Please fire me. I work at a small bookstore in an airport. Because of our limited space, we’re very strict about what titles we carry: we only keep books that sell. Sales are carefully monitored and if something isn’t selling at a sustainable rate, it’s pulled from the shelves.

One book we don’t sell is the Bible. We periodically have customers asking for a Bible, but aside from mild annoyance, they rarely make an issue when we inform them we don’t have any. However, I had a customer come in a few weeks ago and ask where we kept our Bibles.

“I’m sorry, we don’t carry any Bibles,” I told her.

“Why not?” she demanded.

“Our store is small and we don’t have the room for them,” I said.

“No room, huh?” she said. She pointed to a book on display called Ghost Bride. “But you have room for books on ghosts?”

“It’s one of our staff picks for the month.” It was my staff pick, actually. “If you’re interested, we do have a small religion section.”

She grumbled a bit, but let me take her to the shelf of religion books to browse. She returned to the register a few moments later with a used copy of A Purpose-Driven Life. I rang up her book and handed it to her, thanking her for her purchase. She lingered by the register, packing her book into her luggage, gathering up her bags, checking to make sure she had her boarding pass and ID.

Once she was all situated, she straightened, looked me in the eyes and announced, “I will PRAY for this store,” and swept out.

The next day I told this story to a coworker who’s been at our location for 7 years. After I’d finished the story (and he’d finished rolling his eyes), I said, “Why don’t we have any Bibles? Enough people ask for one, I’d think we’d be able to sell a copy or two.”

“We used to have Bibles,” he said, “but they barely sold. People would come in and ask for one, but not buy it. They were just checking to make sure we had them. I think we were being tested.”

The Beauty Of Rest🌸🌬

Hebrews 4:10-11- “ (10) For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. (11) Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”

Devotion: Are you well rested? We can enter marathons of work, projects and even emotional warships. You may feel invincible at times and take on more than your body can handle. But remember that God made us in His image and we should rest just like He did. Firmly set aside a day or two after any intense period of work to replenish yourself.

As a young PoC in this country, I am scared. I’m scared for my family, for my future, for my people. He is not my president. How can America vote the most repulsive man? How did we let this country get so bad? How?? He stands for everything we oppose. We need to stick together and pray more than ever. May God be with us all. ❤️✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

this just in: you cannot enjoy fashion/art made by queer artists/designers if you are homophobic. let’s give have an easy rundown of who it is you are discriminating if you are homophobic:

Giorgio Armani

Gianni Versace

Karl Lagerfeld

Christian Louboutin

Alexander McQueen

Christian Dior

Tom Ford

Yves Saint Laurent

Stefano Gabbana (of Dolce&Gabbana)

Dries Van Noten

Alexander Wang

Marc Jacobs

and that’s only the biggest names of the last 50 years. the list goes on, and the world of fashion, as it turns out, is built on queer artists.

See how they hide and wait for me! Lord, angry people plan to harm me, even though I haven’t hurt them in any way or sinned against them. I haven’t done anything wrong to them. But they are ready to attack me. Rise up and help me! Look at what I’m up against! … But I will sing about your strength. In the morning I will sing about your love. You are like a fort to me. You keep me safe in times of trouble. You give me strength. I sing praise to you. God, you are like a fort to me. You are my loving God.

Psalm 59:3‭-‬4 & 16-17 NIRV

(For my queer friends who are being bullied and/abused for who they are)

Today I pray...

That all Chrisitans will unite in love. I don’t really care if your neighbour is really irritating. Love him. I don’t care if the lady in the queue cut you off. Love her. I don’t care if your boss is being crazy. Love him. I don’t care if your friends, were mean. Love them.

And then, they will know we are Christians by our love. BY OUR LOVE.

I love you. Whoever is reading this. I LOVE YOU. With all your mess and your brokeness and sin. I LOVE YOU. Because Jesus thinks you are worth dying for.

Let God’s peace, heal what’s broken in you.’ In Jesus’s name i pray.

New name New me

Hey guys, formerly @calmingstudyblr here!

I made a post awhile back explaining how I was branching off, or taking a break, from the studyblr community. I was unsure if I wanted to continue having a blog because of the flood of anxiety every time I posted. Due to the pressure to be perfectionistic and “aesthetic”, I organized in my blog in such a way that didn’t reflect my daily reality. We are all human and can bend to the desire to attain perfection, however this isn’t what real life is like. I wake up and my hair is disheveled. I have gone to school literally wearing my shirt inside-out. And my handwriting looks like choppy chicken scratch.

Now, I strive to create a blog that makes me feel comfortable and that reflects my personal values and beliefs. Continue on this journey with me if you are curious, as I think it’ll be fun. Yeah it’s gonna get personal and uncomfortable at times, however on this blog you will see an accurate portrayal of the human experience from the eyes of one individual. Hazel. Green with brown suns, earthy in the summer rays.

Listen here, I am an advocate for mental health and I strive understand the world around us. If anyone on here has things to talk about that they are going through, MESSAGE ME! I will always be available as soon as I can to reply to anyone. You all matter.

e·the·re·al :

extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world.

cre·a·tiv·i·ty :

the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work.

I chose the words ethereal and creativity to describe the content of what I’ll be posting. I am connected to the spiritual aspect of life, and I am in a personal loving relationship with Jesus Christ. I owe my creativity all to Him because every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of the heavenly lights. How beautiful is that? With my art, I hope to inspire others and to express my emotions.

And lastly, I hope to bring to the community a sense of acceptance and love, the world needs more of these two things. Thank you,

My life didn’t change for the better until I gave my life to God. He’s slowly molding me into the person He created me to be. Everyday I’m transforming into a better me and I couldn’t thank God enough. I’ve came so far. My past is not something I’m proud of at all, but I’m grateful for a God who forgives. If you’re in a situation right now that seems like there’s nothing you can do to make it better, trust me there is. It’s never too late to surrender. Pray.
