MARS. The near future-ish. A bomb takes out a city block on Harrison Station. The media rush to blame the local terrestrials (re: aliens), however Superintendent Denton Coyle has a feeling that it may not be so simple… or maybe that feeling is Coyle’s hangover gut bomb. It’s unclear… like a 50/50 shot, it’s a mistake or explosive diarrhea. Maybe it’s both? In other words, it’s yet another Tuesday on Mars.
This tale erupts with a literal bang, and follows the efforts of one grizzled investigator on Mars trying to uncover the truth behind an alien terrorist plot… even though everyone else would prefer it just remain hidden.
MARCH 8 / 32 PGS. / Mature, 17+ / Sci-fi, Dark Comedy / $3.99

Today on the Alphabeatdown we’ve caught Captain Cold right in the middle of Cleaning one of his CDs!  See, you think you can leave things in the common room of the Rogue’s Gallery, but then Professor Zoom goes and messes up your favorite Crystal Gayle disc.  This is why you can’t have nice things, Professor.

Enjoy

Well I put it to the people, and the people wanted Labyrinth!  Unfortunately, I didn’t feel like drawing David Bowie’s giant bulge, so I chose a shot that, while it contains a monster, is far less scary.  This movie is totally whacked and weird, but totally unique and has some of Jim Henson’s best creations in it!

Enjoy!

Today on the Alphabeatdown we find ourselves cornered by George Romero’s MARTIN!  Aside from Night of the Living Dead, this tale of a misunderstood vampire who just wants to be normal is definitely Romero’s best movie.

The Alphabeatdown will be back on Monday!

Enjoy

AND HELL IS COMING WITH HIM!  Today’s Alphabeatdown is from one of the best western movies I know of, Clint Eastwood’s High Plains Drifter.  Now I knew Clint was going to make it into the beatdown eventually, and I’m happy it was with this–it allowed me to go a little over the top with the color/texture which was fun

Enjoy!

Z end is near!

Today, for the final letter of the first installment of the Alphabeatdown, we have one of the strangest, most out there movies I’ve ever seen, and that is John Boorman’s Zardoz.  I have to give Zardoz a little credit for being SO out there with its fearlessness in presenting its ideas….but unfortunately the majority of those ideas are pretty terrible.  Also, looking back at some of his odder films, I actually think Sean Connery might be a closet sci-fi nerd.

Enjoy!  And the Alphabeatdown will be back in a few days with a brand new theme!

Aaaaaaaaaaand we’re back!

So there’s not many villains that begin with the letter G, so originally I was just going to go with Gorilla Grodd, but I thought that was pretty boring.  LUCKILY, the internet clued me in to another villain, Gorilla BOSS.  Gorilla Boss is a gorilla with the brain of an executed mobster in his head.  Much better.

SO, here is Gorilla Boss getting drunk in Miami!

Also, don’t forget to check out the teaser for the newest, live-action addition to eatdeadmeat.com!

Enjoy!

Welcome back to the Alphabeatdown!

We’re on to a new set of themed drawings based on a letter of the alphabet, and to kick things off, we have one of the more ridiculous, unfortunately named/design characters to play a prominant role in the DC Universe–Beware…THE ANTI-MONITOR!

Created during a time where there was apparently a surplus of gold tubing, Anti-Monitor was the primary villain in DC’s mega-crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths, and here he is, acting his heart out!

Anti-Monitor acting.  Get it?

Enjoy!

X-cuse me while I whip this out!  Today’s Alphabeatdown was a tough one, because frankly there aren’t many movies that start with the letter X, and I wasn’t sure if drawing a character from X-Men would be a cop out, but honestly it’s not everyday I get to do a drawing of Rebecca Romijn, so there!  Usually those are reserved for Tuesday.

Enjoy!
