chuchu art

Finally, after days of working on this, my Kirby group picture is complete!

Since this year is Kirby’s 25th anniversary, I wanted to take a moment to pay a little tribute to the series that started me on the path to drawing since the very beginning. Thank you for all the wonderful years and the wonderful games that came along with it, HAL and Nintendo!

Kirby from anime, games and manga gives me different impressions. Far, far too different.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild was amazing – really made me feel the magic of Ocarina of Time again!! I’ve been itching to do this one… had to finish the game first. :)

Based on Edmund Leighton’s “The Accolade”.

ChuChu is so cute for starters. One of my favorite Animal Friends, but not my favorite favorite. ChuChu is the one female Animal Friend, and sits on top of Kirby’s head. He has a crush on her, I think. ChuChu is supposed to be an octopus, although I always thought she was just a slime. Guess not? But look at her she’s pink and cute and pink.

Just another stroll through the park with your grandpa~

This was a struggle. Adapting the Expressionist style in to a Rick and Morty piece was like… omg. I spent way longer on this than I should’ve. Expressionism is hard, man. -________________-

Based on the painting The Scream (of Nature) by Edvard Munch.

After the last painting my hands were a bit damaged, so I wanted to do something a bit more free feeling. This was a nice exercise in mark making and trying to salvage texture in a digital painting. And yes, I fell in to the trap of thinking impressionism would be simple… but found out it was more than I bargained for xD

Based on the Monet painting “Woman with a Parasol”.
