Colorado River, Arizona by Scott Villalobos. The Colorado River is 1,450-miles (2,330 km) long, cuts through parts of several states and Mexico, where it finally empties into the Colorado River Delta at the tip of the Gulf of California between Baja California and Sonora.
Photo by @pedromcbride (Pete McBride) // When reflecting on 2014, photographing the Colorado River Delta — typically a dead, dry estuary — kiss the Sea of Cortez for the first time in two decades due to a temporary release of water for ecological purposes, was truly a highlight. I hope to see this happen again, but drought, growing population, overallocation and antiquated water laws make such restoration projects challenging. #Mexico and the U.S. will negotiate another delta pulse flow in five years.
