comically oversized

Collarbone

A/N: This… is disgusting, plotless, irredeemable fluff. I’m sorry.

“What’ll it be, hon?”

This waitress can’t be for real. She’s ambiguously middle-aged, with poorly-bleached, preposterously floofy hair piled on top of her head. Wide hips, blue eyeshadow, one bad tooth - the works. She’s like a caricature. Hell, she’s even chewing gum, smacking it cheerfully between her tongue and her teeth. She’s unbelievable, is what she is. This whole diner is unbelievable. And true to his penchant for unbelievable things, Mulder is absolutely delighted.

“You can’t keep me locked up here forever,” Liz said, wriggling her arms in her bonds.

“I can very well try!” the sorcerer sneered, leaning down to meet her eye-to-eye. “Just a few more days, yes, and you’ll be the perfect ingredient for my brew!”

Battle sounds echoed throughout the tower and the sorcerer turned, distracted. “What is that?”

Liz grinned. “I told you, you can’t keep me here forever.”

“A prince, coming to rescue you, is it?” the sorcerer snapped, scowling. “I’ll go deal with this myself! Say goodbye to your special one!”

They strode from the room, rolling up comically oversized sleeves, and Liz continued to struggle.

Meet the culmination of bad ideas, terrible marketing, over pricing, and poor business partnerships. Otherwise known as the Pioneer LaserActive. This behemoth was released in 1993 as a “high end” gaming console poised to compete against the Phillips CD-i and the 3DO; but in a brilliant marketing move, required the consumer to purchase add-on modules in order to play games. There were several modules (called PACs) released, the most popular being the Sega Genesis/CD PAC and to a lesser degree, the NEC TurboDuo PAC. There were others released such as a karaoke and computer interface PAC, the latter allowing you to hook it up to a home computer. The LaserActive retailed for about $950 and the Sega and NEC PACs going for about $600 each, relegating it to an extremely niche market of rich kids with no friends. The LaserActive played comically oversized proprietary 8" or 12" Laserdiscs (a precursor to DVD’s) as well as standard CD’s. If you had the appropriate PAC, it also played Sega Genesis, Sega CD, TurboGrafx and TurboCD games. The console had very few exclusive games, but mostly consisted of adding FMV or cd audio to games that were already on the Genesis or TurboGrafx. Sufficed to say, it didn’t stay on the market for too long. Oddly enough, Pioneer continued making Laserdisc players all the way up to 2009 before finally retiring the format! This system definitely has an interesting history and I hope to own one someday, but it has very little to offer beyond being just a cool collection piece.

Hey Dovne! I love your art, but I super love your depictions of trans characters. Do you know any other artists that depicts them in the same way you do, and not the small body frames with comically oversized genitalia that seems to be everywhere?

hi! thank you! im glad you dig how i draw

as for other artists, i really like how megumigoo and simulcrament draw trans/nonbinary characters a lot!!! (links are nsfw)
and there’s plenty more, i just can’t remember right now

@mattsheean and I did the cover for Island #7, which will include part 3 of Ancestor. The lineup is real good in this issue:

ISLAND #7  STORY / ART: BRANDON GRAHAM, LIN VISEL, MATT SHEEAN, MALACHI WARD, & MICHAEL DEFORGE FEBRUARY 17 / 112 PAGES / FC / T+ / $7.99 The ongoing oversized comics magazine continues with the third chapter of MATT SHEEAN and MALACHI WARD’s “Ancestor,” and introduces new stories by MICHAEL DEFORGE(Lose, Ant Colony) and LIN VISEL (Slipshine).

It makes me absurdly happy to realize that it’s possible to say “Remember Tunnel 17” in D'ni (“rifoonah bishtah heegahbree”).

Digger peered at the contraption. Whoever owned the island, she thought, clearly didn’t think it worth their time bothering with instructions.

Or beds. Or latrines. Or a kitchen, for that matter.
There was a perfectly functioning boiler in one of the buildings but, for reasons that eluded her, it was apparently rigged to power up a tree.
“That is a waste of perfectly good steam, if you want my opinion,“ Digger had said to no one in particular, before stomping off to the opposite side of the island.

She would have very stern words about home building with this Atrus person, once (or if) she’d been able to find them.

The wombat sighed and tapped the comically oversized gear with her pickaxe, nodding silently to herself. The stone work was excellent, at least. That had to count for something.

hey,, remember this post, where no one asked me for my hamilton stagings but i provided them in extensive detail anyway.   GOOD.  here is the follow-up post that no one asked for.  here i will, again, elaborate on the visions that plague me, night and day.

ie.

  • idk WHY but when burr approaches angelica in the schuyler sisters, i imagine eliza taking a piece of gum out of her mouth and sticking it on the back of his head
  • samuel seabury standing at an official pulpit  thing during farmer refuted.. hamilton just grabs a random bench and plunks it down six feet away so theyre both standing there w competing proclamations,,
  • a bunch of courtiers wheeling king george iii onstage in his comically oversized throne for ‘you’ll be back’.  they collapse, wheezing & panting, once the throne is in place
  • eliza crossing the front of the stage when walking down the aisle, throwing the audience a huge ;DDDDD expression before facing forward seriously
  • more eliza & hamilton but he gets down on one knee during “i swear to god you’ll never feel so helpless”  and even tho she already knows shes gonna marry him ELIZA LOSES IT and happily sings “I DO I DO I DO”  and just… just straight up tackles him, knocks him over.  they roll around on the floor then get up all embarrassed
  • peggy gettin SMASHED during the ball in helpless/satisfied bc no ones paying attention to her anyway.  a wine glass in each hand, chug chug

also

  • charles lee wears heelys
  • ”im a general, WHEEEEEE” *speeds across the stage*

i still havent gotten any sleep thanks
