what advice do you have for a 17 year old queer girl who wants to go to art school for painting but is terrified of what that means

Go to art school.

If you can’t go to art school, go to a regular college and major in art.

If you can’t go to a regular college, go to a community college and throw all of your focus into art.

If you can’t go to a community college, take classes. Watch videos. Paint, paint, paint, paint, paint.

Never stop painting.

Okay, here’s what I’m going to do.

I can’t live like this anymore, so It’s time to think about a career.

I plan to go into Special Education. There I can use my art skills to help children express themselves. I’m going to be contacting the local college to see what I can do.

I’ll still be taking art commissions cause i still need to pay bills and eat, but this is going to be a big change. Any advice would be appreciated if you’ve worked in the Special Education field before.

it’s 2016. Children in Special Education deserve to be treated and cared for with respect. I want to be able to watch over these kids. I remember being in special ed as a kid, and how some kids were treated was inexcusable and terrible.

So that’s what I want to do. I’m going to be 28 years old next month and I figure it’s time to focus on getting a career.

Hello There!

Better make an introductory post as it’s custom to. I’m Amy, and this is a new studyblr that I made in order to just Get Their Shit Together™ for the upcoming school years. I’m new to the community and I already love it! I’m really hoping this blog will keep me motivated throughout the school year. Some things about me:

  • I’m looking to major in film or animation in college (that’s why there’s gonna be a few art refs here and there)
  • I like shows such as Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, and such
  • I also have an art blog!

Thanks for reading and I hope to post more soon!

some cool studyblrs/tumblrs you should totally check out if you haven’t already:@studybuzz ☆  @haleystudies@calmingstudies@study-ref@journalsanctuary ☆  @fuckstudy ☆  @studyyas@princess-of-positivity

Hi hi! Since I’ll be going to college very soon, I’ve decided to start offering art commissions!!

I can draw:
- Original characters (including fandom OCs, must provide picture reference)
- Fanart
- Some/most ships
- Furries
- Body horror, gore+guro
- etc. If you are unsure just ask!

I will not draw:
- NSFW/Sexually explicit pieces
- Complex machinery
- Abusive, incest, or pedophilia ships
- etc. Ask if you’re unsure; I have the right to deny your commission if I’m not comfortable with drawing it.

For further examples of my art, you can browse this blog(art blog), or the art tag on my horror/gore blog (tw: gore+body horror, obviously)

Please contact me at if you want to commission me! Payments are to be made through PayPal and are required once the initial sketch is sent and approved.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can message me or send me an ask!

my birthday is officially less than one month away, so if anyone’s looking to get me anything I will be accepting 1.) large sums of money to pay off my college tuition or 2.) art of anything I ship or 3.) large sums of money to pay off my college tuition

Hello from San Francisco, where Ponyo and I are teaching at California College of the Arts MFA in Comics Program!

I just had some illustrations published in Kazoo: A Magazine for Girls Who Aren’t Afraid to Make Some Noise. It also features comics by Alison Bechdel, Lucy Knisley and Lisa Congdon. I’m so happy to be a part of it.

Coming in August: the cover for my new book! Stay tuned.
