classic charlie

Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman Somewhere in Europe Autumn 1973

“I used to photograph in total darkness, I never liked flash, it killed pictures. This is a really lovely sweet picture before they went on stage somewhere. Charlie is so important for the Stones. He’s much quieter than the rest of the band members. He is one of the greatest drummers, incredible. Like a classic jazz drummer, he keeps it all under control.”
