soulmate universe where once you’d found your soulmate, in your case Michael, you would still have the ability to hear each other’s thoughts when you were apart. even better though, once you found out three years into your marriage that you were pregnant, you realised that Michael could hear the baby’s thoughts too. while you’d been told that this was an extremely rare occurrence, the two of you accepted it lovingly, as you asked Michael every day what your little bean was thinking. at first, all he could pick up was ‘eat, eat’, or ‘where am I?’ meaning that Michael would have to murmur softly ‘it’s okay, you’re safe and daddy loves you’. however by the time he had christened baby clifford as your little ‘womb nugget’, he could hear light giggles that would accompany kicks as you ran your hand across your belly. and by the time you’d be ready to go into labour, they’d be having full conversations despite baby’s limited vocabulary. you’d be groaning in the middle of the night, because whatever your husband was saying through his thoughts was making baby clifford go crazy, but you’d turn round to find tears in Michael’s eyes as he whispered the revelation he’d heard from inside your belly; ‘he feels so safe and loved already, babe…maybe we’ll be good at this parenting thing after all…’

Ace AIR: Christen Clifford’s Pussy Bow

Program: AIR
Location: Ace Hotel New York
Date of Stay: 09/06/15
Artist: AUNTS with Christen Clifford, Ventiko, Gilf!, Karl Scholz, Tara Aisha Willis, Adams Stark

As previously posted, Aunts rolls deep, and among their extensive crew of collaborators is feminist performance artist, writer, curator, actor and mother Christen Clifford. Recently, Clifford’s practice gave birth to the Pussy Bow, a beautiful scarf based on imagery generated during her stay at Ace Hotel New York a few months back. At $50 a pop, the work is raising funds for Planned Parenthood, and has been described in greater detail via Huffington Post and The Daily Dot

AUNTS was founded by James Kidd and Rebecca Brooks in 2005 and is currently organized by Laurie Berg and Liliana Dirks-Goodman. Guided by core principles of collectivity, cooperation, and sharing, AUNTS generates a constantly shifting environment where artists negotiate the simultaneous production and/or presentation of their work in relationship to one another. Often taking the form of a live event, AUNTS allows audiences to freely move about the spaces it inhabits, choosing their own path and creating their own experiences through chance encounters.
