chilicheeseburgers

What a Weekend!

Well, the hubs and I went out to a burger joint yesterday.

What did we have?

Chili cheese burgers topped with coleslaw and potato chips, tomatoes, pickles, lettuce and chipotle southwest ranch. Served with battered, deep fried dill pickle chips.

Yeah…

We enjoyed a lovely chamber music concert this afternoon. Songs of Love and Doom. It was amazing.

And then we went to Senior Tequila’s and I had their quesadilla roja aka chicken and cheese quesadilla with lettuce, tomato, sour cream and enchilada sauce. Served up with a side of never-ending tortilla chips and salsa.

Let’s just say I’m a strong advocate for changing weigh-in to Fridays.

I so don’t want to weigh-in tomorrow.

Carney’s Chili Cheeseburger by Doran

Once, the Carney’s in Hollywood was a regular stop, usually late at night. But I haven’t been there in years, and it had been even longer since I visited the one in Studio City. But there I was, hungry on Ventura Blvd. when I saw the familiar train car and decided to turn into the parking lot. I ordered a chili cheeseburger and fries and they were terrific, though next time I’ll remember to order the fries well done. The burger itself was simple and very good on a sunny San Fernando Valley afternoon. I like the Carney’s chili a lot more than Tommy’s, and the burger patty here seems a bit more generous than at the usual burger place. The veggies were fresh and the bun was soft but substantial enough to hold everything in. The staff was super friendly and the price was right. I got there just before the lunch rush, so I didn’t have to wait 20 minutes in line like some who came after me. All in all it was just what I wanted. Burger and fries, about $6.
