GULF OF ADEN (Feb. 3, 2015) Corporals Bryce B. Lindsey, left, and Xavier A. Holzendorf, both landing support specialists with Combat Logistics Battalion 24, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, connect four pallets of cargo to a CH-53E Super Stallion during helicopter support team training aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), in the Gulf of Aden.

Marines with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment and Combat Logistics Battalion 24 are seen carrying explosives through the eye hole of a demolition bunker during a demolition range in Djibouti. A contingent of MEU Marines was ashore in Djibouti as part of sustainment training to maintain proficiency while deployed. The 24th MEU is embarked on the ships of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group and deployed to maintain regional security in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
