cold weather is no an excuse to stay home

Patater Week (Feb 7) - Proposal

It was supposed to be a romantic camping getaway. Instead, they’re tearing the campsite apart as fast as possible because the radio announced a freak blizzard on the way and snowflakes are already billowing down.

They manage to get everything in the car and drive out of the woods without they get stuck in a forming snowdrift.

Alexei drives, because they’re in Canada, the car is a rental, and of the two of them, he’s the one with an international driver’s license.

(”Can’t believe you have passport but not international driver’s license, Kent. What you do when you playing in Vancouver? Or Montreal?”

“I go back to the hotel after the game and I sleep.”)

Alexei is calm but Kent is scrunched down in the passenger’s seat, seething. Alexei thinks the glower is darker than warranted, but he does kind of understand Kent’s annoyance. The camping trip was his idea. A just-over-two-years anniversary trip, since their actual anniversary was in the middle of playoffs due to their having hooked up during All Stars weekend one time and managing to admit mutual feelings of “like” around the time they realized they might be facing off for the cup.

They hadn’t, but the Skype call regarding that issue had been enlightening, to say the least.

“Is okay, Kent,” Alexei says as the windshield wipers zip across his vision and the road before him turns increasingly white. “We try again, yes? Maybe go back out tomorrow, if weather clears?”

Kent grumbles and buries his nose deeper in his coat. He’s cold-blooded and gets chills if a cool breeze blows by. Alexei loves it, because it gives him the excuse to wrap Kent up in Alexei’s warm arms all the time. Now, he pats Kent’s leg. But Kent’s not having it. He grumbles again and says, “No way this’ll clear up by tomorrow. Next week, maybe.”

“So we re-schedule our flights home,” Alexei says. He takes his hand back, because a responsible driver always has two hands on the wheel. “Stay in hotel until snow is gone. No big deal—”

And that is the moment one of their tires blows out.

When the Storm Ends

Request: i’d like to request a baekhyun scenario where the reader is terrified of thunderstorms and baekhyun thinks she’s just trying to get his attention at first, but then he realizes…

Genre: Fluff

Member: Baekhyun

Being a lover of cold and rainy weather, you were always excited to watch the rain outside from the window.

The rain had always comforted you. You found that you fell asleep much better when it rained and the smell was one of your favourites.

You would choose rain over a sunny day anytime because when it rained, it meant you had an excuse to stay at home and laze around, watching a movie while cuddled up with Baekhyun or playing games together. It was also better finding different ways to stay cozy over drowning in your own sweat when the heat became too unbearable.

Things you’ll understand if you like to spend time alone.

1. A weekend which contains no plans, no responsibilities and nowhere to go is a perfect weekend for you.

2. Sometimes your friends try to make plans with you and you have to think of an excuse rather than admitting you’d rather spend all day alone.

3. Reading, listening to music and watching TV is far more appealing to you than going to clubs.

4. Going away to a remote cabin in the middle of nowhere sounds like a perfect break for you.

5.  Your intuition is on point because you spend an insane amount of time alone and cultivating it.

6.  When you do hang out with people, you prefer seeing them one on one or in a small group. The more intimate and deep the conversation, the better.

7. You can spend a lot of time observing and studying people’s behavior.

8. You tend to enjoy cold, rainy weather as it gives you an excuse to stay home all day, drink coffee and read.

9. If you aren’t thinking of the world’s biggest questions you must be dead.

10.  There is absolutely nothing that can touch the feeling of when someone cancels plans on you.

Hot Pot Tokyo!

Tokyo’s in its hottest season now, stretching through August. And it’s easy to tell due to how the weather has shifted. Very warm, right? I’d like to think that Tokyo is the most pleasant in the winter time. But since I was born in Hokkaido, Sapporo, I could never endure winter in the far north.

So when I moved to Tokyo, the weather changed and it became hot even during winter times. Surely, sometimes snow will fall, too. But definitely, nothing like the north! Sometimes I miss the snowfall and being able to literally roll in the snow, but at the same time, I am happy without the immense cold.

Then again, with such a cold weather, you could find excuses to stay at home in the winter time and skip school. If the weather hit too much of a low temperature, it was a good enough of an excuse. Sadly, this only worked in winter in the north. If you wanted to skip school in summer - during the most stressful time - it was never too hot to stay inside and not go to school. Funny how that works.

I think the weather may also make us a bit more drawn back, too. Lately, there’s been so much studio work and writing that I haven’t had the time to be around people I miss, nor reconnect with people that are very missed. Of course, I could never forget those around me. While Tokyo is so hot, please make sure you take it easy and don’t stay out in the sun for far too long.

It is, however, a truly beautiful season, and we should enjoy every single second of it. I know that I am.

Could you do a fanfic on Josh and Jennifer spending Thanksgiving together or a cute fic where they baby their dogs and call them their kids.

Sure! I’m gonna go with Joshifer spending Thanksgiving together :)
I have no idea if Jen has a lot of uncles, aunts or little cousins so I just made that up. Also her nephew is called David right? Oh well.

~ Joshifer one-shot ~

As soon as my mom and I step outside we approach the cars that just parked in front of the house to greet the family; a couple of uncles with their wives, my aunt and my nine year old cousin.
It’s cold and I’m wearing just a hoodie but soon their hugs make me feel warm. We tell everyone to go inside while we wish our neighbors a happy Thanksgiving, who are just walking across the road towards us.

I small chat with them, tell them how relaxed I am now that I’ve got a few weeks off, and how happy to be home with my family. I most certainly shouldn’t have said the word ‘relaxed’, because as soon as it comes out of my mouth, I spot a couple of paparazzi behind the bushes on the other side of the road. Fucking great. I feel that anger is about to take over me but I don’t let it. I want to show them my middle finger but I can’t. I need to stay calm.

Using the cold weather as an excuse, I say goodbye to my neighbors and walk back into the house, only to find the best image I could have possibly imagined. My aunts and sister-in-law checking the food in the kitchen, my dad, uncles and brothers chatting about football, and my cousin trying to teach my nephew her name.

I sigh happily at the sight of my family as I finally make my way over to Josh’s side on the couch. He places his hand on my knee and gives it a little squeeze.

“You can’t look outside any window or get close to them,” I snap.

I am incredibly happy that he’s here but I knew there would be risks. Of course my mom didn’t think of it when she sent Josh to the store to get some beans while I was in the shower, and he didn’t seem to care either, but I do, and I know we need to be careful. At this point I’m starting to get tense again.

“Why would I want to look outside the window when the most beautiful woman is right here?”

He always knows exactly what to say to make me smile. To be honest, I’m waiting for him to add ‘and I mean your mom’, but he doesn’t say anything else. So I rest my head on his shoulder and take his hand in mind, intertwining our fingers softly.
Here we don’t need to hide. Here we can be a normal couple. Here there are no cameras pointing at us or people calling our names. Here we can be ourselves.

Our peaceful moment is kind of broken when my young cousin walks up to us with a silly smile on her face. I grab her hand and help her sit down on my lap as I give her a sweet kiss on the cheek.

“How’s this lovely princess?” I say as I check out the pink dress she is wearing.

“I’m okay,” she replies a bit shyly.

I notice she won’t stop looking at Josh. “Did you say hi to Josh?”

“I did earlier, but I wanna ask him something now.”

Josh gets all happy to have the kid’s attention. “Of course! You can ask me anything,” he says as he smiles at both of us.

“Can you do the cricket sound?”

I can’t help but laugh out loud. I did not see that one coming. However, I don’t know if I should be scared about the fact that she knows he can do that –who told her? Or what was she watching?-, or happy because she actually knows something about him. Anyways, the question is hilarious and I can’t wait for Josh’s response.

“Absolutely,” he giggles as he realizes he has to get serious to do the sound. And I’m not helping because I really can’t stop laughing.

I kiss my cousin’s temple, partly to hide my face so Josh can focus, and partly to thank her for her amazing question.
Josh starts doing the cricket sound as my cousin opens her mouth in awe and goes “you really sound like a cricket!”, which forces Josh to keep doing it for her entertainment.

It’s just when he’s done and my cousin is clapping her hands when I notice my little nephew David is right beside us looking at Josh with wide eyes and half his hand inside his mouth.

“Aw, Joshy, look who wants to hear more of that sound!” I exclaim as I motion for my nephew to come closer. I can’t pick him up since my cousin is already on my lap, but Josh takes care of that.  He reaches out his arms and waits for David to take the first step. He hesitates for a moment, but when he sees me smiling at him and encouraging him to come to us, he runs to Josh’s open arms.

Josh adjusts him on his lap and little David finally takes his hand out of his mouth only to bring his wet fingers to my boyfriend’s lips, silently asking him to make the sound that has caused him to join our private party.

To my own amusement, David starts cracking up and, in a matter of seconds, he causes my cousin to do the same. I can’t help but watch them have fun with us, with Josh. I look at him and realize he is enjoying this moment so much. Everyone else is just minding their own business while I am witnessing the cutest moment of the day.

And for the rest of the weekend, I forget about everything else. I forget about my job, the fame, the paparazzi’s outside my house, the media, the upcoming events… I relax and I focus on those who make me, well, me. My family, who love me and support me and bear with my annoying and loud self; my friends, who are always there for me, unconditionally, no questions asked. And Josh, the young boy who started off as my co-star, then became my best friend, and is now the person I share everything with. That person that not only knows how to treat me, but knows how to love me in a way I had never been loved before.
