Another warm up painting from the other day, loosely based on one of my childhood kitties.  She was an excellent judge of character – she liked my (now) husband right away!

My half of my art trade with the AMAZING @taryndraws!  We share a love of tea and witches, so naturally I had to paint a tea witch for her.  I imagine this witch cultivates her own plants to concoct some kind of healing brew, and of course uses magic to do so.

By the way, I’ve started using my Instagram story to post process photos of my paintings, so if you’d like to see all the rough sketches etc that come before the final piece, head on over to my Instagram to check it out!

Happy 113th birthday to you, Dr. Seuss! We’re celebrating the birth of this genius of writing illustration with his children’s book Happy birthday to you!

As Funicular Goats take the birthday child to the Birthday Flower Jungle and the Birthday Pal-alace with its fifty-three hamburger stands, Dr. Seuss reminds them, “Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!”

Seuss. (1959). Happy birthday to you! New York: Random House.

My six-year-old niece saw me drawing and asked:

-,What are you drawing?
- I’m drawing Loki.
- Ah! Loki of The Avengers?
- Yes! Do you know him?
- Yes, I know! He destroyed New York, right?
- That’s right! Do you want to draw it too?
- Yes, please.

I gave her a sheet of paper and a pencil. She preferred the ballpoint pen. Then it resulted in a very simplified version.

It is worth mentioning that I LOVE children’s drawings!
