iiaat to struggle to sleep in a bed that isnt yours? i struggled with sleepovers as a kid and would always call my parents late crying saying i wanted to come home (it wouldnt happen until i had to sleep) and i usually have meltdowns at hotels, and i just cant sleep in a bed that isnt my own or my sisters (i used to sleep in that room though) and there's not really a reason it just feels wrong and bad and i just have to sleep in mine or my sisters bed??
I have the same problem and I think it’s due to a combination of things. First, there is the sensory aspect. Often, we craft our beds into sensory safe-havens. Our beds are places of comfort and security because it is a sensory environment that we control. Going elsewhere means that all the sensory stuff is out of whack.
Further, this also likely relates to internal rules regarding where we are supposed to sleep. Other places are Wrong because they don’t fit our internal rules which tend to be very strict.
