In spite of her ragged dress, the Prince recognised Cinderella immediately. She sat on the garden bench and the Prince knelt to try the glass slipper on her little, slender foot. He found that it went on very easily, and fitted her as if it had been made of wax. The astonishment of her two sisters was great, but it was greater still when Cinderella pulled out of her pocket the other matching slipper and put it on her foot.
