Ed Sheeran saves young beating victim in Liberia

Ed Sheeran dug deep during his recent Comic Relief trip to Africa, paying for a hotel to rescue six children from abuse.

The singer presented his film about life for the impoverished children of Liberia as part of Britain’s Red Nose Day telethon on Friday (24Mar17) and then revealed he couldn’t just shoot the footage and chat to the kids, many of whom had been raped and beaten.

In one touching clip, he sobbed as a young girl called Peaches, who had lost her father during the Ebola crisis, sang to him.

“The last thing I always wanted this trip to be was be a celebrity that comes to Africa and cries on TV,” he said. “I really wanted to come away saying everything is positive and everything is great and then I was just singing with that girl and she was all smiling and then she started crying.

"Her dad taught her how to sing and she got really choked up about it. I watch Comic Relief every single year and this is always what celebrities do.”

Viewers watched as the emotional Shape Of You singer, 26, fought back tears and debated what he could do to help the troubled desperate, young Africans after meeting a young boy being beaten by an older man. He opted to pay for the boy and his five friends to be housed in a nearby hotel and schooled.

“It doesn’t matter how much it costs,” he said.

Earlier in the evening, Sheeran got this year’s (17) Red Nose Day telethon off to a great start by kissing comedian Greg Davies after the funnyman insisted Comic Relief rules stated the event’s musical guest had to kiss the tallest host.

What’s the reason why
We long for someone to embrace

The Only Thing Worth Remembering About From 2015: the rebirth of “Larry Stylinson” & watching them rise.

Harry and Louis are the Stevie and Lindsey of the mermaid-tattoo-era stadium-rock eye-contact game. Louis’ eyes are dark, intense, controlling, with a surly "damn your love, damn your life” edge. Harry’s eyes say “I hear the darkness you’re expressing and it’s important to me but my heart tells me to twirl right now,” so he twirls and touches his hair. The brooding look vs. the beatific twirl. When one of them gets happy, the other gets wistful. When one of them gets bitchy, the other gets sugary. I could watch them sing together for hours. I could probably watch them do laundry for hours. (I doubt they do laundry.)“ - Rolling Stone Magazine (2015)

So I finally got Darkseid War: Green Lantern comic today.

For many nonbinary people, the New Year is the time when they remember all the things that didn’t come to fruition or ended in the previous year.

You may not have come out like you wanted to. Your transition may not be as far along as you’d hoped. You may remember that this year loved ones aren’t here to celebrate because they don’t accept your orientation, gender, etc.

But the New Year can also represent possibility.

There are possibilities of a new family made up of friends, greater progress toward transition, more freedom to be yourself, or even just maintaining a skill a bit longer, thereby gaining more experience.

You have a new chance. You can embrace it.

Happy New Year
