Ever find one of those nightmarish comic booklets with bad, bad art and horrible, horrible theology in it? With names like “DARK DUNGEONS” or “DEATH COOKIE” or “THIS WAS YOUR LIFE”, and ugly secularists, weirdly drawn but supposedly attractive evangelists, and a faceless God exhorting you in the words of the King James translation of the Bible?

Those were Chick Tracts, brought into the world by Jack Thomas Chick and his publishing company.

And the man who brought them to you passed away this week at the age of 92.

He’s the one on the left. Publication continues, of course, but the man himself has met the only consistently nice character in any of his tracts.

May he rest in peace.
