“I said be home by seven, (Y/N).” Alex stared at me with her arms crossed. “What time is it now?”

“Eight.” I mumbled. Technically it wasn’t my fault I was an hour late. Jackson offered me a meal and I couldn’t take that deal down since it was rare.

“Yes, and we’re late for the party. Sit down and don’t make a sound.” Alex hissed as she grabbed my hairbrush.

As Alex did her magic, I sat there and started to let my thoughts wander. What if Mark was at the party? What if he had a girlfriend? I mean, a boy with good looks could get any girl with just his glare.

But what if I did meet him at the party, what would I do? Approach him? Flirt with him? I’ll probably do anything to grab his attention even if it’ll seem stalkerish.

“Hello? (Y/N)?” Alex waved her hand in front of my face, interrupting my thoughts.

“Sorry, uh what?” I stammered.

“Put on the dress I set on your bed. Come back quickly, we’re late.” Alex demanded, pushing me out of the chair.

I quickly scurried over to my bed and put on a black chiffon dress. It was cute, simple and something I would usually wear. Alex knew my style and she knew I wasn’t aiming to be sexy. Quickly getting dressed, I grabbed a pair of heels and ran out the door with Alex.

The music could be heard from miles away and it was loud. As Alex drove near to the music, I started to feel a bit nervous. Not only was Mark there, but Jaebum would be in the same room. Maybe it was a bad idea coming to the party. What’s the point anyways when none of the guys are going to look at a girl who isn’t wearing something revealing?

“Welcome, grab a drink and party hard.” A guy greeted us at the door. Alex smiled and grabbed my hand as she dragged me into a room full of drunk college students. A few of them I recognized from my class and others were grinding hard to the music. Being curious, I tried to scan the room and find Mark but it was too dark to see anything.

As I looked over to the side again, I saw Jaebum in the corner with his group of friends. His dyed brown hair slicked back, white t-shirt with a leather jacket and his killer smirk. The bright lights illuminated his features on his face. Damn, he was looking fine. All of a sudden, Jaebum looked up from the guy he was talking to and made eye contact with me. Before I could react, Jackson came up and gave me a hug.

“(Y/N)!” Jackson beamed. “Look who finally came to a party.”

“It took a lot of convincing.” Alex laughed as she and Jackson hugged.

As Alex and Jackson talked, I stood there scanning the crowd again. I felt some kind of disappointment because, the guy I bumped into this afternoon wasn’t here. I sighed as I leaned against the wall. Alex seemed to have disappeared into the crowd while Jackson was probably flirting with a girl. And here I am, debating if I should walk back to dorm or stay.

“Someone’s a bit lonely.” A voice said. I turned my head and came face to face with the one and only Jaebum.

“What do you want?” I asked bitterly, knowing our embarrassing past wouldn’t get us anywhere.

“I don’t know,” Jaebum smirked, “Maybe I just want to have some fun.”

I raised my eyebrows and looked at him with disbelief. Was he really flirting with me now? In high school I would’ve died if he said that to me. But not today. “Tell that to the countless drunk girls in this room. I bet they want a taste of you.”

“You’re extra salty today.” Jaebum sighed, as he leaned against the wall with a drink in hand. “What’s wrong?”

Without even thinking, I grabbed Jaebum’s cup and drank the burning alcohol remaining in the cup. The liquid burned down my throat as I sighed. Usually, I wouldn’t be like this but today wasn’t really my day.

“Look, Jaebum,” I said, handing his cup back, “We may have been childhood friends and I had a crush on you in highschool but that doesn’t mean you can come up to me and ask what’s wrong. You left me alone in highschool so you could be popular, embarrassed me in front of the whole school because I tripped once on my feet and spilled your lunch. You have no right to ask me those type of questions.”

“Dammit, (Y/N). The past is past.” Jaebum said, with a slight anger in his voice.

“Then stay awa-” I started to say before someone caught my eye.

There he was. His styled blonde hair shining in the light and his smile radiating like the sun. Mark Tuan walked through the front door with his group of friends and about ten girls ran up to them. I watched as Mark pushed through the crowd and got himself a drink, ignoring the girls around him. Without even knowing, I felt a smile creep up to my lips as I watched Mark. He was perfect.

“Can you get me a drink, Jae?” I asked without taking my eyes off Mark.

“Why?” Jaebum asked.

“Maybe I just want to have fun.” I smiled.

Soon enough, a drink became five drinks and a dance became grinding on each other. The burning alcohol wasn’t so bad anymore and the people around me became my friends for only the hour. As the bright lights lit up the room, I swayed to the music and hope that Mark would see me. But he was nowhere to be seen. And I was too drunk to notice he was gone.

Another song came on and I started to feel a slight headache from the intense dancing. My stomach curled and I felt like I was going to throw up. I pushed my way through the crowd, a hand to my mouth. I needed help. Quickly running around, I spotted Alex in the corner flirting with this guy. Maybe Jackson could help? But as usual, he was too drunk himself to comprehend what was about to happen.

Shaking my head, I ran up the stairs of the room and started to scan for bathrooms. The upper level was full of people. And I mean people who wanted to get some. My stomach grumbled as I ran down the hallway, ignoring those who were furiously making out.

One of these doors must be a bathroom, I thought.

I stopped at the end of the hall, and my stomach feeling worse than ever. I couldn’t hold it in anymore. Without even thinking, I opened the nearest door hoping it’ll be a bathroom and, threw up. Falling to my knees, I grabbed my hair and moaned in pain.

Lesson number one; never drink too much when you don’t even drink at all.

Lesson number two; make sure you know where the bathroom is before drinking.

“What the fuck?” a deep voiced yelled.

I looked up to see a lean, toned, half- naked man with his arm crossed. My vision blurred as I started to figure out who the person in room was. Blonde hair, pale skin and, handsome features.

Holy shit. It’s Mark Tuan.

In honour of hard carry, here’s chapter 1 for y’all. BUT LIKE HARD CARRY GOT ME SHOOK LIKE IDK WHO MY BIAS IS ANYMORE.

“We’re born alone, we live alone, we die alone. Only through our love and friendship can we create the illusion for the moment that we’re not alone.” - Orson Welles

I still remember the day we met, I remember it as if it were yesterday. Do you remember?  You were a trainee, and I was just the sister of one of your seniors. I accidentally walked into the room while you were practicing, and when your eyes met mine I knew that your eyes were the ones I wanted to look into for the rest of my life. We spent hours in that practice room, just talking about both of our lives and learning everything there is to know about one another. I even forgot about meeting with my brother and why I had visited SM that day, that’s how captivating you were.

Do you remember our one year anniversary? Johnny told me that the whole week before you did nothing but worry and drive yourself crazy thinking of what you should do. You wanted everything to be perfect for me. I wish you knew then that no matter what you did, it would be perfect because you were there. As long as you were with me, that’s all I ever needed in life. That was the first time you told me you loved me. I’ve never experienced a more perfect moment than that.

I got street-harrassed yesterday, walking with a friend in my quaint, historic southern hometown. on the Disney-looking Main Street, middle of the day. for those who would ask, I was wearing a black chiffon dress with lacy cutouts at the waist. that doesn’t make me prey. that makes me practical. it was 86 degrees out, and even if I’d been stark naked, I’m not here for anyone else’s amusement

and the thing is, the boys around here should really know better. because the girls around here are…well, from around here

some of us grew up with the smoke of long-lost cannon in our breath. Virginia creeper twining around our bones. soldiers in blue or gray asking us for a dance. faceless, nameless spectres plucking at our clothes; playing with our strings. whispering our names down dim halls

I may be spirits’ favorite toy, but I’m sure as hell not yours

you breezed past in your truck, windows down, blaring some song about tits-ass-hey-baby-bend-over at me and asking if I knew it. I couldn’t make out all your words, but I knew the tone as well as any woman does. you’re young and male and you’ll live forever. I’m young and female and occupying your space and I’m your property

you won’t live forever. enough people in this town already know that, and they can see you even if you can’t see them

some of them like me. can you say the same?

didn’t your mama teach you how to talk to a lady? we’re all ladies, every one of us: born or found, white or brown, wearing pretty little Lily Pullitzer sweaters with a monogram or dressed all in black. and around here, ladies have teeth

so keep on taunting me, little boys. you’ll never have a night’s rest again I was born of this place, its bloody streets and its deep magic. I’m the prettiest damn southern belle you wish you never saw
