His Power
DAY TWENTY ONE

“…being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience”
—Colossians 1:11

Paul wrote this letter to the Colossians while he was a prisoner in Rome. At the time he wrote the letter, the church of Colossae was in need of prayer and reminders as they were beginning to encounter false teachers who were causing confusion, saying that Jesus was not God.

In today’s verse, Paul is challenging them to be strengthened with all power according to God’s glorious might. Not by their own might, and not by anyone else’s. Remember this in those moments where:

1. You feel as if you’re getting weaker instead of stronger
2. You feel as if you’re moving backwards instead of forward
3, You are beginning to doubt yourself and what you’re capable of
4. Your finances/resources are running low and you’re not sure how you’re going to make it
5. Your boss/professor(s) are giving you a hard time and you’re not sure if you can keep up

No matter what you’re faced with, remember, you were not meant to conquer this world alone or through your own might. You can mentally prepare yourself for tasks and work as hard as you can toward achieving your goals, but until you begin to lean on His power, you won’t be complete! Experience true power and glorious might because of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It makes all the difference!

She Was Made With A Purpose
Day 20/30

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. - Colossians 3:2 (NIV)

If you truly want to remember that you were made with a purpose in your daily life, you can never allow yourself to become absorbed with the things that are right in front of you.

In today’s passage, we see that the Apostle Paul wanted the people in Colossae to know this. They lived in a time where they were faced with many religious options and none of them led to the truth that Jesus is Lord. Paul wanted to emphasize that it’s not about sprinkling a little Jesus into your daily routine. It’s not about adding Jesus to your existing schedule when it’s convenient. It’s about keeping Christ at the center of everything. It’s about keeping your mind fixed on what’s above and not what’s around you. So when your mind starts wondering, and it seems like:

1. The work day is going on too long
2. The things you’re hoping for are taking forever to happen
3. The person that you care about doesn’t care about you as near as much
4. The people you thought you could trust let you down
5. You don’t have what it takes to get through the rest of the week with a good attitude
6. Nothing interesting is happening in your life
7. You have too much on your plate and there’s no way you can get it all done
8. You’re not getting support from the people you thought you could count on
9. There are no opportunities for you in your line of work or field of interest
10. You’re better off settling for something in a relationship that you know isn’t right, but you just don’t think you can wait any longer

Remember that even though you might live and breathe these scenarios everyday, you have an opportunity in Christ to remember the good news in it all. You have the opportunity to stop letting these things consume you and focus on what’s above, knowing that God has a purpose for you and when you keep Christ at the center, you will constantly be reminded of this. Even in difficult times.
