Sherlock Songs

So basically this post was the creating of something me and my friend Hana were talking about earlier today. We were basically talking about songs which remind us of BBC Sherlock (these are also some of the songs I’m listening to to get rid of my writers block lol). Feel free to add your suggestions in the comments but this is what we’ve come up with so far :)

“Chim Chim Cher-ee (East Wind)”- From the film Saving Mr Banks:

This one is a bit of a weird one- but oh my lord did me and Hana combust when we listened to it. Of course we linked it back to Eurus when we listened to it, but it also reminded me of the idea that Series Four was all made up in Sherlock’s Mind with the line “I feel what’s to happen has happened before”.

“Icarus”- Bastille

This is one of the songs that I just love anyway, but the first few lines is just SHERLOCK!

Look who’s digging their own grave
That is what they all say
You’ll drink drug yourself to death

I cannot talk about this enough, this is one of my go to songs when writing, I love it so much. Why on earth didn’t they release it as a single, it doesn’t get enough recognition.

“I’m Still Standing”- Elton John

If you follow me or have read my “Dream” post- you’ll understand why I put this on the list. If WHEN Moriarty comes back, this is the song I hope he comes back with (its bloody Jim Moriarty- he’s gonna have a song). It’s from around the same era as the other two (Staying Alive and I Want To Break Free) and its just ajswhwdqygdiqg. I cannot listen to this song and not think of the beauty that is Jim Moriarty.

“Hey Jude”- The Beatles

Hey Jude is one of the songs that remind me of John at the end of The Reichenbach Fall. Its one of my favorite songs to listen to when I’m sad, and its always on in my house. The “na na” sequence is so iconic. I just imagine John listening to it, humming it, wishing Sherlock was with him, him humming too.

“Amsterdam”- Coldplay

Another song that doesn’t get enough recognition- Chris Martin’s voice in this gives me the chills. It reminds me of (again) John at the end of Reichenbach, but the lyrics remind me of Sherlock- him hiding from John, wanting to talk to him. Especially with the lines:

And I know I’m dead on the surface
But I am screaming underneath

How accurate is that?

This was just a selection of the songs of the playlist. As I said, these are the songs I listen to when I’ve got MAJOR writers block (I really am trying to write the dream fanfiction), feel free to comment songs that remind you of Sherlock or relieve you from the dreaded writers block

Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim-in-ey
Chim chim cher-ee!
A sweep is as lucky, as lucky can be
Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim-in-ey
Chim chim cher-oo!
Good luck will rub off when I shakes ‘ands with you

Or blow me a kiss and that’s lucky too

Now, as the ladder of life 'as been strung
You might think a sweep’s on the bottommost rung
Though I spends me time in the ashes and smoke
In this 'ole wide world there’s no 'appier bloke

Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim-in-ey
Chim chim cher-ee!
A sweep is as lucky, as lucky can be
Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim-in-ey
Chim chim cher-oo!
Good luck will rub off when I shakes 'ands with you

Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim-in-ey
Chim chim cher-ee!
A sweep is as lucky, as lucky can be
Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim-in-ey
Chim chim cher-oo!
Good luck will rub off when I shakes 'ands with you

I choose me bristles with pride, yes, I do
A broom for the shaft and a brush for the flute
Up where the smoke is all billered and curled
'Tween pavement and stars is the chimney sweep world
When there’s 'ardly no day nor 'ardly no night
There’s things 'alf in shadow and 'alfway in light
On the rooftops of London coo, what a sight!

Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim-in-ey
Chim chim cher-ee!
When you’re with a sweep you’re in glad company
Nowhere is there a more 'appier crew
Than them wot sings, “Chim chim cher-ee, chim cher-oo!”
On the
Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim cher-ee, chim cher-oo!
