The Weekly WORD

  • On Wednesday, December 4th, at 7 p.m., we’ll host a discussion of the ever-changing publishing experience with hybrid-publishing aficionados Barry Lyga (I Hunt Killers, Game) and Christine Munroe of Kobo. Have questions about the future of ebook publishing and the future of indie bookstores? Bring ‘em. All attendees will receive a download card for Lyga’s new ebook Unsoul’d and will be entered in a raffle for a free ereader, courtesy of Kobo. Hooray!
  • Thursday, December 5th, at 7 p.m., we’ll welcome some of our favorite Regency romance authors – Eloisa James (Once Upon a Tower), Sarah MacLean (No Good Duke Goes Unpunished), and Julia Quinn (The Sum of All Kisses) – for a conversation with Natalie Zutter of Bookish about romance storytelling, the tension between tradition and innovation, and much more! Following the conversation there will be an audience Q&A, refreshments, and a signing. Thursday night plans made!
  • On Friday, December 6th, at 7 p.m., Vol. 1 Brooklyn will present a reading featuring Kevin Sampsell, publisher of Future Tense books and author of This is Between Us. Joining him at the reading podium will be Julia Fierro, Chelsea Hodson, and Joseph Rippi. The reading will be followed by a Q&A moderated by Vol. 1 Brooklyn’s managing editor Tobias Carroll. New fiction on a Friday night? Done and done.
  • Saturday, December 7th, marks the monthly meeting of two of our favorite book groups. At 12 p.m., the WORD Book Group will meet to discuss Killing Yourself to Live by Chuck Klosterman. Then, at 2:45 p.m., our Romance Book Group will talk Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander. As always, swing by today to receive 10% off your group’s pick.
