“We are best friends”[Part 1 ] // Jack Maynard Imagine
Word count: 714
Jack and I had been shopping around all day when we decided to grab something to eat. When we arrived at the small sandwich shop, we decided to order. There was only one person in the restaurant other than the older lady that worked at the counter.
“Have you ever been here before?” He asked. “One time with Zoe I think,” I said. He nodded looking at the menu. “Do you want me to order for you?” I asked. He nodded smiling at me. He went to sit down but I took his hand and pulled him towards the counter. He laughed making me laugh.
I ordered and went to grab money from my wallet when Jack handed the lady money. “Jackkk,” I whined hitting his arm playfully. “Y/nnn.” “I told you, you didn’t have to pay for me.” I pouted. “You guys are absolutely adorable together,” the lady said with a smile. “We aren’t dating we are best friends,” Jack said laughing. I laughed. “Oh well you guys would be perfect together,” she said. I smiled and she handed us our food. “Thank you,” I said smiling at her.
We sat down at a table and I handed Jack his food. “Thank you for paying,” I said. “You know it’s no problem,” Jack said. I smiled and ate my food. We finished eating within 30 minutes and was out the door. We decided to head back to Jack’s shared flat with his brother and Josh. “You are so clumsy,” I said laughing and walking into his flat. He pushed me jokingly and tried not to laugh. Jack just tripped over nothing as walking up the stairs.
I laughed harder and looked towards the couch to see Josh, Joe, and Conor sitting on the couch watching us. I laughed even harder if possible and Jack picked me up and threw me over his shoulder. “Jack!” I screeched. “Could you 2 love birds chill out?” Conor teased. “Haha very funny,” Jack said plopping me down on the couch next to Joe. “Crikey you almost flattened me!” Joe said.
I laughed. Jack sat down next to me and I put my head on his shoulder. “When are you all going to date?” Josh said. I grabbed the pillow that was on the couch and chucked it at Josh. “You better watch it, Sugg, stay on my good list while you can,” I warned. He laughed putting his hands up in surrender. I smiled innocently. I scooted closer to Jack and put my head on his chest.
“Are you tired?” I nodded. “You can go take a nap in my bed if you want,” he offered. “Will you come with me?” I asked. “Ooo mate she wants to take you to the bedroom,” Joe said wiggling his eyebrows. I smacked Joe’s arm. “Come on,” Jack said getting frustrated. I stood up and walked into his bedroom. “Don’t forget to use a condom!” Conor yelled. Jack rolled his eyes and I sighed. “I’m sorry,” I said quietly as he shut his door.
"For what? You didn’t do anything,“ he said. "I just don’t understand why we can’t just be friends,” I said laying down. Jack sat next to me. I looked up at him. “Jack are you okay?” I asked. He nodded. “Liar. Lay with me,” I said patting the area next to me. He laid facing towards me. We looked into each other’s eyes. “I’m mad,” I said. “Why?” He asked confused. “Because your eyes are pretty and mine are not,” I said. He laughed. “I’m not joking,” I said. He laughed, making me laugh.
“Y/n?” Jack said. “Hmm?” I said. “Maybe we should try it,” he said quietly. “Try what?” “Being a couple. I mean just to see if we like it.” “Jack I don’t know. I just don’t want to mess up what we have,” I whispered. “We can always go back to being friends if we don’t like it,” he suggested. “Pinky promise me we will always be best friends forever?” I said holding my pinkie out. His pinkie locked with mine. “So,” he said. “See this is already awkward,” I whined. He cupped my face and his lips connected with mine, and in this moment I realized I was in love with my best friend.
Hey! I was wondering what podcasts do you recommend?
oh my sweet summer child
thank you for asking! podcasts are kinda my shit, and i love them.
so here we go.
2 dope queens:
a stand up comedy podcast produced by wnyc and hosted by jessica williams (of the daily show fame) and phoebe robinson. very funny. very diverse. lots of women comedians, lots of comedians of color, lots of lgbt comedians. nsfw
the adventure zone:
a podcast where three brothers (justin, travis, and griffin) play dungeons and dragons with their dad. you don’t have to be into d&d to appreciate it. you don’t have to ever have played before. i haven’t ever played (though i do currently have plans to start, because this podcast inspired me to). it’s hilarious, a lot of fun, and a great story. nsfw
ask me another:
a comedy quiz show (think bar trivia) produced by npr. recorded live with a new celebrity guest every week. very fun, clever, funny, and you’ll learn fun things! 90% sfw, if there’s ever anything that might not be totally okay, they’ll let you know ahead of time.
a true crime podcast put out by radiotopia. they tell a short story from the world of criminal justice every episode. this show is a lot less graphic and scary than a lot of true crime tends to be. short episodes. easy to digest. mostly sfw, if there’s ever questionable things, they’ll let you know ahead of time.
dear hank and john:
a comedy advice podcast about death hosted by john and hank green of the vlogbrothers. funny, sweet, informative, introspective. very enjoyable listen. 90% sfw
if you like youtube and youtubers, you’ll probably like this show. rhett and link interview a different youtuber each week about their lives. very in depth, very interesting, very introspective. the people who’ve been on the show say it’s like coming in for a super intense hour long therapy session. mostly sfw, but not always. you will be warned ahead of time.
game of owns:
if you’re a game of thrones fan, this is a great podcast. the hosts, micah, zach, eric, and hannah recap episodes and discuss what happened. they talk about theories, give opinions, etc. very in depth analysis. when the show is in its off season, they read the books and discuss a new chapter every episode. nsfw
interrobang with travis and tybee:
this is my new favorite show. i donate to this show every month because i love it so much. the hosts, travis (middle brother from the adventure zone) and tybee rant for an hour. they meander from one topic in the beginning of the show to who knows where by the end. they are kind, sweet, funny, smart, thoughtful, and i think really good people. enjoyable to listen to. some of my favorite people. i can’t recommend this podcast enough. nsfw, you are always warned at the top of the show about any possible triggers.
a show produced by npr that discusses the unseen forces that guide and shape the way we live our lives as humans. sciencey, fun, ethereal. sfw
a show that discusses legends, myths, and folklore. the host tells stories about those topics, does research into the real events that inspired certain tales, and tells them in the perfect blend of spooky, fun, and informative. mostly sfw
the hashtag is silent. a show hosted by four millennials (laura, elysa, matt, and andrew) where they talk about pop culture, current events, politics, their personal lives, etc. fun, heated, funny. nsfw
i’ve been listening to mugglecast since i was in the seventh grade, before the harry potter series had really come to an end and there were still theories to discuss and questions to be answered. their latest episode was a review of the cursed child where andrew (also a host on #millennial), who saw the show gave a recap to micah and eric (also hosts of game of owns) and they reacted. let’s just say, no one’s very happy. smart, fun, funny, nostalgic if you’re a harry potter fan. sfw
my brother, my brother, and me:
my second favorite podcast by a very close margin. the same three brothers from the adventure zone (justin, travis, and griffin) host this comedy advice show for the modern era. they take your questions and turn them, alchemy like, in wisdom. it is the funniest goddamn thing i’ve ever encountered. this show has genuinely had a big part in keeping my mental health relatively steady lately. listening soothes my anxiety and depression, makes me smile and laugh, and makes me feel at home and happy. super super nsfw.
no such thing as a fish:
if you like qi, the quiz show currently hosted by stephen fry, you’ll like this show. it’s hosted by the people behind that show. the ones who find all of the crazy facts you learn on qi. each week, they each bring their favorite fact from the past week and discuss! very funny, very informative. mostly sfw.
oh no ross and carrie:
they show up so we don’t have to. ross and carrie investigate claims of the spiritual, paranormal, and pseudoscientific. they’ve joined cults, gotten acupuncture, became scientologists, got their fortunes told, visited haunted ships, you name it, they’ve done it. very funny, very informative, very fun. nsfw
if you’re interested in learning about philosophy and famous philosophers, this could be a good one for you. it’s like listening to a college lecture on the topic. sfw.
another harry potter podcast that i’ve been listening to since i was 13. not a whole lot different than mugglecast. different hosts, different feel, same concept.
formerly of npr, now of wnyc, radio lab is one of the coolest shows out there, imo. basically, take this american life, but all the stories are about science. super cool. super fun. super informative. sfw
a brand new podcast from the same people behind radiolab. this show is about the supreme court. they tell us about some of the major cases that the supreme court has covered and get really into the nitty gritty. super interesting and informative. sfw
now don’t judge me. rose buddies is a bachelor/ette fancast. griffin (of mbmbam and taz) and his wife rachel recap episodes of the bachelor/ette. they know. okay? they knoooow. it’s a garbage show. but they, and all of us listening, like to roll around in that garbage every week and just laugh at the ridiculous people on tv. it’s amazing. i had never watched the show before, but after listening to this show for the last season of the bachelor, i decided to tune in, and ohhh my god. it’s so worth it. that show is a MESS. i love it. nsfw
a marital tour of misguided medicine. married couple justin (of mbmbam and taz) and dr. sydnee mcelroy discuss all of the horrible ways we’ve tried to help each other over our entire history. hilarious and educational! so much fun! sfw
c’mon. you know about serial.
married couple travis (of mbmbam, interrobang, and taz) and teresa mcelroy talk about etiquette! manners, shmanners, get it? such a cute show! travis and teresa are so sweet together, and the jokes are funny and sweet. great! lots of good advice! sfw
this is the last of the mcelroy shows that i currently listen to, but there are more. sydnee (from sawbones) and her two sisters rileigh and teylor talk about being a teenager. rileigh is currently a teenager, and her two sisters are both much older (in their early thirties, i believe). they talk about what was different when they were teens, they ask rileigh about all the crazy things that she and her friends get up to. super fun, sweet, insightful, funny. sfw
stuff you missed in history class:
pretty self explanatory. hosts holly and tracy tell you about things you probably didn’t learn about in history class. very informative and interesting. sfw 99% of the time, you’ll be warned if there’s anything questionable.
stuff you should know:
from the same company as symihc, stuff you should know is very similar, but they cover literally every topic known to humankind. from hoola hoops to serial killers, they research and relay all the information they find. super informative and funny, hosts chuck and josh can make anything interesting.
sword and scale:
this is the other side of the true crime coin. scary, harsh, violent, dark, morbid. host mike goes very in depth with his research on real murders. he talks with experts, witnesses, family members of victims, etc. this isn’t exactly entertainment. it’s informative and a harsh reminder of the reality of our world. nsfw.
this american life:
everybody knows this show.
welcome to night vale:
i don’t have to tell you about wtnv, do i?
i’m gonna post this for everyone to see, because there are several shows here that really deserve the publicity, and maybe someone else out there would be interested! have fun! let me know if you fall in love with any of these shows. i bolded my absolute favorites.

Chace Crawford celebrated his 30th birthday at a party/roasting on the 25th of July.
I wish I had more photos! From what I’ve read, Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass), Jessica Szohr (Vanessa Abrams), and Kevin Zegers (Damien Dalgaard) were all there. Even executive producers of Gossip Girl Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz were there too! I also heard Sebastian Stan (Carter Baizen) was apart of the evening too. Ed took part in the roasting, and I really hope there’s a video of this soon!! Makes me so happy to see how many parts of the Gossip Girl crew have kept in contact :)
Summary - The one based off of Crazy (Handwritten).
You had lived with Jack, Conor, and Josh for almost a year. You had been friends with Josh since he moved from South Africa to London and, once he decided to move in with the boys, he suggested you go live with them too. At that time, you were still living at home and desperately wanted a change in pace. This was just what you needed.
You loved living with those boys. Even though you seemed to be more their mother at times than their friend, you wouldn’t trade the memories you had made with them for anything. There was only one problem in your living arrangement, and that was Jack. Within your time living with them all, you had somehow fallen for Jack. Jack, however, was always quick to prove that he didn’t need any girl to stick around in his life. He let girls come and go, sleeping in his room only to be gone the next morning. You often confided in Josh, telling him how hard it was to watch this happen, but he never knew what to tell you. He always tried to encourage you to just talk to Jack, but you brushed it off and assured him that that would get you no where. It was clear that Jack didn’t need you to be alright, and telling him how you felt surely wouldn’t change that.
One day, you were sitting on your windowsill, sipping a cup of tea and watching the sunset. It was a particularly hard day. You had overheard Jack speaking with the other boys about one night stands and the single life. You knew these were things they talked about often, but hearing it first hand made you sick to your stomach. Why did you have to love him the way you did?
You heard footsteps pass your door, but they quickly backtracked. You turned to see Jack, gazing into your room. “Are you alright?” he asked. “I haven’t heard much from you all day.”
“Fine,” you told him, shrugging you shoulders. Jack saw right through you and walked into the room, closing your door behind him. He quickly seated himself beside you on the windowsill.
“Okay, so what’s really going on?” he asked again.
“I told you, I’m fine.”
You were both quiet for a moment. By now, the sun had set and you were occupying yourself with counting the stars. Anything to keep your eyes off of Jack. Jack suddenly took a deep breath and quietly said, “Josh told me.” Your heart leaped in your throat and you snapped your head to face him.
“What are you talking about?”
Jack cleared his throat, “Josh told me about how you feel about me.”
You felt your hands tighten around your mug and your jaw clench. “Did he now?” was all you managed to say. Inwardly, you cursed Josh for spilling your secret. You should’ve known better than to trust a boy. Before Jack could say anything, you quickly said, “You should go. This is just really awkward now. I’m sorry I’ve ruined everything. You should just go.”
“Hang on, (Y/N), calm down,” Jack said gently, reaching out to place his hand on your knee. “Can’t we just talk about this?”
“Talk? Talk about how awkward living together is going to be now that you know that I’ve been pining after you for a year?”
“No, talk about how I feel.”
You willed yourself to make eye contact with Jack. He wet his lips before speaking again. “You’re literally all I think about,” he spoke. “Whenever you’re not here everything just feels messy and wrong. And it’s not because you clean everything, it’s because you’re the only one who seems to be able to keep me sane. And, it’s like I’ve been with all these other girls because I never really thought that I needed love or anything to be complete. But it’s getting so hard to fall asleep alone knowing that you’re a room over and I can’t hold you. I just, I had this crazy feeling that you felt the same way that I did and that I was just dicking around making you wait for me. When Josh told me how you felt, I just knew I had to talk to you.”
You were quiet. Jack had just poured his heart out to you, and you couldn’t even find the proper words to respond. “I really need you in my life,” Jack whispered again. “And I don’t just mean as a roommate or as a friend. I mean as my girlfriend.” He paused. “You want that, don’t you?”
Knowing only one way to respond, you set your mug down and leaned forward, wrapping your arms around Jack’s neck and placing a gentle kiss to his cheek. “Yes, I want that too,” you told him. Jack smiled and brushed some of your hair behind your ear.
“You don’t have to wait anymore for me, (Y/N),” he said. “I’m all yours.”
Very gently, Jack reached his hand up and placed it on your cheek, slowly bringing his lips to meet yours. The kiss was innocent at first, your lips barely touching each others. You weren’t sure who caved first but, eventually, things got heated. Your fingers were tangled in Jack’s hair and his hands were on the skin of your lower back.
Suddenly, your bedroom door burst open and Josh stood on the other side. “Oi! Sexy time later, love birds! The lads are coming over for pizza movie night. Let’s keep it PG, alright?” You picked up the nearest pillow to you and chucked it at Josh who closed the door before it could hit him. Jack laughed and gave you and peck on the lips.
“Come on, love,” he said sweetly. “We can cuddle on the couch.”
