruntled racoon

idk I just really love makeup and really, really love the batfam

from a while back

this look was inspired by the one in this video by @meghaljanardan and @natashajanardan, minus a few steps! i just wore this to class so i didn’t add in the green/gold or black accents, but otherwise my technique was mostly the same.

Hi I was wondering if you knew about certain shades of certain products? Specifically foundation/base products and lip products? This might be dumb but sometimes I really like how their entire colour scheme works and would love to know specifics. Also for colour matching in certain brands. If you don't know then that's fine but if you know what shades they wear that'd be great. Thanks!!! I love your blog!!!

Hi ^^ this is a quite hard question because i rarely do the decorative part of makeup myself, thus im afraid i cant explain how specific color scheme ‘works’. but lets see what can i do…

Most of products mentioned here can also be found under the makeup tag.

Base

Basically, skin tone and undertone are important to determine which colors that can look flattering on your skin (if that makes sense).

Bangtan themselves used MAC foundations in the past (Pro Longwear and Studio Fix Fluid). But i have no idea about their skin tone because most of their pics are whitewashed since i never see them in person.

I’ve spotted a concealer palette from MAC (as seen on Kayonenka dvd). The palette has 4 shades: NC 30, NC 35, NW 25, and NW 35. One of those shades has to be Taehyung’s skin tone since the MUA applied the concealer on him. It was probably used on Hoseok and Namjoon as well since both of them also have medium skin tone (i could be very wrong though so please take this info with consideration).

I also want to point out that their MUA mixed 2 shades of foundation to match Jimin’s skin tone (this was back in 2015).

I think you might want to consult @sunnyoongi regarding this matter (Bangtan’s skin tone and undertone) as they’re running a restoration blog and have met Bangtan irl.

And you can use this website if you want to know the equivalents of MAC foundation shades from other brands.

I also got some mags and cat food, which ups the total to about 441.98.

This is my biggest haul and probably the beginning of me really going big. After three tries, i finally found a combo of magnets that actually works on most tags! It requires a bit of fiddling, but I get there.

So I went to p@csun and the magnets didnt work on their tags, but that gorgeous velvet romper, which is the reason I went in the first place, was UNTAGGED!! It was also the only one left in my size, so it was meant to be. I know that’s sus, so I won’t be going back there for awhile. (I can’t anyway cuz my magnets don’t work there).

They didn’t count at V$, and i managed to find one bra not tagged and not on a hanger, so I stuck the tag and hanger from the robe on that and left it all in the dressing room. I don’t think I was even a little sus.

Then at eff21, the girl did count, so I detagged and put them on untagged stuff. There was one left over so I double tagged a denim jumper and brought it out with me. And then I concealed on the floor. I haven’t had to do that, so I didn’t get all the jewelry I wanted because once I had concealed the clothes, i decided I had pushed my luck and faked a call and dumped my bag.

Then I went to SEPHORA!!! I’ve avoided that place cuz it’s so hard, but I finally managed to get two lipsticks. I was CS’d a bit, but I don’t think they were sus, just doing their jobs.

And then ulta was deserted and I was never approached. I grabbed two of everything but the palette and concealed in cheap skincare and hair accessories. That palette was the ONLY one in the building without a white box of death!! It wasn’t even RFIDed!! I can’t believe my luck. Although I’m not crazy about that palette. It might be my brushes, but it doesn’t seem very pigmented.

The rest was easy. The jewelry I had already done two days prior because I was mad my magnets before didnt work.

Anyway, this was my luckiest haul yet!! I looooove all my stuff!!!

These are two of my favorite products to clean up my brows.

On the left is the NYX concealer palette ($12). Lots of shades, you can mix them and also color correct, so you get a lot of use from it. On the right is the MAC studio finish concealer ($20). A little product goes a long way. It looks small but this will last you forever! For me a creamy concealer works best when cleaning up my brows. It all depends on the type of consistency you like and what your budget is.
