Nat’s Glo Up Challenge

So I was inspired to create this “challenge” for those of us trying to better ourselves thanks to the @shrinkingblonde Full Potential Challenge. I absolutely love it and plan on starting it this weekend, but I feel like it only touches base on your daily routine and I wanted something that touches base on a little bit of everything. Thus, I created an outline for my Glo Up Challenge. This challenge entails developing your looks, becoming a better you in various areas, reaching to achieve future goals, loving yourself, treating yourself right, being comfortable in your own skin, being optimistic about life. I organised it in the order I want to work on each thing but feel free to change it around!

Let Go Of The Past

The first step is to let go of the past by tying up any loose ends and close that chapter of your life. You’re starting a new chapter. Somethings from Chapter 1 will follow into Chapter 2 while rest stays behind.

 • Delete/unfollow anyone you follow on social media that you don’t talk to or follow only to see what they’re doing.
 • Acknowledge any mistakes you’ve made in the past. Accept that you made those mistakes but carry the lesson you learnt.
 • Write down everything you’ve wanted to get off of your chest whether it be to someone in your life or a general feeling about something. Once you’re finished tear it up and throw it out. (Or if you’re feeling brave give it to them)

Goal setting

Now that we’re feeling ready to get our glo up on, it’s time to set goals.

 • Where do you want to be in x amount of time? How do you want to feel? What do you want to achieve?
 • Make a list of your goals.
 • Break down your goals into steps and go from there. It’s important to take it slow so you don’t stress yourself out.
 • Set a time frame for when you want to accomplish each part of it.
 • Review and adjust goals and steps towards reaching them monthly.
 • Don’t let anyone put you down or tell you your goals are stupid, irrelevant etc.
 • When you lose motivation (which is completely ok) remember why you started.

Going into this I want the right people surrounding me. People who are going to cheer me on, give me brutal pep talks when needed, and be there with me through the good and the bad.

 • Start by keeping in mind you don’t needs millions of friends. A handful of friends is all you need (if so much).
 • Also, pick your friends wisely because you become like the 5 people you hang around most.
 • Ditch Toxic Relationships
 • If you’re someone who has 30 different people who you call your friends, weed through them and determine which ones would really have your back in times of need.
 • Surround yourself with positive people, negativity can affect you way more than you realize
 • I know it’s said all the time, but join a club or sport! It’s an instant way to meet someone new not to mention you already share something in common which is a bonus
 • Once you’ve established who you’re friends are, make sure you’re loyal, kind, reliable, trustworthy, and a good listener.
 • Also don’t forget to encourage your friends!

Having good health is so important because it affects our emotions, thoughts, and physical body. Having good health or at least working on it will make the rest of your journey throughout life much easier.

 • Invest in a water bottle to have on hand all the time. Seeing your water bottle near you will make you more likely to want to drink water.
 • Try out a Mediterranean diet (I plan on making a different post for that later on)
 • Depending on what your day looks like, stretch 5 minutes in the morning, then exercise at least 30 minutes in the evening
 • Adopt a morning and evening routine to help make good habits and break bad ones. It can also help eliminate procrastination
 • Take multivitamins
 • Meditate - Headspace is an app that has ten minute sessions of guided meditation called Take 10 with Andy. Some of the sessions include fun animations at the start of them so you get a better idea of how meditation helps your mind. There are also mini meditation sessions for when you’re on the go and session tailored towards every age group.
 • Try to get 71/2 - 8 hours of sleep every night
 • If you have an iphone, optimized night shift to help stop the blue light that’s emitted from disrupting your sleep. I suggest turning it on at least an hour before bed. For Android users, you can search the app store for an app that cancels blue light - I believe the one I used to use is called Twilight.

 • Like I mentioned before meditate to get extra headspace
 • Eat brain foods such as: Berries, Nuts, Fish, Dark Chocolate, Avocado, Eggs, etc
 • Challenge yourself. Don’t settle with what you already know or can do, strive to be better.
 • Learn something new, whether it be a language, instrument, or a new word a day
 • Read. Read. Read. 20 minutes a day is all it takes.

 • Get to know yourself, what you like, what you don’t like etc
 • Don’t talk badly about yourself. You’re (one of your) own best friend(s). You wouldn’t talk badly or degrade your best friend so don’t do it to yourself.
 • Stay away from negative people. Literally, walk away if you have to.
 • Be grateful - For a fun project, get a jar and decorate it as you like. Every night write one good thing that happened to you that day and place it in the jar. Then when you’re feeling less than stellar, read all the good things that have happened to you.
 • Practice self care everyday
 • Wear the clothes you feel good in
 • Walk with your head held high no matter what and stand tall
 • When you speak, speak with a purpose
 • Stop apologizing so much, especially when it’s not even your fault
 • Have good manners
 • Laugh at yourself when you make mistakes
 • Empower yourself and others
 • Fake it until you make it
 • Don’t forget to smile!

Now it’s time to get into the physical part of things.

 • The beginning is always the hardest which means consistency (and perseverance) is key
 • Don’t skip meals. Not gonna lie I’m a huge culprit of this.
 • Create a workout routine
 • Exercise a minimum of 5 days a week. No excuses!
 • Eat Healthy
 • Always stretch before you workout to avoid injuring yourself
 • Find a workout partner. It can be a friend, sibling, or even your mum!
 • Track your progress
 • Remember ~ strive for fit not skinny!

Having good hygiene is so important because even when you’re not having the best day it can still determine if you look put together or not

 • Brush your teeth at least 2x a day
 • Floss! I used to shrug it off but after having braces I realized how much of a difference it made.
 • Speaking of braces - where your retainers. You didn’t endure all of that torture to revert back to their original form. Don’t want to wear them all day long or can’t? Then wear them at night.
 • Wear clean and ironed clothes
 • Make sure your fingernails (and toes) are always cleaned and trimmed.
 • Use deodorant
 • Freshen up throughout the day. Carry travel sized wipes, tissues, mouthwash, deodorant etc.
 • Remove makeup before bed - try Pond’s Cold Cleansing Cream.
 • Avoid touching your face and popping pimples

 • First step to taking care of your skin is determining what type of skin you have (Oily, Dry, Normal, Combination)
 • Wash your face morning and night
 • Be cautious using toners - sometimes they do more harm than good
 • Moisturize all over. For your body apply a generous amount to combat dry skin. Also consider trying baby oil gel it leaves skin smooth and stays on all day long, even after showering.
 • Shower with warm water not hot water. Hot water dries out your skin.
 • Drink water! It helps to hydrate your skin
 • Do a body scrub to exfoliate your skin
 • Do a face mask 1-2x a week
 • Clean your makeup brushes
 • Don’t sleep with makeup on
 • Sleep on a silk pillowcase. If you can’t wash your pillowcase every week to get rid of germs/bacteria that can cause your face to break out.
 • Strive for 8 hours of sleep every night so your skin can repair it skin
 • Disinfect your phone with antibacterial gel or disinfectant wipes

 • Try something new with your hair such as getting it coloured or cut.
 • Now some people may think I’m crazy and dirty for doing this but I wash my hair every 1-2 weeks and straighten my hair once during that time IF I straighten it at all. I’m aware that this may not work for everyone depending on their hair type. I’m mixed Caribbean so it works for my hair.
 • Do a hot oil treatment on your hair every couple of weeks
 • Don’t forget to trim your hair
 • Keep your hair moisturized
 • Minimize the amount of heat you put on your hair
 • Sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase and/or tie your hair at night

Nail Care

 • Give yourself a manicure every week. It doesn’t have to include painting your nails, it can be as simple as trimming and cleaning them.
 • Invest in cuticle oil
 • Keep nails clean
 • Keep your hands moisturized.
 • Avoid overexposure to water + harsh chemicals as they can eat away your nails
 • If your skin around your nails start to peel DON’T PICK AT IT
 • Avoid biting your nails
 • Avoid using acetone based nail polish remover
 • Always have an Emory board with you so you can fix a ripped or jagged nail
 • Disinfect and replace tools regularly

Foot Care

 • Comfortable and proper fitting shoes is an absolute must.
 • To get rid of calluses soak your feet in warm water, then use a foot file or pumice stone
 • Lotion your feet and put them in socks afterwards to soften your feet. *It won’t happen overnight so you have to do it continuously
 • Trim nails properly to avoid ingrown toenails
 • Dry your feet well
 • Inspect your feet regularly to make sure they’re healthy
 • Remember to let your feet breathe

 • Try out different styles, Get inspo from polyvore, pinterest, tumblr etc
 • For a classy put together look shop for classic/neutral colours
 • Get fitted to make sure you’re wearing the right sizes
 • Wear clothes that flatter your body type
 • Get your clothes altered so they fit properly
 • Make sure you’re comfortable in the clothes you’re wearing
 • Take care of your clothes by washing, drying, and folding/hanging them the right way
 • Dress for the occasion
 • Keep your outfits simple
 • Try out different accessories to help finish off a look
 • Upcycle old clothes
 • Change out your clothes every season or every Spring and Fall

Make Up

 • Find your signature look. When people talk about your makeup, what do you want to be the thing that sets your look apart from everyone else’s?
 • Go to a makeup counter and get a makeover and get a free makeover. I think Sephora offers free 15 minute makeovers and 45 minute makeovers you have to pay for
 • When applying make up always start with a clean face
 • Start with moisturizer followed by~ primer, foundation, concealer, powder to set foundation, bronzer, blush, highlighter, shape+fill eyebrows, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, lip liner + lipstick, setting spray
 • Some Beginner/Cheap Makeup Brands: Elf, NYX, Maybelline, Revlon, Covergirl, Wet and Wild

 • Get a job
 • Do the $5 challenge
 • Sell your old stuff
 • Start budgeting to help set spending limits and reduce your expenses
 • Get a debit card~ you can’t spend what you don’t have
 • Have multiple sources of income if possible
 • Invest first, spend what’s left
 • Work on paying off your debts if you have any
 • Create an emergency fund

So the last step in all of this is maintaining your accomplishments. If you feel you need to go back on something by the time you’re done or part way through, go back and work on it some more. Also there are lots of other little stuff you can do to help get yourself together. I know it’s kind of long but I hope this post helps you or puts you in the right direction. If you want me to make a specific post on something don’t be afraid to shoot me a message in my ask box. I’m going to be starting this challenge on April 1st and I’ll (hopefully) be updating you guys on my progress as I go along.

Tumblr Tips For Clear Skin

Lemon is a great way to remove dead cells and reduce dark spots! All you need to do is squeeze the juice out of half a lemon and mix one to two tablespoons of honey with it. Apply it to face, leave for about 15-20 minutes and then rinse it off.

Turmeric is a fantastic way to minimize scars and other facial marks along with alleviating allergic, inflammatory skin. To reduce spots, make a paste with one tablespoon of turmeric powder and just enough pineapple juice. Apply to face and neck, leave until paste dries completely. Rinse with lukewarm water and follow this method two/three times a week. To remove scars, mix equal amounts of turmeric powder and gram flour with a little gram flour or milk. Apply evenly on skin until dry. Rinse with lukewarm water and wash off gently in a circular motion.

Honey, this keeps your skin very moisturized and keeps your skin clear of infection! Use raw honey directly on the skin. Let it dry and rinse off with lukewarm water. Do this once every day or every other day.

Aloe Vera has multiple benefits to your skin from fighting off acne-causing bacteria to soothing inflammatory skin. Also, it is a fantastic moisturizer! To apply, extract gel from the aloe vera leaf, apply gel to face with a cotton ball and let it dry for a half hour. Follow daily!

Baking Soda, the home-remedy royalty is a go-to for clearing up acne, pimples, and spots. Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with a teaspoon of water or lemon juice to make a paste. Cleanse your face and apply gently to exfoliate your face. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat your skin dry with a towel. Do this about two to three times a week.

Cucumber -Yes, those movies that use cucumber facials are no joke! Cucumber can improve the overall appearance of the skin because it not only hydrates normal and damaged skin cells, but it also removes dead skin cells. Just cut thick slices of cucumber and rub them thoroughly all over your face. Leave the coverage on overnight and rinse in the morning with warm water. Follow this daily before you go to bed.

Our product, works at it’s best when you have healthy, clear skin!

Jaebum pulled up outside the bar, screeching the car to a halt and lunging out of the drivers’ seat to walk around the car towards the doorway. He found you, shivering in the cold night air, clutching your elbows around your knees as he bent down to meet you at eye level.

“You’re freezing” he mumbled as he quickly flung his coat around you, noticing the long, dried up rivers of mascara that your tears created on his way there. His heart clenched in his chest as he pulled you to your feet, quickly finding out that walking in 7 inch heels wasn’t going to work. He scooped you up - bridal style as he held you in close to his warm body, carrying you over to the car while the many onlookers whooped and whistled in jest at his apparent heroic actions.

“Ignore them” he whispered in your ear as he set you down to open the car door, helping you inside and buckling your seatbelt before shutting the door and joining you on the other side, putting the car into gear and setting off in the direction of home.

“Are you mad at me?” you whimpered, looking at his hand resting on the gear stick as he shifted it to third gear.

“No” he paused, taking a deep breath and concentrating on the late Friday night traffic. “You just, scared me.”

“It’s not like I was going to die. Everyone gets drunk Jae” you sighed as you sank yourself down into the seat, watching him take the familiar turns and roads to your apartment.

“That’s not what I meant. I thought I’d lost you, (Y/N). You still don’t believe me, right?” he looked at you as he parked the car in front of your place, pulling the hand-break up and switching the engine off.

“I do believe you. I was just, angry.” you looked down to the car floor as more pitiful tears began threatening to fall down your cheeks. Jaebum clicked his tongue before ejecting both of your seatbelts, hopping out of the car and running around to help you out too, taking you in his arms once again after locking the car and carrying you up to your apartment. He used the spare key you gave him many months ago to let you both in, helping you remove your shoes before lifting you into your bedroom.

“Lets get all this muck of your face and then get a good nights sleep. You’re gonna have one hell of a hangover tomorrow.” he gave you a sleepy smile, referring to your make-up as he pulled out your removal wipes from your vanity - diligently cleansing your face as gently as he could.

He stood up, motioning for you to put your arms in the air as he pulled your dress off you, un-doing your bra and removing his shirt to put it on you before taking off his jeans and rolling you on to your side in case you would vomit in the middle of the night. He snuggled up behind you, letting his hands place themselves on your hips as he pulled his body closer to you, finally being right where he wanted to be after all the mess that happened.

“What is it baby?”

“I’m sorry, I love you. So much”

He gently kissed your neck, pressing his lips flush against your skin and letting them linger there for longer than usual.

“I love you too. Close your eyes and go to sleep baby. I’m not going anywhere, so just sleep now”.

Im a HUGE skin care junkie but my skin still isnt where I want it to be... do you have any tips??

Hi babe, sometimes your skin isn’t on your side due to other factors.

If you have acne it’s hormonal, you could help regulate these hormones with birth control or a form of oral antibiotics prescribed by your doctor/dermatologist. If you have access to healthcare i’d highly recommend talking to someone about your skin, they can give you products you wouldn’t find in store that are curated to your skin issues.

Other lifestyle changes you can do

 • Wash your pillow sheets 1x-2x a week.
 • Drink tons of water. i’m sure you’re tired of hearing this tip but drinking enough water doesn’t JUST help hydrate your skin cells but also aids in detoxification and keeps everything in your body moving/flushing out toxins that could affect your skin. Drinking green tea or anything with antioxidants will also help your skin while getting your hydration in, just make sure it’s not filled with processed sugar because that won’t help your skin either.
 • Double/triple mask. Use an exfoliating mask to smooth and brighten, a clay mask to purify and a hydrating mask for a glow in that order. Exfoliate, purify, hydrate. This will give your skin a weekly mini facial helping with a variety of issues. Whenever you go get a professional facial they will usually exfoliate, purify/cleanse/clear pores and hydrate all in one treatment.
 • Double cleanse and tone. You’d be surprised how much makeup is left on your skin after cleaning your face! Remove makeup with micellar water and then double cleanse your face. Following with a toner will get rid of any last trace of makeup. Check your cotton pad after your done, it’s scary.
 • Give your skin days off from makeup AND skin care. Just let it breathe and rest and keep it simple.
 • Eat more foods with healthy fats and antioxidants. Healthy fats will really help with those with dry skin and antioxidants keep your skin (and body) healthy and flourishing. Get your micro nutrients in, I like to blend them up in smoothies. Thinks that are dark like blueberries, blackberries, acai, dark kale are extra antioxidant heavy.
 • Get allergy tested. Certain food intolerances could be causing break outs. The usual culprits are dairy and gluten.
Oil Cleansing

“As counterproductive as it may sound, oil cleansing is a terrific way to cleanse your skin… Here’s a fact though: oil dissolves oil. This means that by using the right oils, you can effectively cleanse your skin. When done correctly and consistently, oil cleansing can clear up the following skin conditions: oily skin, dry skin, acne, whiteheads, and blackheads.” - Willow And Sage, Autumn 2016, ‘The Ins And Outs Of Oil Cleansing’ <- aka where this info was retrieved from

-hot water
-soft washcloth

the oil for you:
CASTOR: most effective for cleansing. usually part of an oil-cleansing blend
JOJOBA: good for all skin types, especially acne-prone
SWEET ALMOND: all skin types, especially oily
GRAPE SEED: all types, especially oily
AVOCADO: best for dry/aging skin
ARGAN: pricey !! but good for all types, especially aging

castor is good for cleaning but can by drying. here are variations for skin types:

OILY SKIN: 2/3 castor oil to 1/3 carrier oil
NORMAL SKIN: equal parts castor + carrier oil
DRY SKIN: 1/3 castor to 2/3 carrier oil

to cleanse skin:
“unlike washing your face with soap and water, there is no need to remove any makeup before you begin… using your fingertips, gently massage a small amount of oil into your skin, taking care around your eyes… rub oil into skin for about 2 minutes. place a wash cloth in hot water and wring out excess water. place the washcloth over your face and let it sit and steam up your skin. this is key to removing dirt from your pores. wash out the washcloth and repeat this two or three times. remove all oil residue from your face with your damp washcloth. moisturize as desired.”

in short:
1. massage oil into face with fingertips for ~2 minutes
2. place a wrung-out cloth with hot water over the face to steam skin
3. repeat 2-3 times
4. remove oil residue with cloth and moisturize

Imagine Chris discovering just how much you love him. (Part C)

A/N: Part 2C = more sugar, more honey, and more fluff. ❤️ You can read the related mini-series and the previous parts here: (Mini-series - Masterlist; Mini-series Spin-off: ‘Unexpected Reader’, ‘Little Ways Away’, and ‘She Said Yes’ - Masterlist; ‘Miss Graduate’: Part 1/Part 2A/2B)

Chris woke up to the sound of you throwing up in the bathroom. All that alcohol you consumed last night was finally making its way out of your system in the most awful way possible. He grabbed a box of tissues from his bedside table and walked to where you were, kneeling down next to you to grab a handful of your hair. He plopped the tissue box beside the toilet bowl then gently grabbed another handful of your hair with his other hand, holding it back as you continued to throw up.

“Get it all out, sweetheart,” Chris transferred all your hair into one hand, using the other to gently rub your back. “Let me guess,” he said before you could, “‘I’m never drinking again’?” You managed a light laugh and nodded before throwing up another load of fluids. “Yeah, okay. How about you finish throwing up so I can get some food and water into you?”

“I think I’m okay now,” you drew back from the toilet bowl and sat on the tiled floor, leaning against the bathtub when Chris released your hair and got to his feet. He wet a face towel for you while you leaned forward and pulled a few tissues from the box, wiping your mouth and tossing the scrunched up balls of tissues into the toilet bowl. “Why did you let me drink so much?” You quizzed as Chris wrung the warm face towel in his hand.

“It was your college graduation and you really only get one of those,” he shrugged then turned to you, descending to his knees in front of you. “And,” he gently wiped your face, “I did try to stop you. You called me a ‘party pooper’ and I got offended, so I let you do you.” You laughed then winced at the volume of your own laughter. “You’re okay, you’re young so you’ll recover faster. When I was twenty-two-”

“Ah yes, when was that again? Like a million years ago,” you teased him and he rolled his eyes with a bit back smile. “And I’m not twenty-two yet, thank you very much.” Another eye roll as he continued to dab your face. “I turn twenty-two soon, in two months actually. We’ve got your thirty-eighth, Ava’s twenty-first, and Seb’s thirty-seventh first. Then it’ll be my twenty-second, I’m the last out of the four musketeers.”

“As I was saying, you’ll recover fast. I mean-” he tried not to laugh as he teased you, “if you can talk as much as you just did, your hangover isn’t really that bad.” You giggled and slapped his arm, making him bellow with laughter and you grimace with a headache. “Shit, sorry.” He covered his mouth, shifting his loud laughter to a soft snicker. “C'mon, get up,” he got to his feet and helped you to yours. He put the lid down over the toilet bowl and flushed, instructing you to “go remove your makeup and have a shower. You’ll feel much better after, I promise. I’m going to go get breakfast ready while you do that.”

“Okay,” you yawned.

“Okay,” Chris chuckled, patting your butt before leaving you to it.

You closed the door behind him and stripped, stepping into the shower. You turned the water on and let it heat itself up, shuddering when the cold water splashed on your skin. Eventually, when the water warmed, you stepped under it and allowed the water to run down your body. Your memory was foggy, but you were pretty sure Chris woke you up in the middle of the night to tell you he loved you. You didn’t have a clue why, but you found yourself smiling anyway. That man was a romantic, that was for sure. The way he took care of you, so gentle and so caring- you couldn’t have asked for more in a lifelong partner.

When you finished your shower, you dried yourself and wrapped the towel around your body. You ran your hand over the fog on the mirror to give yourself a small space to see yourself. You cleansed your face, removing all the makeup you had on from the day before. You then admired your bare face, smiling. Before Chris, you didn’t feel beautiful without makeup. You knew you were pretty, but- you didn’t feel pretty most of the time. You saw yourself as average, basic- the kind you didn’t think people would look twice at unless you really dolled yourself up. But Chris? He didn’t make you feel like that, he made you feel as though you were the most beautiful girl he’d ever laid eyes on. That- now that was a feeling you’d never, ever get sick of.

“No barking, Dodger,” Chris instructed Dodger, who barked excitedly when he saw you walk into the kitchen. “Our poor girl’s got a bit of a hangover,” he pouted adorably at you and you snickered, reaching over to scratch Dodger’s head. “I got the cure right here,” he pointed the spatula over his shoulder, “pancakes and bacon, baby.”

“I looove pancakes and bacon,” you stated, letting an excited growl build in the back of your throat; Chris laughed. He turned back to the stove as you walked over, hugging him from behind. “Thanks for taking care of me, baby.” You kissed his shoulder blade. “You’re the best.” You rested your cheek against his back, smiling when he rubbed your arm with one hand.

“I’d beg to differ,” he replied and you pulled away, raising an eyebrow as you moved into his sight. “You’re the best,” he told you and you scrunched your face, facials asking “what did I do?” He chuckled, “the notebook?” He reminded you and you smiled. “I read it all last night, and yes,” he poked you with the spatula, “I cried like the cry baby I am.”

“So you did come and hug me in the middle of the night?” You asked and he nodded. “I thought it happened, but I wasn’t sure. Aw, sweetheart,” you chuckled when he wrapped his arms around you, enfolding you into a tight hug. “I love you,” you hugged him tightly too. “And I meant every word I wrote,” he loosened his grip so you could look up at him, “especially the last paragraph.”

“I know,” he nodded. “And I mean it when I say this, the feeling is mutual. I don’t care what I end up doing, or what I don’t end up doing 'cause- Y/N, nothing I achieve in my lifetime will compare to what I’ve achieved with you. Acting, directing- that is just a job, it’s a job. You, my darling, you are my life now.” You smiled, reaching to caress his face. “I don’t need anything but you. I don’t need an Oscar, or recognition for something other than Captain America-”

“You don’t need it, but you’ll get it anyway 'cause you deserve it.” You cut him off and he smiled, dipping his head to kiss you. “I love you,” you told him again when he broke the kiss. “I seriously, seriously love you.” You asserted and he nodded in acknowledgement, smiling as he booped your nose. “And we are going to get married,” you assured him when he pulled away from you. “You know that, right?”

“Of course I do,” he chuckled as he turned back to the stove. “I didn’t propose to you for nothing, darling.” He said and you pressed your lips together because he wasn’t hearing you. You were trying to talk about, as well as apologize for the long engagement as it was technically your call. He was ready to get married- he’d marry you tomorrow if it were his choice, but it wasn’t; it was yours and you wanted to wait a little longer. “Do you want eggs too?” He quizzed, glancing over at you.

“No, I’m okay,” you answered his question before continuing the previous topic. “And I wasn’t talking about getting married in general.” He turned to you with furrowed brows. “I meant like- 'I’m sorry I’m making you wait so long, we’re going to get married soon’.” His facials softened and he smiled, turning off the stove. “I know I’m being incredibly-”

“Don’t,” he shook his head. “I told you I’m okay waiting, that hasn’t changed.” You huffed with pursed lips, guilt pooled in your eyes. You knew he was just saying that because he was so nice about everything when it came to you. “Sweetheart,” he chuckled and cupped your face in his hands. “You do what you need to do, take all the time you need. Marriage or no marriage, I’m not going anywhere.”

“I know, but I can’t keep pushing it back.”

“You’re just pushing it back, you’re not running out on me.”

“I know, but we said after your Marvel contract ended and I graduated.” You reminded him and he gave you his 'what’s your point?’ face. “And your contract’s ended and I’ve graduated. That was what we agreed on, so- that is what we should proceed with, right?”

“Do you feel like you’re ready to get married now?”

“No,” you mumbled sheepishly. He pursed his lips and used his hands to do a 'see’ gesture. “But that’s not because of you!” You quickly protested, which made him laugh because like he didn’t already know that. “I just- there are some things I want settled before I settle with you.”

“I know, of course I know. Baby, I know you better than you know yourself which is why I want you to settle those things before you settle with me too. That was our original agreement, remember?” You knew he was referring to the letter he wrote you that professed his love; he told you he wanted you to pursue your dreams first. “Don’t worry about me, I’m capable of waiting. I’ve waited thirty-eight years, I can wait a little longer.”

“I don’t want you to wait any longer, Chris.” Your brows furrowed and he sighed. “There is no certainty in this industry, it could take me ten years to find even the slightest success. We can’t afford that,” you shook your head. “I love you, and I want to marry you and give you the life you deserve. I meant what I wrote, you are what’s important to me.” He smiled, taking your hand and giving it a light squeeze. “So give me until the end of the year, if nothing happens for me- we’ll start planning our wedding.”

“Are you sure?”

“Absolutely,” you nodded with a smile, “my career can wait. This-” you gestured between the two of you as you squeezed his hand. “It can’t wait.” He leaned forward and kissed your forehead. “Plus-” you giggled as the two of you pulled away from each other, “I’m young, I’ve got lots of time. My man’s a lot older than I am,” you teased and Chris burst into laughter. “I want him to get married and have kids before he turns completely gray.”

“Watch it, kid,” he warned, playfully swatting your ass as he returned to his pan on the stove. You laughed and hopped up on the counter, watching him as he made a plate for you. “Here,” he held out the plate for you then pulled it away as you reached for it. “Uh uh,” he shook his head and you narrowed your eyes at him. “Not without a kiss first.” He pointed to his cheek and you rolled your eyes, leaning forward. “Ah hah,” he turned his head at the last minute, catching your lips instead.

“You’re a dork.” You laughed softly against his lips as you kissed him back, wrapping your arms around his neck as he lowered the plate on the table to place his hands on your waist. He moved in-between your thighs, letting his smile grow wider as the two of you continued to make out on the kitchen bench top. “You know I’ve still got a hangover, right?” You quizzed when his hands got a little suggestive.

“Mm hm,” he pressed his lips against your neck and hummed. “Which means you’re in need of a little Vitamin C,” he pulled back and winked with a smug smirk. His smirk turned into a eye-reaching smile when you threw your head back, laughing. He swept you off the bench and into his arms, bridal style, causing you to yelp in surprise. “We can have breakfast after, you’re more of a breakfast for lunch girl anyway.”

“If you say so, Evans,” you giggled, wrapping your arms around his neck. “After all,” you felt a similar smug smirk surface as he carried you towards the stairs, “who am I to argue with the guy who knows me better than I know myself?”

Part 3

Here are 20 benefits you didn’t know of; Hydrogen Peroxide Edition.

Here are 20 ways you can take advantage of this small, but mighty, power! (Henceforth I will abbreviate hydrogen peroxide to “HP” and the below uses the %3 concentration of HP that is often found in common stores rather than a %5 concentration)

 1. Destruction of viruses- 3 drops of HP in each ear, and let drain, will eliminate earwax and any viruses that like to fester such as “swimmers ear”.
 2. Elimination of pesticides- Soak vegetables in ¼ cup of HP and 3 cups of water for 30 minutes. After rinse well, and store in the fridge (ensure that your vegetables are healthy and whole to prevent from solution sinking into the product)
 3. Kills off airborne germs- Mixing 1 pint of HP with 1 gallon of water and pouring into a humidifier will kick airborne germs in the bud, cleansing your air!
 4. Clean toothbrush-Leaving a moist toothbrush overnight isn’t the best for oral hygiene. Soak in HP and you’re all set!
 5. Helps with foot fungus-Mix together a 1:1 ratio of HP and water in an amber bottle and keep away from sunlight, apply to fungus directly.
 6. Remove organic stains- Anything like sweat, blood, wine, or food stains can be dissolved with HP and a little laundry detergent.
 7. Protection from swimmers ear-I bring this up in the form of a routine of cleansing your ear as a preventative measure, rather than a one-time fix as I had before.
 8. Treat calluses and corns- Mix equal parts HP and water and soak your feet to soften them.
 9. Eliminate boils-Pour one cup of 35% HP into a bath and soak in the tub.
 10. Skin cleanser-the anti-bacterial properties of HP can cleanse your face as well!
 11. Mouth rinse-Not only will it kill mouth bacteria that cause bad breath, but whiten!
 12. Wound cleaning and disinfection-Small cuts and lacerations of course will be able to heal faster unhindered by debris and bacteria!
 13. Relieve toothache-gargle with a mixture of coconut oil and HP a remedy that has been said to relieve tooth pain swiftly!
 14. Sinus cleanser-Safe enough to enter your nasal passages and clean out your sinuses!
 15. Body detoxification- 1 cup of 35% HP in a bath for a 30 minute soak, and then shower as per usual!
 16. Household cleaner-As a sanitizing agent HP is remarkably well-suited for the job! Use as a general, multi-surface cleaner!
 17. Contact lenses cleaner- In a diluted solution of HP, leave your contact lenses to soak in it overnight!
 18. Refresh reusable shopping bags- Especially if you carry packages of meat that are not always tightly packed and give under duress, do some sanitizing with HP!
 19. Glass cleaner- Allow HP to sit on a mirror and bubble before wiping away!
 20. Lunchbox disinfector- Lunches that leak can provide a shock under the microscope, use HP to cleanse it!

how to be an ulzzang - Skincare

In my previous post I talked about ulzzang Make up, but that won’t be enough to get flawless skin. What’s underneath should be well taken care of. Korea is known for their amazing skincare products and a lot of koreans take very good care of their skin.

I’ll give you some tips on haw to get flawless skin like an ulzzang without make up.

1) Cleanse your face. Use an exfoliater, face scrub or cleansing milk to get of all the dirt thats on your face, even if you haven’t worn make up.

2) Choose a moisturizer or daycream and night cream that is perfect for your skintype. You can add in a toner, essence or serum if you want to take even better care of your skin.

3) Every now and then our skin needs a little pick me up in the form of a face mask.

4) Drink a lot of water. Drinking water will result in more hydrated skin.

5) Eat healthy and avoid sugary and fatty foods, because these can make your skin break out. This shows that not only the products you use are important for nice skin, but also what you eat.

Lastly I’ll recommend some brands that I love for skincare products.

Korean brands: The face shop, skinfood and innisfree.

Western brands: garnier, nivea, lush and the bodyshop.

These are a few tips to get nice and healthy skin. Good luck!

self care and the houses

(not feeling too well recently so here is a little post of ideas to help care for and nourish the body and soul, that i feel relate a little to the astrological houses)

first house - how do you feel? what do you need, what do you want? identify your feelings, let yourself feel them, everything passes and repression only ever leads to destruction. be true to yourself.

second house - tend to your needs. sometimes a mug of tea or a long shower, even a snack, can really make a difference. listen to your body and give it what it needs before committing too much to misery.

third house - communicate your feelings! whether you find someone to talk to, a journal to write in, a blog to post on, let your feelings fly freely in a cathartic rush of words and expression.

fourth house - retreat. sometimes you really need a break from life. find your own personal happy place and practice some distractions or relaxation techniques. find peace, relax and restore yourself.

fifth house - kick back a little! go for a walk, a run, a swim.. put on some makeup and that outfit you love, call up your friends, play some games, take some cute pictures.. have fun and you’ll find the smiles are real soon enough.

sixth house - pick yourself up again. open your curtains, make your bed, cleanse your face and your heart will follow. everything passes, the clouds will pass too, let the rain wash over you and feel every droplet.

seventh house - love. love is the all-encompassing force we all live for in some way, take the time to let love into your life and yourself, and you’ll find some small sense of warmth in even the coldest of winters.

eighth house - reflect. look inside yourself and find your deepest pressure points. how can you heal them? what needs to change? set your course and stick to it, the long fights are hard but well worth the pain.

ninth house - find meaning. write down your reasons to open your eyes tomorrow. look out at the stars, find the true meaning of life in the world around you. feel the world’s energy pulsing through your veins.

tenth house - put your feelings to use. your sensitivities translate to kindness and compassion, your bleak outlook is a realistic edge to a soft heart with big dreams. learn which voices to listen to and find your path despite everything.

eleventh house - expand your horizons! use your gifts to help others, your sensitivity makes other people feel cared for and less alone, your shaky voice is perfect, so put it to use. stand up for yourself and your loved ones.

twelfth house - get some rest. the world is an exhausting place at times, and your unconscious life is as complex as the conscious one. record your dreams, bring spiritualism and gratitude into your night routine. things aren’t as complex as anxiety would have us think.

Lazygirlguidetomakeup’s guide to oily skin.

Oily skin is a common problem that a lot of people deal with. Even if your whole face isn’t oily everyone deals with a little bit of oiliness every now and then. This guide will mostly be for helping people who have very oily or oily/combination skin but it can also be helpful to those who deal with a little bit of oil every now and then.

So first things first, how do you know if you have oily skin?

To tell if you have oily skin cleanse your face and then wait an hour or so. Don’t put anything on your skin during that time. Look at your face and hour after cleansing. If you whole face looks shiny and oily you probably have oily skin.

On the other hand if you look at your face and only certain areas of your face are shiny and oily while others might be dry or normal you probably have oily/combination skin, which is very common since people rarely have one type of skin. For people with oily/combination skin the most common place to get very oily is along the T-Zone. Which is the forehead, nose and chin as shown in the photo below.

Skin care for oily or Oily/Combination Skin

Okay so one of the most important things for taking care of your skin no matter what skin type you have is a good skin care routine. This is especially true for oily skin types because not washing your face and letting that oily sit can lead to breakouts.

Okay so the first step in in good skin care routine is cleansing your skin. You should wash your skin once or twice a day never more than that. Over washing your face can strip your skin of all the oils it needs which will cause it to over produce oily only making things worse.

When choosing a cleanser look for one for your skin type! This is super important because if you’re using a cleaner for the wrong skin type it won’t help and can even make your skin worse. Also not all cleansers work the same for everyone even people with the same skin type. Try out a few see how your skin reacts and pick the best one for you. In general oil free products are good for people prone to oiliness and this is true for cleansers to so keep an eye out for that.

If you have mostly oily skin with no dry patches then a foaming cleanser is really good getting rid of excess oil and helping to control it through out the day. However if your do have some dry patches or just more sensitive skin a foaming cleaner could be too much and strip your skin more than it should.

If you have Oily/combination skin then go for a gel cleanser which can be a little gentler than a foaming one which means it will be less harsh on any dry or sensitive areas you might have and keep them from getting worse. It is also possible you might just need two cleansers one for the oily areas of your face, and another gentler cleanser for the dry/normal areas of your face.

If you also have acne prone skin which is very common if you also have oily skin then look for a cleanser that also has salicylic acid or a lipo hydroxy acid which will help clean our pores, prevent breakouts, and help control oil.

While face masks are not super important to use I find that using a mask once or twice a week can really help your skin. The best mask for oily/combination skin types are clay masks which will help draw out excess oil and dirt from your skin while providing your skin with some helpful minerals. Just don’t leave it on to long or it could dry you out too much. To avoid that just make sure you wash it off as soon as it fells like its started to dry on your face.

So toners can be a little iffy. They are good for helping to control oily but the astringent properties of them can be to harsh and can lead to overproduction of oil so it will depend. If you feel like you need a toner start off only using it a few times a week rather then every day and be aware if your face seems to be getting oilier that that means your should probably stop using it rather than use more.

Try to find and alcohol free toner which can be too harsh and drying. witch hazel is a great natural toner. Or here is a post about how to make your own toner using apple cider vinegar

There are some people who believe that oily skin types should not use moisturizer or that moisturizer will make oily skin worse but that isn’t true. Moisturizer is super important no matter what skin type you have! After your wash the oils off your face it is important to add some moister back into your skin so your skin doesn’t over compensation and produce too much oil.

Again the important thing when choosing a moisturizer is picking one for your skin type. Oil free is best. Personally I like Yes! to tomatoes daily balancing moisturizer which is relatively inexpensive.

Aloe Vera is also a good natural moisturizer for oily skin and acne prone skin. it’s not oil based and won’t be to heavy on your skin and it also has some healing properties which can help with acne .

Always wear sunscreen no mater the season or if you plan on being outside. Protecting your skin from the sun is super important. However some sunscreens can be to greasy especially for oily skin types so go for a gel based facial sunscreen which will be more matte.

Makeup tips to help control oil

 • Always use a primer, It might also be good to invest in an oil controlling primer which can either be used all over or on just the places you get most oily

 • After you apply your primer dust your face with a loose translucent powder then apply foundation and concealer, and then go over again with powder along the T Zone. This will help prevent oiliness and help your foundation last longer especially during the warmer months.

 • Try applying your foundation with a damp beauty blender. Using a damp beauty blender can get rid of any extra oil that might be in your foundation which will help prevent oiliness through the day.

 • When choosing a foundation again look for one made for your skin type. Oil free is always great. Generally liquid foundations, cream to powder foundation, and foundation sticks work well for oily skin. BB creams can work too they are just a little harder to find in a formulation that isn’t too dewy, but they do exist.

 • Stay away from things that say they have a “Dewy” finish this will only emphasize shine and oil for people who have issues with oiliness. Matte or satin finishes are best.

 • Carry oily absorbing wipes with you. Sometimes oil is just unavoidable so when it happens dab the area with an oil absorbing wipe to get rid of oil. Once you’ve gotten rid of the oil then you can go back over with a little bit of powder on your T-Zone if you feel you need to.

 • Make sure not to over powder! when using powder use a large fluffy brush. Only dust along the T-zone when setting your makeup and doing apply powder over top oil. Over powdering is the number one way to make your makeup look cakey which is not good

 • Try a makeup setting spray which can help both set your makeup and help it last longer before your face get’s oily or shiny

 • If you have very oily eyelids and your eye shadow tends to crease throughout the day or your eyeliner smudges then make sure you are using an eye primer before applying your eye makeup. NYX Proof it is a good inexpensive primer good for oily lids.
🔮witch tip🔮
 •
When you want to magically cleanse yourself after a long hard day or calm your mind make tea. And don't just make the tea go all out bless it put honey sigils at the bottom of the cup WHATEVER YOU WANT. My top 10 tips for clear skin

I’ve been asked about what I do to keep my skin as clear as possible so I thought I’d make a list of the top 10 most important tips to keep in mind (in no particular order of importance)

1. Drink LOTS of water. Your skin needs a lot of water to keep properly hydrated throughout the day. A good way to know how much water you should be drinking is to devise you weight by half, and drink that number in ounces of water each day.

2. Cut out the dairy. I’m not saying to dismiss it all together, but cutting down on it when possible will help your skin feel lighter an breathe easier.

3. Use a foaming cleanser. If you want to use a spot treatment or toner or any other addons is up to you, but I highly recommend a foaming cleanser as your staple skin cleaner. The foaming technology helps to remove excess makeup and oils better than normal cleaners.

4. Moisturize. For some, this seems like a step to skip because if their skin type, but I can promise you, if you do the former step, which you should, you need to moisturize. Cleansers dry out your skin, and it can cause even people with the oiliest skin to break out. Lotions can even counter your skins natural oils and help to eliminate oily skin.

5. Sweat it out. Exercise seems to be the answer to everything these days, and it holds true into your skin care routine. Sweating helps to clear out your pores clogged from a hard day at work or school and can really reduce future breakouts. Try to avoid exercising with makeup on to really reap the benefits.

6. Sleep 8-10 hours each night. I know this is really difficult to do when we factor in responsibilities, but sleep is a crucial time for the skin to breathe and repair itsself. The more time you give your body to rest, the better it will look and feel.

7. Don’’t touch your blemishes. Picking and popping it or merely just putting your hands on your face can enflame any blemishes, or cause more to happen. Constant attention can result in permanent scars and marks as well. Cleanse, moisturize, and let your face heal itself.

8. Salt water. If you live in a place where you have easy access to the ocean suitable for swimming in, take advantage of it, your skin will love you for it. If not, heat sea salt slightly in a bowl of fresh water and use a bath towel to coat your face with it. The heat will open your pores and the salt will help to clear them. If you use this step, moisturize when you’re done.

9. Change your pillow cases at least once a week. If we lay our face on the same surface time and time again, we will recycle bacteria back onto our skin. Keeping a clean bed can help your skin stay fresh and healthy.

10. Be Frank. My last tip is to use a scrub called FrankBod if possible. It’s packed with awesome stuff that helps to clear scars and marks and prevent future breakouts. You can order it from any where in the world for 14.95 at

I hope these tips are useful to you and help you achieve your best skin x

poonkelchu asked:

Hi!! I love your style youre just so cute and im making you my new big sister but ANYWAYS how do you keep your skin so clear? Do you eat any special foods or use any special products?

I’M HONORED!!!! <3 Let me be everybody’s onee-chan!! xx

Basic Skin Care

Before diving into the world of expensive creams a serums, it’s best to access your skin type (dry vs oily and any special conditions like eczema) as well as figuring out what is normal and healthy for your skin to do, and what “isn’t”. For example, a common misconception about skin is the difference between sebaceous filaments (which are good, and can’t really be gotten rid of) and blackheads.

The second tip is a tale as old as time but having a good diet. Making sure you take your vitamins, get your daily nutrition, drinking insane amounts of water. If you’re a melanin gal/guy we NEED vitamin D and sunlight especially. I’m going to say this is about 90% Of having good skin unless you suffer from a skin condition (if that’s the case, see a dermatologist please!). Your skin is an organ, and you need your whole body to be healthy for it to be in tip top shape.

Once you know your skintype and what you’re dealing with it’s much easier to narrow out what products to seek. For example, i have dry skin and an uneven tone (most women of color deal with the latter). I’ll go into my personal routine and products in just a moment but before I do let’s talk about organics!

Many over the counter products incorporate these natural ingredients or man-made chemical versions but honestly you can pick up/order a lot of it online and make your own masks/creams/washes/toners! I’ll do a definition list in the future, but here’s some of the many natural ingredients you can use for skin care. Look ‘em up and find out what they do!

 • avocado, cucumber, blueberries, peppermint, cocoa powder, charcoal, pumpkin, calendula, yogurt, oatmeal (exfoliation), willow bark, shea butter, aloe vera, olive oil, papaya, pineapple, argan oil, rose water, tea tree oil, coconut oil, lavender oil, rosemary oil,Dead Sea mud, jasmine oil, witch hazel & lilac, grapefruit, cocoa butter, castor oil, jojoba oil, French green clay, vitamin A, vitamin E, lemon juice, sea salt (exfoliation), dandelion root, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, bentonite, baking soda (exfoliation), sugar (exfoliation), apple cider vinegar, burdock root

The Products & What They Do

Essentially for facial care we have (avoid sulfates, parabens, ect.):

Scrubs - exfoliates and remove dead skin layers
Astringents/Cleansers/Toners - cleans and shrinks pores, removes oily build up
Lotions/Creams - moisturize and soften skin, may brighten and lighten
Gels - soothe irritated skin (as well as above)
Moisturizers/Non-comedogenic Oils - replenishes lost natural oils of skin
Masks - can do any of the above! It’s just left on the skin for x amount of time.

My Skin Care Routine

I begin using using very warm water or a heated cloth to open up my pores. Steam works too. This allows the remove the build up easier. Here you should use a cleanser. For more acne-prone days I use Burt’s Bee’s Acne Solutions or a Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash. If I ned to do a mask because of breakouts, I like the Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask. Repeatedly drying out your skin isn’t good and just like over-shampooing strips the natural oils from your body which signals the body to create an over abundance, hence: acne. So often I’ll just hit my face with the Biore Charcoal Bar or Burt’s Bees Cleansing Oil . Sometimes even just water is fine! After cleansing your face it’s time to seal up, tone, moisturizer and add an topical creams/medicine. COLD WATER will help close up your pores!! Need be run an ice cube or stand in the freezer for a bit, but it works and stops more icky stuff from getting in. After this I use a cottonball and dab Burt’s Bees Rosewater Toner on my face. This further minimizers pores. For moisturizering gels I like to use Boscia’s Hydration Gel, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel, or Hada Labo’s Skin Plumping Gel. I use Hylamide Glow Radiance Booster as an oil. For normal lotions I stick to Palmer’s Cocoa Butter, Nivea, or Ology’s Milk & Honey. I use Ambi’s Fade Cream & Nadinola to lighten dark spots. For acne spot management I use Clean & Clear’s Acne Spot Treatment or Boscia’s Clear Complexion Moisturizer.

I’m also a fan of First Aid Beauty, Lush (haven’t owned either yet), and Sephora’s beauty masks! The brands above are all very great to me. Use sunscreen, or a BB/CC cream with SPF protection in sunnier climates (you can also combine your foundation and suncreen together).

Best of luck on your skin care journey!! xx
