checotah

Thank God for hometowns. First kisses and touchdowns. Thank God for the county lines who welcome you back in when you were dying to get out. Thank God for church pews and all the faces that won’t forget you. And when you’re lost out in this crazy world, you got somewhere to go and get found. Thank God for hometowns.

I know I haven’t been posting every day for my Musical Alphabet Challenge (I promise I’ll get to that once my finals are over). …Well then again, I did swear off tumblr until then. But I had to post this song, since I’ve been listening to it and all of The Voice songs on repeat while studying fourier transforms.

The song’s called “I Ain’t in Checotah Anymore” by Carrie Underwood. My newfound appreciation for country music as got me missing California, PA (where I actually lived in a town with one stop light), Jarrettsville, MD (where I actually lived on a farm), and Decatur, GA (which is legit down south). Wow, I’m surprised I never like country music before…

Anyway, this song makes me miss home.

Aww, Carrie was so…  I can’t even put it into words…  sweet, young and just plain naive back then. It’s SO adorable and entrancing. I mean, she’s still lovely now, but she’s older and a lot more experienced. There’s something about that vulnerable quality she’s got that just makes me adore her at this age. I love you, you little farm girl!
