cheese bun time

anonymous asked:

Where was Gale during the cheese buns time?

I don’t know. Probably working in the mines. Apparently, Katniss wasn’t noticing because we don’t hear another word about him until cheese buns and ogling are over.

Katniss was busy…

I really wish I had an actual cheese buns time picture to put up, but I guess that’ll be left to fanart and our imaginations.

Hi! First of all saw mocking jay and Oh My God! It was fantastic! Just wow! I have a challenge for you, please tell me your top everlark moments in THG CF and Mockingjay. Also do you think their relationship has changed or did they in essence fall in love again? Also I LOVE your blog!!!!! TYSM!

Okay….this is so meaty. Good thing I love you so much too. :)

Favorite Everlark moments:

The Hunger Games

  • The quote and moment…“It’s not about the sponsors. And it’s not about what will happen back home. And it’s not just that I don’t want to be alone. It’s him. I do not want to lose the boy with the bread.
  • "Moves into me” kiss. (The hunger one)
  • When she’s so distraught that she tears his coat.
  • The bread moment because it’s the foundation to Everlark.
  • Their interview with Caesar after the Games.
  • The 100 kisses they don’t show in the movie but are canon.

Catching Fire

  • Nights on the train
  • Stay with me. Always.
  • Cheese buns time…She hurts her foot. He carries her up and down the stairs every day. Brings her cheese buns every day. They work on the plant book and shoe ogles him.
  • The roof…basically an Everlark date
  • The beach kiss…because, yeah.

  • The quote “The way we’re wrapped around each other.” Yes, please.
  • The morning after the beach kiss and how she’s different.
  • I’ll see you at midnight kiss because it’s bittersweet.

  • Katniss completely needing/wanting Peeta.
  • The pearl and its significance.
  • The “I remember about the bread” conversation that I need to see.
  • The Always dream coming back to her.
  • Their small interactions that hurt.
  • “You’re a painter. You’re a baker.”
  • Stay with me. Always kiss.
  • So after….real. OF COURSE!
  • The epilogue where K&P have toast!babies

I think for sure their relationship has changed, but it’s always been there for both of them. From the moment he threw her the bread to the very end, they’ve always needed and loved each other. It just grew into that. They grew together.

Even as Peeta was hijacked, his love for her trumped all the torture and pain he endured to get back to her. Even as Katniss was at her darkest moment, on trial and alone, wanting to end her life, her love for Peeta kept her going.

I could definitely elaborate, even write a full-fledged essay on this. But I do truly believe that Everlark is a product of two people with a story full of meaning from the very beginning, enduring hardship, complementing one another, completing the other.

So, I was just thinking about all the scenes we didn't get in the movies and had forgotten about the watching the QQ scene. That, along with a better cave acne, cheese buns time, and the rooftop scene really would have put rest to any playing up of a love triangle. I guess I see now why they weren't included. Too bad because it's the combo of all those scenes - along with the beach and resuscitation scenes, that show everlark's first growing together.

I agree!

Catching Fire is overwhelmingly an Everlark book that sets up Katniss’s feelings in Mockingjay. There are so many things that are missing from the movie that, like you said, would sway everyone to ship Everlark. You put it well when you said it was their “growing together” period.

You know I love Everlark and would want everyone to be on that ship. But I understand movie making and why they do what they do with the “love interests.” Do I want people to ship Everblow? Of course not. Like my husband helped me to see, there are always going to be those who don’t ship with me–however illogical it is. :)

My hope is that they portray the relationships well. By that I mean, adding the nuances that are in the book that pertain to that Everblow kiss in D2. Also, portraying Blowhard’s character that’s supposed to be the opposite of Peeta’s in the end. I also want them to show Katniss’s love for and dependence on Peeta in MJ, which I think they will with the Pearl.

I wish they would’ve just filmed those scenes we miss and made us pay an exorbitant amount for them or posted them online as a series

Everlark Webisodes: Growing Together:

  • Webisode 1: The Real Cave Scene
  • Webisode 2: Peeta Tucks Me In
  • Webisode 3: Ogling Peeta’s Eyelashes While I Eat Cheese Buns
  • Webisode 4: Training Roof Spooning
  • Webisode 5: The Roof Date & the Energy Field

It’d be a hit series. :)

Thanks for this Ask.

What are your top 5 favorite Everlark headcanons?

1. That Peeta knew about and loved that Katniss would stare at him while he drew in the family plant book.

2. That they spent a copious amount of time in bed. I feel like so many amazing things happened for them in bed: in the cave, on the train, Cheese Buns Time, and also in their growing back together.

3. That post MJ, they hardly left each other’s side for a long time. They did everything together as a comfort and protection, and eventually grew into a routine that made it so they could be together most of the time.

4. That they had more than two children. I just love the thought of more life for them after the Epilogue that includes children, a mutual desire to build a stronger future for Panem but still respecting their privacy, and a good life with grandchildren and a future together.

5. Sex and bread all the time.

anonymous asked:

When do you really think everlark first had sex? Do you think it was one of those nights on the train or after the rebellion? In rereading the novels, some of the things Katniss says makes me question haha!

Ahhh….the proverbial question:

When did Peeta and Katniss have sex?

This question is right up my alley and I’ve answered it numerous times over the years. So, I hope my answer helps you. :)

I believe Katniss had sex during their growing back together, post-Mockingjay. You’re totally right. So much of the text in THG & particularly CF is so full of juicy goodness that it’s easy to think they had sex. I mean, it is so delightfully hot and sexy. It’s also the main reason I started this blog: to highlight all the wonderful canon.

My reasoning is pretty simple. Katniss feels hunger or sexual desire and attraction, at very specific moments in the books. The first being in the cave:

This is the first kiss that we’re both fully aware. Neither of us hobbled by sickness or pain or simply unconscious. Our lips neither burning with fever or icy cold. This is the first kiss where I actually feel stirring inside my chest. Warm and curious. This is the first kiss that makes me want another.

The second, on the beach:

I feel that thing again. The thing I only felt once before. In the cave last year, when i was trying to get Haymitch to send us food. I kissed Peeta about a thousand times during those Games and after. But there was only one kiss that made me feel something stir deep inside. Only one that made me want more. But my head wound started bleeding and he made me lie down.

The third instance, when they grow back together:

On the night I feel that thing again, the hunger that overtook me on the beach, I know this would have happened anyway. That what I need to survive is not Gale’s fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. that it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that.

So after, when he whispers, “You love me. Real or not real?”

I tell him, “Real.”

Katniss is very specific about when she feels that hunger: the cave, the beach and then the night during their growing back together. I believe that they didn’t have sex until the end of MJ. She specifies those instances because she felt something she never wanted to feel or thought she could feel for another person. So when she does feel that, she explains it so thoroughly.

Are there moments that make us doubt this? Definitely. They both love nights on the train. There are moments in the Training Center that make us wonder. Those were important Everlark moments because they shared an intimacy with one another that they both loved and delighted in, and are honestly the basis for the rest of the relationship they experience. I’ve always called it their courting period: the train, the cheese buns time, the training center, the roof. These were all moments that were exclusively theirs. It wasn’t for the cameras, for Panem or for the Games. It was for them.

Although I don’t believe they had sex until the ending, I do believe they had great physical intimacy. A lot of holding, touching, hugging, snuggling, spooning, hand-holding, looks and smiles. They also had great emotional intimacy. They shared being Victors, a love for their District, moments together getting to know one another. Their lives were completely intertwined. All of this, led to a beautiful relationship that stood up against some serious adversity and one of the main reasons they could grow back together and make a life with each other.

Thanks for your Ask.

If there's one thing I regret from the series its not being able to know/see the look on Gale's face when Peeta's like: "If it weren't for the baby..." I can only imagine.

Yeah, I agree with that.

I think that’s one thing I miss in Catching Fire as well. The glimpses back at what the rest of Panem would be seeing or hearing and their reactions. I understand that there’s a lot going on in the second arena with the Games, the other Victors, Rebellion & the Everlark happening. Plus, the Games and its political and social representation were already established in the first book.

A reaction from Gale watching the interviews though would have been amazing. Would he have thought it to be true? That there was any validity to it?

After the whipping and their conversation about her staying there to cause trouble, we really don’t hear much from Gale after that. Katniss is injured and then it’s cheese buns time, the QQ announcement, the three Victors train and then the Reaping.

He’s not there taking care of her foot, carrying her up and down the stairs or bringing her coal everyday.

Katniss & Gale have a short conversation before the Reaping about where they would be and she replies, “Hunting. Like every Sunday.” In this same conversation, Katniss thinks, “Even if I had killed Peeta in the arena, I still wouldn’t have wanted to marry anyone.”

SC doesn’t give us more about their relationship in the time that she “chose him” other than they hunt together and he helped them train. I think it’s very telling that the eyelash and hands ogling happens after the whipping.

Definitely no spooning happening with Gale or kissing or arms longing….

At the baby confession, I think Gale would be upset and in disbelief. I don’t think he would automatically think it was a deception. I think he would really think about whether or not that was a possibility. There would be this nagging doubt that Katniss & Peeta had sex at some point.

I think he would go away to the Meadow and wonder why he didn’t get to make babies with Katniss.

number 39 everlark please.

Thanks for the prompt! :-) Hope you enjoy! The prompt is: 39. “Hey! I was gonna eat that!”

“Would you stop prowling like that. You’re making me nervous.” Katniss snorts at my words, but really, she could blink abnormally right now and I’d be nervous about it.

“It’s your own fault. Thief,” she accuses and I roll my eyes, slapping the dough on the counter as evidence.

“See this? This is me fixing it.”

“No, Peeta. You fixing it would be you not eating the last cheese bun.”

For some horrible reason when I was reading the trilogy I guess I skipped or did not see the part where cheese buns come in. Can you explain the part with cheese buns?

As you know, this is one of my favorite Everlark moments. When I refer to Cheese Buns Time, I’m basically referring to a specific chunk of the book they cut out of Catching Fire.

Starting with Katniss returning home after hurting herself when trying to find a way over the now electrified fence. She comes home to discover Peacekeepers there to waiting to give her a message, expecting that she doesn’t come back. This leads to Peeta bringing her to bed and her asking him to stay with her. He replies, “always.“

The phrase Cheese Buns Time comes from the next chunk where Katniss is basically stuck at home unable to do anything on her injured foot. Peeta brings her cheese buns EVERYDAY and works on their family plant book with her. She ogles his eyelashes. He states it’s the first time they’d done anything normal.

All of that.

This whole section is what I refer to as Cheese Buns Time. I just love it. I hate, but understand why they cut it out of the movie. It’s just too good and too chocked full of Everlark. The quotes in these few pages:

“I like to watch his hands as he works…”

“I also become a little fixated on his eyelashes,…”

“Each afternoon he carries me downstairs…”

Seriously, this makes me want Peeta Mellark…..ugh & unf.

Can we go back to the fact that Peeta brings her cheese buns EVERYDAY??!!?

Maybe this doesn’t sound like much to you, but the fact that he preps dough to rise, preps the cheese buns and bakes it fresh for Katniss is so insanely sexy.

This time is a sweet time for them and honestly, a huge part of Katniss falling for Peeta. She’s always “noticed” him, but she can’t stop noticing him here.
