What to do if you suddenly find yourself homeless

FOOD

  • Find your nearest food bank or mission, for food
  • grocery stores with free samples, bakeries + stores with day-old bread
  • different fast food outlets have cheaper food and will generally let you hang out for a while.
  • some dollar stores carry food like cans of beans or fruit

SHELTER

  • Sleeping at beaches during the day is a good way to avoid suspicion and harassment
  • sleep with your bag strapped to you, so someone can’t steal it
  • Some churches offer short term residence
  • Find your nearest homeless shelter
  • Look for places that are open to the public
  • A large dumpster near a wall can often be moved so that flipping up the lids creates an angled shelter to stay dry

HYGIENE

  • A membership to the YMCA is usually only 10$, which has a shower, and sometimes laundry machines and lockers.
  • Public libraries have bathrooms you can use
  • Dollar stores carry low-end soaps and deodorant etc.
  • Wet wipes are all purpose and a life saver
  • Local beaches, go for a quick swim
  • Some truck stops have showers you can pay for
  • Staying clean is the best way to prevent disease, and potentially get a job to get back on your feet
  • Pack 7 pairs of socks/undies, 2 outfits, and one hooded rain jacket

OTHER

  • first aid kit
  •  sunscreen
  •  a travel alarm clock or watch
  •  mylar emergency blanket
  •  a backpack is a must
  •  downgrade your cellphone to a pay as you go with top-up cards
  •  sleeping bag
  •  travel kit of toothbrush, hair brush/comb, mirror
  •  swiss army knife
  •  can opener
Dear men

Lotion matters. Combing and brushing your hair matters. Trimming and cleaning your nails matters. Brushing your tongue matters. Oiling your scalp matters.

Don’t be ashy and raggedy just because you a dude. Take care of yourselves and have some pride.

Witch Tips for City Witches

City Witch Tips for all of my fellow witches stuck in apartments, dorms or other city areas.

  • If you can’t burn incense you can make your own sprayable incense by mixing alcohol (usually vodka or rubbing) with essential oils and a bit of oil, spray in the air to act like incense
  • If you are unable to go outside for whatever reason to get rain water (in my case just no where to collect it safely), fill a jar or glass with regular water and keep it near a cracked window to charge it with the wind, sound and scent of the rain outside. Same goes for storm water
  • Trapped in city and unable to get ocean water? Sea salt mixed with rain/storm water can be an excellent substitute
  • To continue on with water substitutes, if you can’t collect snow crushed ice from your fridge will suffice
  • Low key warding/protection you can use: spray moon water, salt water or sprayable incense about your apartment or dorm, place sigils under doormats, furniture, inside cupboards, etc; place crystals about hidden or out in the open, sweep and dust out the door or towards windows
  • If you need melted wax to seal a jar or for any other magical purpose, but can’t burn candles, by a wax melter and melt that wax and imagine the light from the burner acting like a flame (plus they are rather cheap, I got mine for 25 bucks)
  • Need stars in your craft but too much light pollution? Glow in the dark stars on your ceiling or wall can work just as well for visualization. Print out pictures of your favorite constellations or planets and place them up on your walls or on your altar. Live video feed of the night sky can also be easily found on the internet
  • Bath magic is amazing for low-key ‘in the woods’ witches. Use teas, milk, oils, herbs, bath bombs, bubble baths, salts, etc that relate to your intent. It is also a good place to meditate if you have roommates or family around that would disturb you otherwise
  • If you do for whatever reason need to burn a candle, birthday candles are small, melt fast, and don’t create a lot of smoke or smokey scent
  • Sigils are another great low-key form of magic. To boost them up, use color magic related to the color you draw them in, write them using quills made of feathers related to your intent, use colored paper, rub a drop of essential oil on them, charge them with crystals or in your windowsill
  • You don’t have to burn sigils to activate them, which is hardly an option when you are in a dorm or apartment. Other options are: Shredding them, erasing them, soaking them in a bath or shower, using body heat or your own pulse, etc
  • Miss having the outdoors and plants around? Windowsill gardens can really help. Small plants you can consider keeping in your windowsill or counter-tops: succulents, cacti, bamboo, lemongrass, basic, rosemary, mint, rosemary, mosses, aloe, snake plant, pothos (and other vines), carrots, beets, shallots, lettuce, spinach, garlic, chives, parsley, oregano, thyme, and marigold
  • Open your window to let the wind and air from outside to help energize you and clear out negative energies inside
  • Fun places to put sigils: under furniture, carved into soap, onto shampoo/conditioner bottles, on your make up, inside phone cases, in shoes, under bandages, sewn into pillow cases and blankets, behind pictures in frames, underside of nail polish, carved into wax squares for your wax melter, keys and keychains, behind mirrors or in medicine cabinets, on bookmarks, on or in binders and pencil cases, on medicine bottles, and water bottles/travel mugs
  • Easy to make and dispose of poppets: carrot sticks (one of my personal favorites), apples or other fruit, clothe, paper, popsicle sticks, paper towels/napkins, toilet paper rolls, eggs, celery stocks, and cotton balls
  • The internet is an amazing thing. Need some sounds to help you focus or meditate? Easily look up the sounds of rain, storms, wind, ocean waves, jungles, forests, etc
  • Christmas lights are fun and great way to use discrete witchcraft. Select ones in the colors you wish for them to bring ie green for growth, yellow for inspiration, white for protection, purple for psychic abilities, etc.
  • Some everyday things you can use for discrete witchcraft that don’t cost much at all or that you most likely already have: water, table salt, black pepper, paper, crayons/pencils/pens/markers, vinegar, milk, tea, highlighters, make up and beauty supplies, shampoo and conditioner, rubber bands, paperclips, thumbtacks, computer/phone/tablet, music/music player, playing cards, dice, air freshener, perfumes, toothpaste, rice, flour, sugar, honey, and all kitchen herbs and seasonings.
  • Can’t afford gemstones or crystals on college budget? Crackle and dyed quartz you can find super cheap at craftstores and online. I bought a whole bag for 4 bucks. Use them based on their colors and shapes. Can’t afford that but still want to use rocks in your craft? Find some rocks you like outside, again use their colors and shapes to determine their correspondences. Want to use them for a specific purpose? Paint sigils on them in the color that corresponds with what you want! Charge them in your windowsill or with your own energy and intent. There you go!
  • Pocket mirrors are cheap, easy to carry around and great for glamours and on the go magic.
  • Seriously though, glamour spells are going to be a good option for you. use your make up, skin products, hair care products, brushes/combs, perfume, mirrors, toothbrush/toothepaste and intent. Good to do while you are getting ready for your day
  • Dream magic is another friend of the city witch! Use crystals, sigils, herbs, etc near your bed before you go to sleep, drink some chamomile, get yourself a dream journal (mine is literally a notebook with construction paper on it), keep it and a pen near you. In the morning write down your dreams, your thoughts, how you feel (tired, refreshed, groggy, etc), and interpret them.
  • Can’t afford tarot cards? Print out some, you can usually find them online and they won’t last as long as a real deck but it is a good temporary solution. Want a Ouija board but can’t keep one or need it to be easily hidden? Print one out, draw on one on paper or cardboard, fold it up and store it once you are done. Want a pendulum but can’t afford one? Use your favorite necklace, bracelet or keychain!
  • Tea and coffee magic is great, make your own tea blends with the herbs you like. Or just buy simple green or black tea and add sugar, milk, etc depending on your intentions
  • As I said before, crock pot magic. The Modern Cauldron: brew and cook all day with it, fill your apartment with the scent of the herbs and food to fill it with the energies they correspond with and you get a delicious meal to come home to! Most dorms allow them. Rice cookers also work well.
  • Can’t afford fresh food? Have to survive on ramen, canned soup, and microwaved meals? That is okay! They even correspond with things! Tomato soup for love, beauty and passion. Beef ramen noodles for strength, courage and longevity. Microwave mac n cheese for beauty and feminity. Look at their ingredients and what they correspond with. Sure its not as glamorous as a making a huge made by scratch traditional meal but its kitchen magic none the less. Stir it with your intent while you cook. It isn’t fancy but it works just as well!
  • Use a notebook or binder for a nice grimoire, decorate it as much as you want on the inside. Print out pictures of nature, animals, planets, stars, places, crystals, etc that you cant’ access/afford and use them in your craft. Spell books and grimoires are powerful tools
  • Don’t have a wand? Use a wooden spoon. Tie a colored string or ribbon to it to correspond with what energy you want it to have and move and flick it as you would a wand.
  • Knitting, crocheting, and knot magic is very apartment friendly. As well as sewing and embroidering plus it is super calming.
  • Glitter, sequins, and beads are great in witchcraft! Use their colors to determine their correspondences. Put them in spell jars, sachets, bottles, etc. Glitter tip: if you spill any don’t fret, get some packing tape, wrap it around your hand with the sticky part outwards and dab at that glitter spill. You will literally pick up all of the glitter in seconds!
  • Enchant and charge your pots, pans, skillets, and other cookware to make every meal magical
  • Make moonwater in your windowsills. Use it for cleansing, beauty, divination, clarity, protection and purification
  • Take walks. Even if it is a city there is still nature about. Pigeons flying about, potted flowers outside of stores, grass growing in front lawns, etc. Enjoy yourself, even if it is not some wild, vast forest you can still connect with your local nature.
  • Pick up litter or garbage you see outside, being in the city we all see it. The natural world around you will appreciate you helping out. Bring a bag with you when you take your walks or travel and fill it with wrappers you see on the ground.

I hope this was helpful to all of my fellow city and dorm witches!

Hair Folklore

Hair has been a subject of folklore found in many cultures across the world.

Celtic

Hair was an important ritual and spiritual symbol to the ancient Celts.

  • Warriors wore their hair long and their beards untrimmed when they went into battle, sometimes treating it with lime to give a more wild appearance.
  • Women’s hair was long as well, often braided or dressed; their hair was a symbol of feminine power.
  • Red hair was especially significant, for it showed that fairy blood rain in the person’s veins.
  • Mermaids lured sailors by combing their hair, and according to the principle of sympathetic magic, it was dangerous for girls to comb their hair when their brothers were at sea.
  • Animal hair also had power, especially that of horses, which would come alive if put in water.
  • Should a person, especially a child, be bitten by a dog, the wound had to be bound with hair from the animal to ensure healing.
  • In Scotland, some people believed that there is a relation amongst magpies, your hair, and your time of death. If magpies steal your cut hair and use it for their nests, you are going to die within a year.

Native American

  • For Native Americans, long hair represents strong spirit. They believe the longer the hair, the stronger the spirit.
  • The Cree people claim that their hair is another part of their soul.
  • The Sioux people only cut their hair in a time of mourning.
  • Only certain people were allowed to touch one’s hair.
  • In some tribes, it is also a symbol of knowledge, as it is a physical extension of one’s thoughts.
  • Cutting one’s hair was considered a taboo amongst most tribes.
  • By attaching a lock of a loved ones hair, in your hair, or by carrying their hair on your person, one is able to carry the thoughts of their loved ones with them on their travels.”
  • Braids symbolise oneness and unity.
  • There were communities that used mixture of bear fat and soot to make their hair darker

Asian

  • There are good and bad days to wash your hair; Indians believe that you should not wash your hair on a Thursday.
  • There is an old Indian tradition that widows should shave their head.
  • In India it is a tradition to cut one’s hair in a temple at least once in a lifetime, for this rite enables destroying one’s vanity.
  • In East Asia, long hair is a sign of youth and beauty.
  • The Chinese Lunar New Year is the time where you should not cut your hair.
  • People in China believe that by cutting your hair you will also symbolically “cut” your chances for prosperity in the New Year.
  • It is also not good to wash hair in first days of the year as it is possible that you are going to wash away all of your good luck.

Superstitions

  • In Victorian Britain, people used to believe that long hair showed a woman’s fertility.
  • In Lancashire, people used to belive that you should put one’s hair in fire to find how long he or she is going to live. Bright fire meant the person is going to live long
  • In most parts of the United States people believe that if you pull out one white hair two will grow in its place.
  • There is also American belief that the colour of hair on woman’s neck shows the colour of hair on her future husband.
  • In England cutting hair in the time when the Moon is waxing will bring you good luck.
  • Do not comb or brush your hair by the window on a full moon - it is an invitation to evil spirits and you may become ill.
  • Cut your hair during a storm for good luck.
  • One should be careful where they dispose of their hair - if an evil person takes it, one could become a victim of hex.

Superstitions by hair colour and style:

  • A red-haired person is widely held to have an irascible temper. This is in reference to the red-haired Judas Iscariot or the Norse invaders of Britain. Though he or she may also be courageous and it is considered lucky to run your fingers through someone’s red hair.
  • Fair hair is a sign of weak nature.
  • Black hair suggests great strength and virility, and is also considered lucky.
  • Brown-haired people are said to make the best spouse.
  • Those who are curly-haired are good tempered.
  • People with naturally straight hair are said to be cunning.

“You died on a Saturday morning. And I had you placed here under our tree. And I had that house of your father’s bulldozed to the ground. Mama always said dyin’ was a part of life. I sure wish it wasn’t. Little Forrest, he’s doing just fine. About to start school again soon. I make his breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. I make sure he combs his hair and brushes his teeth every day. Teaching him how to play ping-pong. He’s really good. We fish a lot. And every night, we read a book. He’s so smart, Jenny. You’d be so proud of him. I am. He, uh, wrote a letter, and he says I can’t read it. I’m not supposed to, so I’ll just leave it here for you. Jenny, I don’t know if Mama was right or if, if it’s Lieutenant Dan. I don’t know if we each have a destiny, or if we’re all just floating around accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it’s both. Maybe both is happening at the same time. I miss you, Jenny. If there’s anything you need, I won’t be far away.”  Forrest Gump (1994) dir. Robert Zemeckis

slow-clapping-in-the-distance  asked:

Hello, I have always loved the Samoyed breed but have wondered how they are as pets. I know they're known to be heavy shedders, and some tips on how to deal with that hair would be very much appreciated! I have a Westie right now, but I used to own Spitzes and I'm pretty used to the shedding :)

Heavy shedders indeed! While different Samoyed owners will report different levels of intensity - and it will vary depending on gender, neuter/spay status, and time of year - you’re still definitely looking at heavy shedding. If you aren’t prepared to…

  • desensitize your puppy as young as possible to the grooming process
  • brush daily during certain times of the year, several times a week the rest of the year
  • vacuum a lot
  • have hair on your furniture, clothes, eyes, inside of your mouth
  • pay a decent amount for an experienced groomer semi-frequently OR do your own set up

…then you should not get a Samoyed.

As with the varying opinions on intensity of shedding, there are also varying suggestions on how frequently you should take your Sammy to the groomer (or bathe them yourselves), but it should be at least twice a year for the puppo’s health. More information here, from the Samoyed Club of America: https://www.samoyedclubofamerica.org/the-samoyed/health-and-care/grooming/

The #1 best way to keep shedding down… is with frequent line combing and brushing. Do not ever shave your Sammy unless it is necessary for medical reasons. Do not ever use a Furminator, please, it will damage his coat. If you want to do your own grooming setup, here are the best videos & resources I’ve found online. These are all done by the Samoyed Moms who consist of some owners and breeders.

Anyway, that’s grooming. If you’re more interested in what they are like as pets, then I would turn to YouTube videos and the Samoyed reddit. I would also recommend contacting the SCA and seeing if you can attend some shows, get involved with rescues, or even meet a breeder just to get to know the dogs.

Every Samoyed I’ve ever known has a very relaxed, polite temperament. They are not easily bothered or stirred - they politely and gently remove themselves from the situation instead, if necessary. Important things to know about them as a breed are the following:

  • They NEED to be with you and your family. While they are an ancient breed, they are more people-oriented than, say, huskies. Some are cuddle bugs, some are less so because they get hot, but they are still not the type of dog to do well being left alone for long periods of time. If you do that, there is a good chance there will be some destruction as a result of boredom and potentially anxiety.
  • They are independent thinkers. Training will be different than other dog breeds. Once they’ve learned a new trick, it’s better to generally move onto something new than to keep repeating something they’ve already learned. It’s boring and they’ll definitely let you know.
  • They are, in general, jokesters. Some breed judges prefer Samoyeds that aren’t perfectly behaved in the ring because they feel that better represents the breed as a whole.

In essence, the Samoyede people that the breed is named after bred and raised them to work independently from humans. Typically, they’d have several dogs and one would be the “lead” dog that took some instruction from the humans. That dog would then lead the others to their tasks for the day - herding, pulling, what have you. At the end of the day, though, they returned home to their people, often to snuggle up and help keep everyone warm. Notice how throughout their typical day they are either with other dogs or people, though! They don’t like to be alone.

Finally, if you keep the giant wads of fur you’ve brushed out of your Sammy, you can do as the Samoyede people did and save their fur for spinning and knitting (another trait they bred for was their fur texture!).

ALTERNATIVES TO SELFHARM

Disclaimer: Below is a list of things to do instead of cutting, burning, bruising, or any other form of self harm. Please keep in mind that unfortunately, not everything on this list will work for everyone. So, if you try something and it doesn’t work for you, don’t get discouraged! Some of these choices are complicated, and you might want to utilize the help of a therapist or trusted friend when undertaking them. Recovery is not a process that can be walked through alone, so don’t be afraid to reach out for help.

Alternatives for when you’re feeling angry or restless:

•Masturbate. I know it sounds funny but it can get your mind off of things and calm you.
•Scribble on photos of people in magazines
•Viciously stab an orange
•Throw an apple/pair of socks against the wall
•Have a pillow fight with the wall
•Scream very loudly
•Tear apart newspapers, photos, or magazines
•Go to the gym, dance, exercise
•Listen to music and sing along loudly
•Draw a picture of what is making you angry
•Beat up a stuffed bear
•Pop bubble wrap
•Pop balloons
•Splatter paint
•Scribble on a piece of paper until the whole page is black
•Filling a piece of paper with drawing cross hatches
•Throw darts at a dartboard
•Go for a run or a walk
•Write your feelings on paper then rip it up or burn it

•Slash an empty plastic soda bottle or a piece of heavy cardboard or an old shirt or sock
•Make a soft cloth doll to represent the things you are angry at; cut and tear it instead of yourself

•On a sketch or photo of yourself, mark in red ink what you want to do. Cut and tear the picture
•Break sticks
•Cut up fruits
•Make yourself as comfortable as possible
•Stomp around in heavy shoes
•Play handball or tennis
•Yell at what you are breaking and tell it why you are angry, hurt, upset, etc.
•Buy a cheap plate and decorate it with markers, stickers, cut outs from magazines, words, images, what ever that expresses your pain and sadness and when you’re done, smash it. (Please be careful when doing this)

Alternatives that will give you a sensation (other than pain) without harming yourself:

•Hold ice in your hands, against your arm, or in your mouth

•Massage where you want to hurt yourself
•Take a hot shower/bath
•Jump up and down to get some sensation in your feet
•Write or paint on yourself
•Arm wrestle with a member of your family
•Take a cold bath
•Bite into a hot pepper or chew a piece of ginger root
•Rub liniment under your nose
•Put tiger balm on the places you want to cut. (Tiger balm is a muscle relaxant cream that induces a tingly sensation. You can find it in most health food stores and vitamin stores.)

•Buy a cuddly toy
•Give someone a hug with a smile
•Put a face mask on
•Watch a favorite TV show or movie
•Eat something ridiculously sweet
•Remember a happy moment and relive it for a while in your head
•Treat yourself to some chocolate
•Try to imagine the future and plan things you want to do
•Look at things that are special to you
•Compliment someone else
•Make sculptures
•Watch fish
•Let yourself cry
•Play with a pet
•Have or give a massage
•Imagine yourself living in a perfect home and describe it in your mind
•If you’re religious, read the bible or pray
•Light a candle and watch the flame (but please be careful)
•Go chat in the chat room
•Allow yourself to cry; crying is a healthy release of emotion
•Accept a gift from a friend
•Carry tokens to remind you of peaceful comforting things/people
•Take a hot bath with bath oil or bubbles
•Curl up under a comforter with hot cocoa and a good book
•Make affirmation tapes inside you that are good, kind, gentle (Sometimes you can do this by writing down the negative thoughts and then physically re-writing them into positive messages)
•Make a tray of special treats and tuck yourself into bed with it and watch TV or read

Alternatives for when you’re feeling panicky or scared:

•"See, hear and feel"-5 things, then 4, then 3 and countdown to one which will make you focus on your surroundings and will calm you down
•Listen to soothing music; have a CD with motivational songs that you can listen to
•Meditate or do yoga
•Name all of your soft toys
•Hug a pillow or soft toy
•Hyper focus on something
•Do a “reality check list” – write down all the things you can list about where you are now (e.g. It is the twenty sixth of April, twenty sixteen, I’m a room and everything is going to be alright)
•With permission, give someone a hug
•Drink herbal tea
•Crunch ice
•Hug a tree
•Go for a walk if it’s safe to do so
•Feel your pulse to prove you’re alive
•Go outside and attempt to catch butterflies or lizards
•Put your feet firmly on the floor
•Accept where you are in the process. Beating yourself up, only makes it worse
•Touch something familiar/safeLeave the room
•Lay on your back in bed comfortably (eyes closed), and breathe in for 4, hold for 2, out for 4, hold for 2. Make sure to fill your belly up with air, not your chest. If your shoulders are going up, keep working on it. When you’re comfortable breathing, put your hand on your belly and rub up and down in time with your breathing. If your mind wanders to other things, move it back to focusing ONLY on the synchronized movement of your hand and breathing.
•Give yourself permission to…. (Keep it safe)

Alternatives that will hopefully make you think twice about harming yourself:

•Think about how you don’t want scars
•Treat yourself nicely
•Remember that you don’t have to hurt yourself just because you’re thinking about self harm
•Create a safe place to go
•Acknowledge that self harm is harmful behavior: say “I want to hurt myself” rather than “I want to cut”
•Repeat to yourself “I don’t deserve to be hurt” even if you don’t believe it
•Remember that you always have the choice not to cut: it’s up to you what you do
•Think about how you may feel guilty after self harming
•Remind yourself that the urge to self harm is impulsive: you will only feel like cutting for short bursts of time
•Avoid temptation
•Get your friends to make you friendship bracelets: wear them around your wrists to remind you of them when you want to cut
•Be with other people
•Make your own list of things to do instead of self harm
•Make a list of your positive character traits
•Be nice to your family, who in return, will hopefully be nice to you
•Put a band-aid on the area where you’d like to self harm
•Recognize and acknowledge the choices you have NOW
•Pay attention to the changes needed to make you feel safe
•Notice “choices” versus “dilemmas”
•Lose the “should-could-have to” words. Try… “What if”
•Kiss the places you want to SH or kiss the places you have healing wounds. It can be a reminder that you care about myself and that you don’t want this
•Choose your way of thinking, try to resist following old thinking patterns
•The Butterfly project- draw a butterfly on the place(s) that you would self harm and if the butterfly fades without self-harming, it means it has lived and flown away, giving a sense of achievement. Whereas if you do self-harm with the butterfly there; you will have to wash it off. If that does happen, you can start again by drawing a new one on. You can name the butterfly after someone you love.
•Write the name of a loved one [a friend, family member, or anyone else who cares about you] and write their name where you want to self harm. When you go to self harm remember how much they care and wouldn’t want you to harm yourself.
•think about what you would say to a friend who was struggling with the same things you are and try to be a good friend to yourself.
•Make a bracelet out duct tape, and put a line on it every day (Or any period of time) you go without self harm. When it’s full of lines, take it off and make a chain out of all the bracelets and hang it up somewhere where you can be reminded of your great progress.

Alternatives that give the illusion of seeing something similar to blood:

•Draw on yourself with a red pen or body paint, or go to a site such as this, where you 'cut’ the screen (be aware that some users may find this triggering, so view with caution)
•Cover yourself with plasters where you want to cut
•Give yourself a henna or fake tattoo
•Make “wounds” with makeup, like lipstick
•Take a small bottle of liquid red food coloring and warm it slightly by dropping it into a cup of hot water for a few minutes. Uncap the bottle and press its tip against the place you want to cut. Draw the bottle in a cutting motion while squeezing it slightly to let the food color trickle out.
•Draw on the areas you want to cut using ice that you’ve made by dropping six or seven drops of red food color into each of the ice-cube tray wells.
•Paint yourself with red tempera paint.

Alternatives to help you sort through your feelings:

•Phone a friend and talk to them
•Make a collage of how you feel
•Negotiate with yourself
•Identify what is hurting so bad that you need to express it in this way
•Write your feelings in a diary
•Free write (Write down whatever you’re thinking at that moment, even if it doesn’t make sense)
•Make lists of everything such as blessings in your life
•Make a notebook of song lyrics that you relate to
•Call or text a hotline
•Write a letter to someone telling them how you feel (but you don’t have to send it if you decide not to)
•Start a grateful journal where everyday you write down three: good things that happened/ things that you accomplished/ are grateful for/ made you smile. Make sure the journal is strictly for positive things. Then when you feel down you can go back and look at it.

It’s Difficult (WTLYBF) - 5

You strolled around your house, cleaning and picking up things while dancing to your playlist. Today was a solo day so you decided to clean up. While picking up random things on the floor, you almost trip over a small clump. You look down and recognize it as one of Jungkook’s hoodies he must’ve forgotten here. Picking it up, a whiff of Jungkook’s scent hit you. Not even thinking about it, you pulled it over your head; it fit big on you. You smile contently and continue to your tasks. Halfway into organizing your food cabinet, there was a knock at your door. “Coming!” you yell. Setting down a can of fruit, you jog to the door and open it. “Hey,” Taehyung says, smiling and entering your flat. You smile and greet him back. “Why does your place not look like a garbage dump like usual?” You laugh, slapping his shoulder. “Shut up. I decided to clean.” He nods and goes to enter your kitchen but stops, turning around. “Isn’t that Jungkook’s hoodie?” Your face feels hot but you nod shyly. “Oh. Well, you look cute.” Taehyung walks off and leaves you a blushing mess. Why did his compliments still get to you? And why were you embarrassed about being caught wearing Kook’s hoodie? He was just a close friend. “Did you come to eat my food or what?” Tae laughs and shakes his head. “I came to take you out to eat. You down?” You nod and leave to go change into go out clothes. You keep the hoodie and just slip on a pair of jeans. Grabbing the brush, you comb out your tangled hair and fix it up. “I’m ready,”

You sat across from Taehyung, scanning the menu in front of you. A burger seemed good right now. “Are we ready to order?” the waiter asks. The both of you nod and tell him your orders. “So, how’ve you been?” You smile and shrug. “Fine, I guess. Jungkook recently got me that EXO album I’ve been wanting, so I’m happy about that.” Tae raises his eyebrows. “He did?” You nod, sighing contently. “I don’t want him buying me things like that, but it was EXO so I couldn’t refuse.” He laughs at you, eyes crinkling up in the cutest way. “What a fangirl.” You playfully glare at him with a pout. “Oh shut up you art hoe.” He smirks at you, most likely having a comeback. “At least I like modern things like art.” You also smirk. “EXO is art.” He lets out a playful scream. “Shut up.” You laugh at him, calming yourself down after a good few seconds. Your banter must’ve been loud because a little 8 year old came up to you with a cheeky grin. “Aw, you two are cute! Are you boyfriend and girlfriend?” You choke on your spit but shake your head as you hit your chest. “Just friends.” you reply. She nods, her mouth in an O shape. “Do you at least like each other?” Inside, you wince but you just smile it off while kindly denying it. “I don’t really like anyone in a like like kind of way.” Tae turns to you. “You sure?” You nod, raising an eyebrow. Did it seem like you had a crush on someone? “Wait, who’d you think I had a crush on?” Tae shakes his head, grinning. He seemed a lot happier all of a sudden. “Sana, leave them alone and come back here!” The little girl who was named Sana giggles and waves before skipping back to her mom. You smile, “cute.” Taehyung nods. Time must’ve went by quickly because the waiter headed towards you with your food. You thank him when he sets it all down, beginning to open your mouth to take a bite. “Why aren’t you with Jungkook today?” Taehyung asks you. “He’s on a night out with his family. Otherwise he’d probably be at my house playing Overwatch while I clean or something.” You giggle at the thought, biting your burger. “So would you deny me if you were hanging with Jungkook?” You shake your head. “Of course not, you’re my friend too. What’s with these questions?”

“I don’t know, just curious.”

Once done eating, you paid and headed elsewhere. “Where’s the gucci store?” Taehyung asks. “Stop wasting your money on gucci, buy some other brand.” He looks at you with a serious face. “No.” You burst out laughing, eventually making him laugh too. Your phone starts ringing, meaning you had a call. You pick it up, not caring enough to check who it was. “Hello-” “I’M FREE, WHERE ARE YOU SO WE CAN HANGOUT?” You immediately knew it was Jungkook. “Oh hi. Uh, I’m with Tae, in the shopping area downtown.” you answer. “Ok, I’m heading there now.” You nod to yourself. “Bye. I love you.” You’d say it back without hesitation, but Taehyung was next to you and most likely listening. With hot cheeks, you murmur it back. “I love you too..” You hang up and put your phone away. “Was that Jungkook?” You nod, covering your face. “Be honest with me, do you like him or not? You get flustered whenever he’s mentioned.” Your mind goes blank and you blink, thinking. Did you? You don’t know. “I don’t know.” Tae gives you a glare. “Just tell me, I need to be sure.” You furrow your eyebrows. “Why?” He freezes and his cheeks go pink. “Uh I-” You interrupt him before he made up an excuse. “Just tell me.”

“Do you like Jungkook or not?” You roll your eyes. “No, I don’t.” As you said that, your stomach felt weird, almost as if it was telling you you were lying. You ignored it though. “Ok..The truth is, Y/N, that I- I uh..like? You? A lot?” Your heart felt like it frozen. Your eyes were wide and you were frozen. Did he just say what you thought he said? “Say that again?” you ask. “I-” Taehyung breathes in and out before continuing. “I like you.” he says it, but doesn’t face you. His eyes looked everywhere but at you. You were going to speak but a familiar voice interrupted you. “You what?”
