“Mummy, I’m not tired,” Christopher, your 5-year-old, whined.

“Sweetheart, you need to sleep. It’s nearly half past seven.”

“But, mummy, we can’t sleep until daddy says goodnight,” your other 3-year-old said, a yawn following short after.

“I know my loves. But daddy isn’t going to be home until late tonight. I’m sorry little ones,” you sighed, kissing them each on their forehead.”

Charlotte began crying as she responded, “But- but daddy always says goodnight. Mommy, tell him to come home!”

“Oh darling,” you sat down on her bed, looking between her and her twin brother. “I wish I could.”

And at the exact moment, the front door opened then shut.

“Daddy!” the two toddlers yelled in unison as they jumped out of bed and ran out the door.

“Chris! Char!” you hollered, quickly following the twins.

You were really confused, you were sure Conor had said he had loads of meetings today. You went down the stairs, but they weren’t at the bottom.

“Chris? Char?” you asked as you rounded the corner to the living room.

“Hello love,” Conor smiled from his seat on the couch.

“Mum, daddy’s home!” Charlotte giggled from her spot in his lap.

“I can see that,” you chuckled, picking up your son sitting next to Conor. “Why are you home so early babe?”

“My last meeting got cancelled. How was your day?” he asked, wrapping an arm around your shoulder.

“Long. I could really use a bath,” you sighed. “But the kids don’t feel like sleeping.”

Conor looked at you, guilt filling his eyes. “Alright loves, time for bed!”

“Noo!” Chris whined. “We’re not tired.”

“Yeah, look!” Charlotte said then proceeded to run laps around the living room. “Not sleepy at all!”

“C’mon,” he stood, picking Chris up and throwing him over his shoulder. “Up to bed we go!”

“Catch me if you can!” your daughter shouted as she ran into the kitchen.

“Challenge accepted!” Conor laughed, chasing after the toddler; Chris still dangling in his arm.

A few moments later and plenty of squeals, Conor came out of the kitchen, both children thrown over a shoulder.

“Ready?” he smiled, walking towards the stairs.

You followed, tickling Chris on your way up.

Once each kid was in their respective bed, you and Conor stood to leave.

“Wait, daddy.” Charlotte said.

“Yes, love?” Conor smiled.

“Can you sing us a song?” she whispered.

Conor was taken aback a little. The kids have never asked Conor to sing to them, especially to help them fall asleep.

“Of course love,” he sat on her bed, bringing her into his side. “What song?”

You picked Chris up and snuggled up into Char’s bed as well.

“Mommy, what’s your favorite song of daddy’s?” Chris questioned.

“I don’t know,” you smirked. “Does daddy know which one?”

“Of course,” he smiled.

You sat up, waiting for him to start singing.

So crazy to see you smiling, heard he makes you feel incredible,” he sang, looking you in the eyes.

Most people were confused when they found out your favorite song of Conor’s was Just in Case. It was a rather sad song so whenever someone asked you always said ‘it has a special meaning behind it.’

Most people assumed that the song was Conor apologizing to his ex and telling her to not forget how he treated her. But in reality, it was from your ex’s perspective. When you and Conor first started dating, he had written the song for you. Your previous relationship was bad; your ex didn’t treat you right and caused you so many mental, and, traumas. And though not every line directly translates to what he meant, it’s the little lines that do. He had written it as a way to say ‘you don’t have to worry, because I will never hurt you like he did’. It was special to you because no one knew the meaning behind it except you two.

So baby just in case he makes the mistakes that I did, and he don’t see what I miss,” his voice flowed through the room, swaying your kids to sleep. He finally broke eye contact with you as he sang the last note. Your children sleeping soundly in your arms.

You stood up and carried Chris to his bed, tucking him in.

After Conor managed to slip out of your daughter’s bed, you closed the door to their room.

“I love you, Conor.” You smiled, hugging your husband.

“I love you too, Y/n,” he pulled away. “Now how about that bath you were talking about earlier.”

“Yes, oh my god yes. I need to relax.” You said, walking towards the bathroom.

“Oh babe, you think you’re gonna relax?” he chuckled, pinching your bum as he walked passed you. “You’re in for a real treat then.”

“Prove it, Maynard.’

“Oh, you really should not have said that,” he growled seductively, pulling you into the bathroom.

Napstablook Fails at Death

Part 2 of my How to Smash a Writers’ Block event: [link]

Note: I’ve called the first fallen human Chris here coz I don’t think they’re called Chara.

Napstablook saw a bright light outside and wisely shut the window. It looked scary out there and that made them tremble and their skirt waver. They put on some headphones and turned them up loud. They closed their eyes and wished they were gone.

They opened their eyes to find themselves in the dark and black, with noone but a small human child. Chris – the Dreemurrs’ child who had been dead for a long, long time.

“H… hello?” They asked the child.

Chris blinked at them. “Noo… youre supposed to be dead.”

“I’m sorry, oooh… I think I missed it? My own death… oh dear…”

Chris’ face folded in a way that looked utterly terrifying, and Napstablook realised they weren’t sorry they didnt open the door to death, and they didn’t want to die.

“Well I… ohh this is awkward… oooh… I don’t want to die.”
