The World’s Pastime Exposition opened in Chicago on July 3rd, 1886 and was intended to run for 100 days. The exposition was to feature indoor and outdoor sporting contests as well as exhibits about recreation. However, mismanagement led to the exposition only being open for one official day.

This promotional item shows an illustration of  “Professor Payne’s Gorgeous Pyrotechnic Display The Last Days of Pompeii” which was to be featured on the opening evening and “twice each week during the continuance of the Exposition.”

NBC to Donald Trump: You’re fired

NBC said Monday that it is ending its business relationship with mogul and GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump because of comments he made about Mexican immigrants during the announcement of his campaign.

The network said it would no longer air the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, which had been a joint venture between the company and Trump. Miss USA has aired on NBC since 2003, and this year’s edition was set for July 12.

“At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values,” NBC said in a statement.

you can break my soul,
                  take my life away,
                  beat me,
                  hurt me,
                  kill me.

but for the love of god
                                                 don’t touch him.
