Vote for my artwork on Tallenge!

Hey everyone, a follower of mine suggested that I submit my artwork to an online competition at Tallenge.com. I’m not a huge fan of competitions because I often feel like I’m not good enough or have very little chance of winning, but I thought I would give it a go. It would mean a lot if you could spare a vote for my artwork, The Colours Fade. I appreciate your time.

Branch Technology 3D Prints Building Walls with Worlds Largest Freeform 3D Printer Launches 3D Printed Home Competition!

Many have not noticed the potential that lies within 3D printing with the construction industries. Almost recently that architects and builders around the world have realized its benefits: reduction to workforce and savings in construction cost.

Platt Boyd has been one of the few who has recognized how 3D printing’s future within architecture and construction is too beneficial to pass up on. Branch Technology, a Chattanooga, Tennessee-based startup already announced that it is the first company to successfully construct building walls at scale using the world’s largest freeform 3D printer.

This company is now announcing that it will sponsor the world’s first design contest to 3D print a home, starting September and culminating it with a $10,000 prize and the construction of a 3D printed home in Chattanooga.

Over the course of the last several months, Branch has created many intricate 3D printed demo pieces of the walls many in which are strongly based on natural forms, combining light-weight architecture and super strong engineering.

“It bridges art and function and I’m excited to see how it will change the way we think about the spaces where we live and work,” explains Shawn Thorne of Branch Technology. “We can’t wait to show you what the final products can look like.”

Joe Herbert, author of Testosterone, discusses the role of testosterone in aggression and competition:

“Although testosterone makes men competitive and aggressive, it also makes them cooperate and form gangs or groups that identify themselves from others. For example, sports teams, bikers, and even gangs. Testosterone makes them want to fight to defend their group or attack another group to get extra resources if necessary. The immature brains of young men, together with testosterone, make them vulnerable to charismatic leaders and they easily become fanatics prone to aggression.

Testosterone levels in men vary quite markedly from time to time. They increase in men faced with a challenge. For example, in surgeons, testosterone levels rise before carrying out more complex operations. Winning a competition or a game also increases testosterone - not only in the players but in their supporters.”

More and more athletes are getting in to trouble for illegally trying to increase their levels of testosterone to gain an unfair advantage.
