cherry blossoms are gorgeous

Hey Meaghan, so for spring break I'm going with my mom to D.C., and we're both big history buffs, so I was wondering if you have any recommendations for spots to visit or anything like that?

Tragically, I’ve only ever been to D.C once. It’s crazy. But off the top of my head, this is a list of things I saw/would love to go to, and I know my followers would have some awesome suggestions too!

  • THE OLD SENATE CHAMBER. SEE SUMNER’S DESK. SEE WHERE THE CANING TOOK PLACE. I HAVEN’T BEEN BUT I WANT TO BE THERE.
  • Ford’s Theater. I haven’t been there, but it’s been on my bucket list forever, and it’s park service, so that just makes it better in my humble opinion haha.
  • If they’re out yet (they might be, with the weather being weirdly warm), check out the cherry blossoms along the Potomac. They’re gorgeous.
  • THE SMITHSONIAN. IT’S 100% FREE, AND IT IS ONE OF THE BEST MUSEUMS I’VE EVER VISITED. I am obviously partial to the Museum of American History, because it has so many cool and amazing things. 10/10, please check it out. They also have a cool natural history museum, and if you like aviation/space, the Air and Space Museum is really cool too.
  • National Museum of African American History and Culture. I have never been to it, since it just opened, but I know it would be worth anyone’s time to check it out. A super important aspect of American History that deserved a museum a long time ago. I’m glad it finally exists.
  • Lincoln Memorial. I can’t describe how awe inspiring this memorial is. Please check it out if you get a chance. I know I am super in love with Lincoln, but even if you’re neutral or whatever, it is a must see.
  • Vietnam Memorial. It’s heartbreaking. It’s absolutely heartbreaking. But that’s why it’s so important. It’s right on the mall, so you can hit a lot of the monuments back to back. Which leads to the next one:
  • The WWII Memorial. It’s gorgeous. And like I said, it’s right by the Vietnam and Lincoln Memorial, so you can see all of them rather quickly.
  • Washington Monument. You…. really can’t miss it. You don’t even have to go, you literally cannot avoid seeing it.
  • NATIONAL ARCHIVES. GO FULL BEN GATES. STEAL THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE*. SEE OUR FOUNDING DOCUMENTS IN PERSON.
  • Library of Congress. I’ve never been, but I do know they have tours, and I’m sure it’s gorgeous.

*do not actually steal the Declaration of Independence. I do not endorse this.

Celebrity Crush. Sebastian Stan is always going to be up there. I think he probably ties with Matthew Mercer for me. They are both such nice, sweet guys who actually care about the people around them.

Favourite Flower. Alas, I am allergic to a lot of flowers, but aesthetically I really love cherry blossoms and roses. Practicality wise, lavender is amazing. It is gorgeous, and so useful.

Something You’ve Checked off Your Bucket List. Visiting Japan. I was able to check that off for my honeymoon in 2014, and along with that, I was able to visit Tokyo Disney, which was also on the list. It was an amazing two weeks, and I cannot wait to return next year.

a lot of my weibo & TL were getting excited about cherry blossoms this morning and I didn’t realize why but SouRin’s ending scene at the Samezuka pool CHANGED. THEY ADDED CHERRY BLOSSOMS TO THE BACKGROUND ・(/Д`)・ LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL (ノД`)・゜・。
