chip metal

teachmemrstingle  asked:

Saw a woman had a chip card so told her to insert her card since it's chip. She argued with me saying she doesn't have a chip card. Like what do you think that metal chip is? When the machine prompted her to insert she was still confused saying she doesn't have a chip card while looking at the chip and touching the chip. Do you read the stuff your bank sends you?

The alarm blared through the base, making you cover your ears with you hands. Several guards ran past your room and you noticed them holding guns.

You got up from your bed and opened the door to your room. Another guard ran past and you grabbed hold off him.

‘What’s going on?’ you ordered.

He gulped and nervously looked at the end of the hall, where the rest of the guards disappeared around the conner.

‘The Avengers are attacking the base’ he explained.

You let go off him and he immediately ran off. You didn’t know if he was eager to fight or if he was scared of you.

Late nights

The twins were high in the night sky.  It must have been half past midnight, at least.  The air was still, as Janyice pressed harder into her swings, cracking wood beneath her weapons.  This time away from combat, made her mind wander.  Not a safe thing.

Moving her weapons in an arc and then stopping them, the metal chipping small chunks of the large logs as she did.  Her face was damp, the sweat from a long workout shining in the moon’s light.  Her weapons became embedded into the soft earth next to her, huffing and breathing heavy her body seemed to finally say enough.  She took a step or two backwards and sat down on a small cropping of rocks on the ground.

Her eyes closed as she steadied her breathing, trying to calm her heart rate back down after the cool down on her workout.  Her top was mated in places with sweat, and the loose pants she wore settled on her legs in patches.  It was then she noticed the quietness.  It was late, sure, but there should have been anyone close by.  The air seemed to shift as that familiar hint of lavender and vanilla struck her senses once again .

There was no doubt, it was utterly unmistakable.  Her eyes shot open.  The voice was so melodic and beautiful.  Almost hypnotic as it spoke out.  How did it even get behind her with no sound.  “It’s good to see you are up and about after everything that happened to you”. She spoke, Janyice turned slightly, keeping balance with one hand.  “I’m harder to kill than a Nathrazim.  The question is, how did you find me?”

She shook her head and smiled, playfully, and spoke again as Janyice rose to face her.  The wan took both of Jan’s hands into hers and continued. “I’m supposed you found my shop again, you seem to remember more than I expected.  You were in bad shape when I got to you” her eyes, they were so enticing, warm, inviting in the moonlight.  As if it was meant for her as a spotlight from the Makers.

Jan felt her body flush, her hands seemed to vibrate as she stood there.  Her nerves were on complete edge, but it wasn’t like it was bad, it felt right.  She just couldn’t explain it.  It didn’t need to be explained, just understood.

She blinked.  “The light truly meant for us to meet again, so it wills so many things.  You will understand this in time.  I am just glad to know you made it.  The injuries you suffered were severe and dangerous, the fact that you are standing here is proof that you are much stronger than you think you are”. The half elven woman tilted her head with a smile as she let her hands slip from Janyice’s.

The elf, stood for a moment, her body seeming to lose its color, as if the spotlight had been turned off.  Her eyes looked like they lost color and she stumbled forward.  Janyice stepped forward, hands on her arm and shoulder to attempt to steady the smaller framed woman, only to have her touch shrugged away.  “A-are you feeling alright?”. Janyice watched the half elf step past and shake her head.  “I am fine, I must go.  The answers you seek will come in time.  Do not forget that.  When you remember everything.  Find me”. And then, like a leaf in the wind, she was out past the archways and gone, out of sight.

Janyice stood, blinking, unsure as to what had just happened, the fresh sent of the lavender and vanilla seemed to trail off into the night air.  Looking at her hands, Janyice raised them up, they looked so normal and for a moment she was whole.  She blinked hard at a realization, then looked again.  One arm flesh, the other arm metal.  No, that couldn’t have been a dream, she thought.  I could feel it.

More questions, even less answers.  She needed sleep, that would clear things up.

Someone talk to me about Swindle and counterfeiting

How would that work w/ shanix? Are they metal pieces? Chips? Coins? There only seems to be the single unit of measure, but it doesn’t make sense for there to only be one coin unless for larger amounts you /have/ to pay for things digitally. Are credits one-to-one equivalent w/ shanix, one just the physical representation of the other? It’s not exactly easy to manifest money out of nowhere digitally, but it’s probably easier to do so when you do a lot of interplanetary trading. Swindle is a businessmech, he can probably spot fake money a mile away, but would he want to be involved in making it?

Idek, but I feel like he has standards. He’ll only use money that can fool him, and he’s v v good at spotting a counterfeit. Depending on how that money is made, it probably requires a specialist’s touch. An artist, perhaps, or if the design of the currency is more rudimentary than artistic, maybe someone who can duplicate the exact metallic makeup of it

There sounded a knock on the door of your room. You got up form your couch and went to open the door.

Steve was standing in front of you with his arms crossed. ‘Tony wants you in the lab. He wants to run some tests on you.’

You sighed and walked out of your room. You closed the door behind you and followed Steve through the compound.

This was the second time this week that Tony wanted to run tests on you. He just couldn’t figure out how your powers worked and it was getting annoying. Unfortunately for you, you couldn’t say no to Tony.

tony stark is odd socks and black coffee, a walking mess of windswept hair and sky bruised eyelids. he is metal hearted, a man who built himself wings so he didn’t have to be scared of falling any further. but sometimes the cracks in his smile get too big and you can see through to whats really inside, mouth crammed full of starfire, and its burning him up from the inside

he’s just another hollowed eyed, lost boy, reaching for the sun. he builds himself wings and he flies because he’s always falling and it’s true, what they say, about it feeling the same. he’s chapped lips and coffee rings, he’s chipped paint and worn metal. he’s iron against skin and rusted bones, he is breathtaking. - ohsebs

A Ghost Story - DP

Happy Halloween!

Warning for long post. 13,000+ words.

It was a toy airplane, and it had definitely seen better days. Rust clung to metal, paint chipped off plastic wings, and one of the little wheels was missing. Perhaps it had been a well-loved toy. Perhaps it had simply been left in the elements for too long. Perhaps it was a little of both.

Either way, it was carefully cradled in one of Maddie Fenton’s hands. Her other hand held a small tracking device that detected the levels of ectoplasmic energy around them. Every time she swung her detector too close to the toy plane, the readout would spike. Not enough to actually indicate a ghost - but enough to show that the plane was supernatural in its own way.

“Come on,” she whispered as she walked slowly through the Amity Park graveyard. She pointed her detector at every headstone, hoping for a ping of energy that would match the toy. Having covered most all of the graveyard already, she was losing hope. The gravestones still stretching ahead of her were weathered and worn; she was in the oldest section.

“It’s just not worth it, Mads.” Jack trailed behind her, hands stuffed into his pockets. He’d lost interest almost an hour ago.

A late October breeze made the remaining leaves on the trees rustle, and the brown dead leaves around her feet swirl and dance. Maddie shivered and looked up. Puffy clouds raced across the sky overhead. The weatherman had issued a frost advisory for that night, and a strong chance for cold rain the next day. She had to do this today - she certainly wouldn’t want to be out in the weather tomorrow.

“Just a little more,” Maddie replied, even though she knew there was no chance the plastic and metal toy airplane had belonged to anyone buried under such old headstones. “I’m almost done.”
