We decided that we were going to make a night of seeing The Curious Incident and go out to dinner near the theater. I decided to wear a new red/cherry print halter dress I just bought, and the hubby wore a suit. We arrived, ate dinner, got up to leave, and just as we left he turned to me and said, “There were like SIX guys that gave you the elevator just now!”
This is what he means by the elevator:
Now, my first husband would have said that with the tone that meant I looked “too…” whatever - suggestive, uncovered, busty, etc; and I would have taken it seriously, since I was raised that how men looked at me was directly my fault (the old christian “men have to be saved from themselves but yet you have to submit to them” BS). So when the hubby said this, I immediately thought he was upset or felt threatened.
I looked up at him and he had this glowing and even - shall I say - smug look on his face. He just held me tighter and said, “They wish they could,” and gave me a kiss. “You’re so fucking beautiful.”
