He’s 19 years och 286 days old but this tuesday night Gabriel Landeskog was named Team Captain of the Colorado Avalangers. Landeskog is the youngest captain in NHL history.
He is 11 days younger than Sidney Crosby, who was 19 years, 297 days when he was named captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins on May 31, 2007. At the international level, Landeskog recently served as an alternate captain for Team Sweden at the 2012 IIHF World Championship in Helsinki and Stockholm. He was also an alternate captain for Sweden at the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship in Buffalo, N.Y
- Yeah, im happy, but it wouldn’t have hurt to wait awhile, its not really like being captain for Sweden.
“I’m so humbled and greatful for this opportunity, and what an honor to follow the footsteps of the past captains for the Avs”
“I couldn’t be more excited and I’m truly looking forward to the challenge. Thank you all for the kind words and the support!”
