Girls Like Girls (Malia Tate Imagine)
Warnings: Abusive relationship.
Always gonna steal your thunder, watch me like a dark cloud
He kissed your lips, the taste of cigarette smoke filling your mouth, making you wince. His hand was on the back of your head, pushing just hard enough so you couldn’t pull back.
“Hey.” Jackson pulled away from you, rolling his eyes in frustration as Malia walked up to you both, seating on the bench beside you. Jackson had his arm slung over your shoulder protectively, his hand squeezing your arm tight enough to hurt. You wince at the pain, offering Malia a short “Hey” in return.
Malia had a strained look on her face, as if there was something she wanted to say, but couldn’t quite come up with it.
You start to cough as a breeze comes by, forcing all the smoke from Jackson’s lit cigarette into your face.
“It’s just smoke, babe. Get over it.” He said, and you forced yourself to bite your tongue, knowing what he could do if you spoke out.
I’ve been crossing all the lines, all the lines
“How does this look?” You spin around in your new dress, a bright smile on your face as Malia stared at you, a slight blush on her face. “Malia?”
“It looks great!” She gulped, a smile now on her face too.
“Hey, can you help put this necklace on?” You ask, stepping over to Malia, who was currently sitting on your bed.
“Yeah.” She spoke, standing up as you handed her the necklace, turning your back to her.
You felt a cold shiver as her hand brushed your neck, sweeping your hair over to the side as she brought the chain around your neck, clasping it at the back. Her hands stayed there for a moment, only a moment, but it was long enough to set your heart a flutter.
You turn around to face her, both your faces mere inches from each other.
“So, how do I look?” You ask, in a hushed tone.
“Perfect.” She replied. Standing this close, you noticed she had a lipstick stain, probably from when you had tried putting make up on her for her “date” tonight with Stiles, although she wouldn’t admit it was a date.
“Here, you have something on your mouth, let me get it for you.” You said, brushing the smear away with your thumb until it disappears. Your hand stays there for a moment, resting against her cheek, her skin soft under your touch.
“Did you get it?” She asked, as you felt her mouth open and close with your hand.
“Yeah.” You reply, taking your hand away from her face, taking a deep breath.
“Have fun tonight.” You say, stepping away from her and turning to the mirror, fixing your own make up.
“Bye.” Malia said, a hint of sadness in her tone.
Kissed your girl that made you cry, boys
You sat on your bed, your body convulsing as the sobs ran through you. Your make up was smeared all over your face, the tears coming down hard and fast. Piles of tissues littered your bed as you kept piling them up.
“Y/N?” You heard that familiar voice from the other side of the door and knew immediately who it was.
“The doors open.” You say through sobs, all the energy draining from you as you fall onto the bed, and you could feel the wet tissues underneath you but you couldn’t bear to move.
“Y/N? Y/N what happened? What’s wrong?” Malia asked urgently, rushing to your side, sitting on the bed beside you.
“It’s……its Jack………Jackson. He hit me again.” You sob, as Malia lies down beside you, letting you rest your head on her shoulder as the sobs rack your body.
“Do you want me to beat him up? I can take him.” She said, only half joking. You laugh at her words, which only brings out more tears.
“How did your date with Stiles go?” You ask, wanting to change the subject, not wanting to keep talking about Jackson.
“Horribly, Stiles is a horrible date.” Malia said, wrapping her arm around you and holding you reassuringly.
“Men are jerks.” You joke through the tears as Malia just squeezes you tighter, letting you know she’s there for you. “Maybe we should just date each other.”
“Maybe.” Malia replies, but all humour has left her voice, replaced only by a serious tone as she stares down at you, her brown eyes staring right into yours.
You don’t know how to react as she leans down, placing her lips on yours, kissing you sweetly, unlike any other kiss before. Before you even realise what’s happening, she’s pulling away, a panicked look on her face.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do that.” Her words start to get jumbled, one word falling into the next as she heads for the door. You were too stunned to stop her as she runs out the door, leaving you shocked and unsure of your feelings.
Girls like girls like boys do, nothing new
It had been a month since the kiss, a month since Malia had comforted you when you were hurt like no one had before. But the next time you’d seen her she acted like it didn’t happen and you couldn’t find the courage to bring it up. So life went on, you got back with Jackson, who was a jerk as always, you never knew why you went back, but you did and it was always a mistake.
You, him and Malia were out his backyard, lounging by his pool. He was swimming around the pool, trying to show off, as you and Malia sat at the edge, joking around by splashing each other.
You felt Malia’s hand glide ever so slightly towards your own, and you couldn’t help but move your own hand to bridge the gap, intertwining both of your hands as you looked into her eyes, a bright smile on her face.
Suddenly, Jackson was in between your legs, forcing his lips onto yours before you could realise what was happening. You felt Malia move away from you slightly, but far enough that you couldn’t reach for her hand without it being obvious.
You pull away from Jackson, a wince on your face as his faces scrunches up in anger.
“What? You don’t want to kiss your boyfriend?” He raises his voice, making you pull away even further.
“Answer me!” He yells, squeezing your arm so tightly you can’t help but let out a yelp.
“Hey, Jackson, quit it.” Malia says from your side, her tone harsh.
“And what are you gonna do about it? Are you gonna kiss her better? You think I don’t notice how close you two are?” You can feel Jackson’s anger rising, so you try your best to stand up and run away, but you only manage to stand up before he grips your legs, yanking them out from under you.
Your head whacks against the stone ground, and your vision goes blurry, but you see Jackson climb out of the pool and walk over to you, and your vision goes blank. You feel him pull your hair, feel your face lift from the cold ground, as he yanks your head up. But then the feelings gone.
You can’t feel his hands in your hair anymore and your head has slunk back down to the ground.
You try opening your eyes again, your vision coming back slowly. You can barely see the outline of Malia, standing with her back to you, her fist clenched tightly. Jackson lay underneath her, a line of red dripping from his nose.
Malia turns around to you, kneeling down.
“Y/N? Are you okay?” Her voice sounds distant but you can understand her words.
You try nodding your head, but nothing happens.
“I’m going to get you to a hospital, hang on.” She lifts you up into her arms as she finishes her sentence, rushing you over to her car, lying you down in the back seat of the car.
You feel her lips on your forehead, kissing it gently before she disappears from the backseat, hopping into the driver’s side. You smile to yourself, letting yourself go to sleep with only her on your mind.
It had taken you a while to realise but now you knew it.
Malia Tate owned your heart.
