College AU Bucky x Reader
A/N: This isn’t my favourite but alas, here it is. I picture this as something that would happen during college? But maybe that’s just me. Basically, you and Bucky are house mates and horror movie marathon shenanigans ensue.
You don’t know how but somehow Bucky had convinced you to watch horror movies with him for most of the day. You didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of being too scared to watch them but you knew you weren’t going to like them, regardless, you watched them anyway. The last one flickers off and he turns to you, sliding the remote onto the table in front of you.
“You sure you’re alright? Don’t need me to protect you or anything?” he wonders with a knowing grin and you just laugh a little at him; he sure was cocky when he wanted to be.
“I’m fine thanks,” you respond, standing up and stretching, his eyes on you.
“Well I’m heading to bed,” you tell him, watching as he also stands and moves by you. He gestures for you to go and you head off, the stairs only a few feet away. He follows closely behind as you head up the stairs and then turn swiftly around the corner to your room.
“What are you doing?” you wonder, noticing Bucky was still behind you; his bedroom was the other side of the hall so his actions were completely pointless, just a tad annoying.
“Walking you to your room, anything could have happened on your short journey from downstairs,” he answers you back as you stop by your bedroom door. You put your hand on the door and push it open before stepping inside.
“Here I am, all safe and sound,” you assure him and he smiles before turning and walking to his own room. You watch him just to make sure and he passes you a cheeky smile and eyebrow wiggle before he enters his own room. You shut your door behind you, taking off your bra on the way over to your bed. You take a seat and lay down, pulling your duvet over you and snuggling into the pillow. It didn’t take you that long to fall asleep.
Footsteps sound outside your room and your eyes bolt open and pulse quickens a little. It was probably nothing. So your eyes shut and heart beat slows. Then it’s there again; more slow fumbling footprints, kind of heavy as they hit the carpetted floor outside your room. You groan and roll over in your bed, your heart beat quickening slightly at the possibility of what it could be. A few seconds later, a low knock sounds and you sigh in relief; most intruders wouldn’t knock before entering a room.
“Come in Buck,” you call out and moments later, a tall dark figure was walking towards you. You sit up as he slumps down onto your bed, looking wide eyed and a little anxious.
“Everything alright?” you wonder and his face darts quickly to you at the sound of your voice.
“Yeah, yeah…” he responds and it didn’t sound very convincing at all. A branch hits your window, rattling it a little; a movement that startles him so much. You wanted to laugh at him; how macho he’d come across earlier but he was genuinely terrified.
“Say, you er… You mind if I sleep in here tonight?” he asks and you smile warmly at him, reaching out and brushing your hand over his.
“As long as you don’t try anything,” you tell him and he nods back quickly in response.
“Don’t worry, I won’t,” he assures you. You gesture for him to move slightly and he complies, sliding a little to the left which meant you could pull the duvet over him. He snuggles down into your bed next to you, his bright blue eyes wide and taking you in before him.
“It’s ok Bucky, I’ll keep you safe,” you joke lightly and he pouts back.
“I’m counting on it,” and you laugh a little.
“Well goodnight,” you say to him, shutting your eyes and nuzzling into your cushion.
“Goodnight,” and silence falls, only the heavy breathing of the two of you to be heard.
