CHAPTER ONE: PAST AND PRESENT

Authors: @2moms-0fucks and @piecesofscully

Rating: Teen

Chapter Word Count: ~6,000

“Like watching a dream, the sounds and movements around her are exaggerated with each passing millisecond. Muffled sounds. People moving in slow motion. If Dana Scully is ever asked one day to explain the events on the bridge, she won’t know what to tell them.”

Notes: This is our gift to the fandom. Patty and I have spent 8 months working on this monster, and while there were times when we didn’t think we’d be able to finish it, we believed in the story we were telling – and even more so, we wanted to share it with you all. It’s our love for the show, its characters, and our desperate needs for redemption in their emotional arcs that led us to write this. And so, we share it with you. A special thanks to @bohoartist for helping to beta this beast, giving us your honest feedback and helping us to write to the best of our abilities. Countless love and appreciation to everyone else who listened to our bitching and moaning these last 8 months. We couldn’t have done it without all of you.

CHAPTER ONE: PAST AND PRESENT

Cars sit bumper to bumper along the two-way road that leads to the bridge. The night ahead of them is flooded with a sea of red lights, glowing and flickering as the cluster of drivers tap on their brakes to scoot ahead inch by inch. For miles and miles, horns blare angrily as fearful motorists do all they can to move. Gridlock enslaves the city and it’s outskirts as everyone attempts to evacuate, all too fearful of being the next victim, the next target.

The weathered truck sits idly and its headlights reflect off the car only inches from his front bumper. Years of being parked under the hot sun has aged the blue paint of the truck’s hood, oxidizing and chipping the once vibrant color, leaving it stripped bare and dull before its time. As the owner of the truck scratches his thick and prickly beard that was quickly becoming more gray than brown, he smirks to himself that his beloved truck isn’t the only thing aging prematurely. He lifts his chin to look in the rearview mirror, and his blue eyes stare back at him, their edges lined and wrinkled from harsh living conditions under the sun. When did he get so fucking old?

“This will be our final broadcast before we head off air here in a sec–” a shaky voice speaks to them from the speakers. “The station wants us to play a clip on a loop…something about a vaccine being made…I don’t know–” the announcer trails off, and the older man in the cab reaches forward to turn up the volume. His young passenger sits up, eyes glued to the green numbers on the small radio.

“From everyone here at KDCR, we wish everyone…,” the voice pauses, and the radio silence is dead air for seconds on end. Finally, the shaky voice returns, his message simple. “God help us.” Then nothing.

Plant of the Day

Wednesday 1 March 2017

A cloud of pale pink flowers attracted attention from the large and vigorous Viburnum × bodnantense ‘Dawn’. This deciduous shrub has upright growth, spreading by producing additional stems from ground level. The clusters of scented, light pink and white flowers opening from red buds through autumn and winter to early spring.

REQUEST: Okay, so Seb saying he really wants kids in that interview killed me. I am writing this request as a ghost, lol. Buuuut, what if he got a picture of an ultrasound in a card as an early Christmas present and that was reader’s way of telling him she’s pregnant?!

WARNINGS: fluff, fluff, fluff. Probably language too. quick mention of sex.!

AUTHOR’S NOTE: n/a

Enjoy!

As soon as you stepped in through the door, you dropped the tree trunk onto the wooden floor and ran to the bathroom where you dry heaved over the toilet. You heard Sebastian’s footsteps grow closer, his hands immediately moving your hair out of the way even though you weren’t puking.

“You okay?” He rubbed your back.

“I’m fine. Just feeling a little under the weather is all.” You coughed.

He smiled down at you before pressing a kiss to the top of your head and letting you know he was going to bring you a glass of water.

Once he was out of sight, you instinctively placed your hands over your abdomen as you rested your back against the wall. You were currently 2 months pregnant going on 3, but Sebastian didn’t know. You weren’t showing as much and you were very conscious of what you wore. It was always loose fitting clothes and sweaters and jackets. You wanted to surprise him and what better way to reveal the pregnancy than have it be a Christmas gift?

Chariot/Croix - Piggyback Rides 2

Sequel to this . inb4 ep 22 reveals croix is an evil, baby-eating demonlord!!! I love their sad teenage witch angst so I wrote more but there’s also some sad adult witch angst :D

Croix was warm underneath her and slightly sweaty. Twigs snapped underfoot and Croix teetered to the side, cursing under her breath. A pause, then Croix attempted to readjust her grip before continuing on with unsteady steps.

Chariot kept her eyes closed, her other senses painting a picture she wanted to keep close to heart. They would be back at Luna Nova in a few short minutes and Croix would go back to her distant, quiet self. Chariot tightened her grip around Croix.

Cassiopeia, the home of two bright emission nebulas are nicknamed Heart and Soul. The Heart Nebula, visible on the right, has a shape reminiscent of a classical heart symbol. Both nebulas shine brightly in the red light of energized hydrogen. Several young open clusters of stars populate the image and are visible here in blue, including the nebula centers. Light takes about 300 light years to reach us from these nebulas.

Pilot Captures Mysterious Glow Over the Pacific: Cause Yet to be Found

Commercial airline pilot JPC van Heijst recently captured a series of unusual photographs he had taken while flying in the North Pacific, just south of the Russian peninsula Kamchatka, late Saturday night. Calling it “the creepiest thing so far in my flying career,” he described the phenomenon as an intense flash of light “directed vertically up in the air.” Twenty minutes later, a cluster of large, red, glowing lights appeared, which seemed to be emanating from the ocean. Baffled, van Heijst reported his observations to Air Traffic Control to investigate the cause. Though an explanation has yet to be found, the predominant theory links the bizarre sighting to massive underwater volcanic eruption. Indeed, the flight path crossed over the “Ring of Fire,” a circular area in the Pacific where over 75% of the world’s dormant and active volcanos are located.

Is the heart and soul of our Galaxy located in Cassiopeia? Possibly not, but that is where two bright emission nebulas nicknamed Heart and Soul can be found. The Heart Nebula, officially dubbed IC 1805 and visible in the featured image on the right, has a shape reminiscent of a classical heart symbol. Both nebulas shine brightly in the red light of energized hydrogen. Several young open clusters of stars populate the image and are visible here in blue, including the nebula centers. Light takes about 6,000 years to reach us from these nebulas, which together span roughly 300 light years. Studies of stars and clusters like those found in the Heart and Soul Nebulas have focused on how massive stars form and how they affect their environment.

Carved by Massive Stars
This image, captured by ESO’s Very Large Telescope (VLT) at Paranal, shows a small part of the well-known emission nebula, NGC 6357, located some 8000 light-years away, in the tail of the southern constellation of Scorpius (The Scorpion). The image glows with the characteristic red of an H II region, and contains a large amount of ionised and excited hydrogen gas.

The cloud is bathed in intense ultraviolet radiation — mainly from the open star cluster Pismis 24, home to some massive, young, blue stars — which it re-emits as visible light, in this distinctive red hue.

The cluster itself is out of the field of view of this picture, its diffuse light seen illuminating the cloud on the centre-right of the image. We are looking at a close-up of the surrounding nebula, showing a mesh of gas, dark dust, and newly born and still forming stars.
