Boulder Jewel (Platycypha fitzsimonsi)

Also known as Fitsimon’s Jewel, the boulder jewel is a species of jewel damselfly (Chlorocyphidae) which is endemic to the country of South Africa, where it is known to inhabit wooded and forested steams and rivers, and a number of other wet areas. Like many other damselfly species, boulder jewels are sexually dimorphic, with males sporting a distinct red, black, and blue abdomen. Females and immature males are a dark brown color.
