check one off my to do list

anonymous asked:

Alright, that's Dark and Will checked off from the list, now...we need Anti's backstory!...JACK YOU BEST BE PAYING ATTENTION TO THIS!!!

I even made a post saying something along those lines, but honestly, let’s not pressure Jack into doing something he doesn’t want to or can’t do.

WKM took WEEKS and MONTHS to finish. The final product is probably (in my opinion) one of the greatest series on the entire channel, and took SO much time, effort, and more effort by many, many people to complete.

Now, we do have hints that Anti’s backstory is indeed tragic. Many hints, if you look close enough, but Jack keeps a tight lid on his personal views of Anti b/c he enjoys seeing OUR views, theories, and guesses with the character.

To have it all laid out for us in a video may ruin the mystery, and WKM was so brilliant to show the setup and not revealing/ confirming til the last scene that it was an origin story. Expecting Jack to pull off something similar to WKM isn’t fair to him- I’m not saying he CAN’T someday do it, but don’t underestimate the amount of effort it took to plan, shoot, and edit WKM in the first place.

Now do I want more info to be hinted or even shown to us dealing with Anti’s own origins/ backstory? Heck yeah.

But at the same time, I kinda like not knowing, the ambiguity of it is still intriguing- and I enjoy seeing everyone’s theories while there are no canon answers (at least… not yet).

I see prompts are open yay! Please tell me all about Ford finding out about Bitty and Jack.

Ooh, this is interesting, because I don’t feel like it’d be an announcement, but just something Ford finds out when Jack visits or the like. I mean, it could go the other way, like Lardo could be, “heads up, Bitty’s dating our ex-captain” and Ford would be like, “okay? why are you telling me?” (She’s a theatre background, what is a Bad Bob to her?) I think she’d be pretty chill with it, and coming from theatre, like being gay is not an issue, esp in college (and even at the professional level) and esp if we go with the oft reblogged “Ford is gay” headcanon.

But here is a small fic that is only half based on the above…

Ford double checks the dozens of pages Lardo has given her for the upcoming roadie. She thought dealing with dressing room allocation was hard (and it is, one hundred percent) but figuring out room allocations is somehow worse, particularly when she’s new, and hockey players are more superstitious than the girl who played Johanna in Sweeney.

“So, who was it I’m meant to pair Oliver with?” Ford asks, grabbing for the red pen she’d stuck into her bun earlier. She comes out with a green one. It’ll do.

“Wicks. But really, he’d be fine with any of the guys in his year.”

Ford makes a note on one of the pages. “Okay, then I think I’m–Oh, shit.”

“What is it?” Lardo looks up from her sketchbook.

Ford double checks through all her sheets before she says anything. She’s not worrying, because there’s no time for that, she’s just already hating the amount of extra work she’ll need to do to fix things.

“I’ve left Eric, um, Bitty,” Ford corrects herself, still getting used to hockey nicknames, “off the rooming list.”

“Oh, that. Nah, you’re good.” Lardo goes back to her drawing. “He stays with his boyfriend when we’re playing up there.”

“Boyfriend?” Ford double-checks.

“Yeah. He’s in Providence. And he’ll drive Bitty to the games and practices and stuff. Should’ve emailed you that. My bad.”

“That’s fine.” Ford grabs another pen from her hair, forgetting she already has one in front of her. It’s red this time. “Just thought I was going to have to redo an entire afternoon’s worth of work.”

“Right,” Lardo says. “I can see why the minor freak out.”

“Excuse you, I did not freak out.” It’s half a lie. Ford has so many notes on these sheets, but she’s not freaking out, she’s managing. It’s all part of it.

Lardo looks up and smiles at her. “Knew you’d be fine at this.”

Ford takes the compliment with a gracious nod, and goes back to ticking off the rooming list against the team names. All accept Eric.

Things about prayer that I should have learnt a long time ago:

1. God doesn’t need your prayers. The prayers are for you. Why? Because praying five times a day isn’t merely a pointless ritual; it establishes a routine, a sort of rhythm to your life. It is the one part of your to-do list that you get to check off, even if the rest of your work is unfinished.

2. Don’t expect some sort of enlightening experience when you pray after a long time. I think that’s what I found most disheartening about prayer, that I didn’t feel a ray of light enter my heart, that I didn’t feel cleansed when I prayed after a long time. Prayer does feel nice, but the “cleansing” the “enlightening” comes after a while and it comes from within. It comes with the stuff you do along with prayer. It comes from the effort you put in to becoming a good person and into becoming conscious of God.

3. Beating yourself up about missing prayer disheartens you more. Beating yourself up in general is disheartening. Take it easy on yourself.

4. You’ll never expect it, but one day you’ll be crying in sujood and it isn’t because you’re weak it’s because you’re taking a step towards being stronger. Don’t be afraid to cry in prayer. It’s nice to feel yourself humbled towards God. You don’t have to cry in front of anyone else, but you can sob your heart out in front of God and that’s perfectly okay.

5. That discomfort you feel about having missed a prayer, is something that you should address. Don’t brush it off. If you brush it off once, you’ll do it again. Go pray. It really is good for you.

Kiss Kiss: A Prompt Collection

So, many of us know that kisses are a nightmare to write. I get a lot of requests for them - have some prompts for hopefully your inspiration and writing delight.

1) Her heart raced as he pressed her against the wall, wrists pinned above her head in an instant. They grinned at each other. “Still not swooning,” she dared. “But by all means if you want to concede that you’re just not that-”

The kiss came feather-light. A brush of lips. Entirely not the crushing, heated, frantic thing she’d expected. And, maybe, just maybe, her knees turned to jelly a bit.

2) “Don’t you know,” the siren said. “It’s dangerous to kiss someone like me. A siren’s kiss can steal a girl’s heart,”
“We should be fine then,” the girl replied. She leaned in, kissed eager and claiming as if she was the one renowned for dragging lovers into the deep. “Because I think you stole mine already a long time ago.”

3) You didn’t kiss my mouth first. You kissed my fingertips, each one separately, and then the palm of my hand, my wrist, my shoulder and throat. The top of my head, my jaw, my cheek. Finally, you paused right in front of me, and my breath quickened, warm and sugar-spun against your lips.
“May I?” you asked.
“I think I might throttle you if you don’t,” I whispered back.
Unlike the other, fluttering, kisses this one was all heat.

4) I kissed you because I didn’t love you. Everyone always says that a first kiss should be about love, should be special, but it always felt like something I had to check off the list. Why would you want to give your first, clumsy kisses to someone you loved? No, you should learn how to do it before you meet the one you want to give a perfect kiss to.

Somewhere between the first kiss and the thousandth, I fell in love with you.
You kissed me because you didn’t love me.

5) He kissed him in darkness, where the world pared down to the heat of contact, the slide of a hand along his ribs, the words murmured just for the two of them. He memorized every inch of him blind, scared that in the light the force of want and adoration would simply be too strong. In darkness, it would only ever be them and that was more than enough.

6) He kissed him in sunshine, in moonlight, in the flicker of candles where he could drink up the sight of him. Mouth kiss red, pupils blown, hair mussed by his fingers until he could have been Michelangelo’s David, sculptured lovingly with lips and careful touch. Then he kissed him again - just because he was beautiful.

7) “Can I kiss you?”
They hovered by the edge of the garden, away from the spill of light from the porch. It felt just like the movies, like the moment when these things always happened. Except, it wasn’t her first kiss. Wasn’t even her second, or her hundredth. Might have been the first time someone asked though, all nervous and eager, rather than leaning in because this was just like the movies so why bother asking when the script had already been written?
But he asked. She managed a breathless nod and felt something in her chest ease.

8) “My god, you’re so tense,” she said. You desperately need to get laid.”
“Are you offering?” the girl replied.
She blinked, startled, laughed.
The first kiss came like honey, trickling warm through her bones until she melted on the sofa in hazy bliss.

Even More Things To Add To Your Bullet Journal

Hello, my journalers! I am making another long list of bullet journal ideas. If you’d like to see my first list, click [here]. I had 30 ideas on that list, so be sure to check that one out!

1. Books To Read

There are so many cute ways to create this section.

2. All About Me Pages

These are some of my favorite pages to make. They can be simple and to the point, or colorful and complex. You do you and show off that you! Here’s a [link] to the post I made about my pages.

3. Future Log

Having a yearly spread of what you are planning, need to plan, or just simply feel organized will help you feel less stressed about the coming year. I’ve seen a few ways how to set up a future log, but I chose the one that works best for my life. Mine has gotten a bit messy and only has the rest of 2016.

4. Movies to Watch

There are so many good movies coming out soon, and so many movies I just haven’t gotten around to see. If you’re like me and love coloring in blocks to show progress, then I suggest to set up the page sort of like mine. (But you can also do it any number of ways as well.) Here’s a [link] to my post about creating a movie/tv tracker)

5. Skills to Learn

I imagine a simple checklist can work. If you like to be more detailed oriented, you can make it more like a progress log.

6. Important Phone Numbers/Addresses

Much like an address book, you can make pages in your bullet journal for the same function. Most people put numbers and addresses into their phones, but sometimes it’s just nice to have them written down someplace else.

7. Year In Pixels

If you’d like to see an explanation of this page idea, click this [link].

8. Fonts, Banners, and Frame Ideas

I think it’s convenient to have a few pages that act as a cheat sheet for your designing needs.

9. Snail Mail Log

This is something that I am totally going to do soon, and possibly even include you all in on it. I want to start a mailing list for sending letters to more people. I love getting mail from family and friends, but it doesn’t happen often enough!

10. Savings Tracker

This is such a lovely idea to keep in your journal. Be sure to stay on top of your finances! I like to keep an extra page for things I need to pay off or people to pay back.

11. Favorite Lists

This could also go in your “All About Me” section, but I decided it should be separate for me. You can list things like your favorite restaurants, meals, songs, classes, sounds, tastes, places, shoes, animals, colors, instruments, plays, games, etc. Get to know yourself better.

12. TV Series Tracker

This is for those people who want to feel like they just want physical proof of how many times they’ve watched that series on Netflix. Here’s a [link] to my post about making your own.

13. Monthly Challenges

These are so much fun to make for you all. If you want to add a challenge to your journal, click [here] for my master list of challenges.

14. Music Playlists

You can make playlists on your phone with various apps, but there’s something sweet about writing out your favorite songs. You can create a workout, relaxing, studying, writing, etc. playlists.

15. Timeline of Your Life

Use two pages for this one because it will be filled by the time you are done. You can even use this for what you want to do in the future.

16. Inspiration Page

Quotes, songs, people, pictures, charts, graphs, jokes, scripture, events, love, etc. WRITE THEM DOWN, BE INSPIRED, AND GO DO.

17. Self Care List/Ideas

Sometimes we don’t know how to make ourselves feel better. Write a list of things you could try to do to help yourself become a healthier you. Examples: take a warm bath, go for a walk, drink a glass of water, watch a sad movie, etc.

18. Monthly/Yearly Memories

It’s nice to have a page with all the memories you had that month/year. I tend to put a little doodle with each event/milestone in my life just to make it more memorable. (This was from my first journal. Please don’t judge.)

19. Sleep Tracker

I personally don’t use a sleep tracker because my sleeping habits are the worst and logging them might be upsetting to me. However, you can track the time you go to bed and what time you get up in the morning on a chart that is easy to read and compare with other nights.

20. Me Time Log

Sometimes we all need a little time to ourselves. You can use this with the “Self Care List/Ideas” pages to log specific activities you do with yourself. You can keep track of the activity, when you do to, and how long your me time was.

21. Tiny Adventures

Not exactly real adventures, but adventurous enough to get you out of your comfort zone. To see the original post about these adventures, click [here].

22. Word Tracker

For those authors and poets, keeping a goal sheet or tracker of your words helps a ton!

5 Ways to Make Your Life More Organized

1. Organize your email. As students, we are constantly being sent emails from classes, work, professors, announcements, etc. The possibilities are endless. It can be so annoying to have to trudge through millions of emails just to find the one you need, so if you organize your email into folders, it makes it much less of a chore.

2. Keep your classes separate.  Different colored folders and spirals are a must. Also, I like to keep my classes organized into different compartments of a plastic drawer set. You can even just get a simple desktop divider, but make sure you have a set place for all your different classes. Nothing is worse than showing up to class with the wrong day’s schoolwork in your backpack.

3. Make To-Do Lists. I for one will never accomplish something unless I write it down. For whatever reason, seeing something listed with a blank box next to it just gives me that much more motivation to get it done knowing I can check it off at the end of the task. Tip: Use colored pens and pencils to differentiate tasks (i.e. blue for school, green for work, pink for appointments, etc.)

4. Clean/do laundry once a week. Every Sunday (or whatever day works for you) clean up your room and do your laundry. Nothing is worse than having to do multiple loads of laundry in one day because you’ve let it pile up for so long. Also, cleaning up in intervals makes your life less stressful and chores way easier! I’d take 20 minutes once a week over 3 hours once a month any day.

5. Organize your files. Digital clutter is the absolute worst. Just take a minute out of your day to sort through all those pictures on your phone, deleting the ones that are duplicates or blurry or just plain useless. Do this on your desktop as well. Make folders for your documents, organize photos by dates and times, and create a reasonable system that you will be able to keep up with.

Looking At You (Post CACW Winteriron)(Part One)

Welcome to the story! I am honestly so excited to share this one with you. Winteriron is my FAVORITE, and even though this story will be sad and hard to read in some spots, I hope you all love it like I do.

Prologue
***************
“Hey, Tony can I–”

“Jesus.” The plate Tony was holding shattered across the kitchen floor when it slipped through his fingers. “Jesus, Steve sorry about that. Sorry.”

“I didn’t mean to startle you.” Steve said with a frown, and Tony just shook his head.

“It’s fine. Just lost a little in my head is all.” He bent down to start cleaning up the mess.

“Let me hel–”

“I got it.” Tony waved him away. “What can I do for you, Captain?”

“Well, I was thinking maybe you could take a look at Bucky’s arm? It’s been freezing up or not flexing or something and it’s hurting him quite a bit. I told him you’d be happy to help him with it.”

Happy to help–” Tony cleared his throat. “That’s fine. But I’m busy, so send him to Banner. He’s got access to everything in the lab anyway.”

“I was hoping you would–”

“I’m busy, Steve.” Tony wiped his hands on his pants and raised his eyebrows. “Banner is smarter than me anyway, he will find a fix faster than I can. Sorry, I just can’t right now. Sorry.”

“Uh, okay. I’ll just take him to Banner then.” Steve sent him an odd look, but turned and left anyway, and Tony sank down into a chair, sitting on his hands so it wasn’t quite as obvious they were shaking.
*******************
“Sorry, Clint, uh, you guys, I didn’t realize you were in here.” Tony did an abrupt about face and headed right back out of the room, and Clint raised his eyebrows.

“Tony. It’s not a problem.”

“I don’t want to intrude.” Tony held up his hands peacefully and Natasha narrowed her eyes at him.

“Since when do you care if you are intruding, just come in and sit down. It’s called a common area, Stark.”

“Lay off.” Sam sent her a sharp glance. “You don’t have to say everything like it’s an insult.”

“Excuse me?” Natasha’s voice rose the slightest bit and Tony coughed loudly.

“Hey, it’s all fine. Let’s not fight okay? No worries, no harm no foul. I know she doesn’t mean anything by it, it’s fine. All I needed was my tablet, it’s just there on the end table, I’ll just grab it.”

“Here, Tony.” Sam tossed it to him and Tony caught it, but just barely, bringing it down to his side before anyone noticed the slip.

“Ok. Ok thanks guys. See ya. Sorry again.” He turned and left, trying to slow his breathing down a little.

He hated when they fought.

#LastYoungRenegade - out July 2nd, 2017

Who is the Last Young Renegade?

After all this time writing music, playing in a band- checking moment after moment off the bucket list- collecting mistakes, making memories, I wondered what it might be like to write about myself if I wasn’t the one standing in my shoes. Who am I from the other side of the mirror?

I tried to change perspective in my approach to writing and center in on all of the different versions of me that other people might have met over the years, through the ups and the downs, in the public eye and behind closed doors. Would I like this person? Do I like this person? Do I even recognize this person anymore?

I realized that there’s a lot more to me than I’m usually ready to acknowledge, both good and bad. In that realization, I noticed a common thread. We are who we are, even when we try our hardest not to be.

It’s a challenge to accept it sometimes. I gave those other sides of me a persona, and a name– then came the stories like a flood. It was a way for me to confront demons without having to sit at the dinner table with them.

That’s the journey on this record: a story of self-realization. Of growing into your own skin through the eyes of someone watching it all unfold on the big screen, wearing a ‘Frankie Says Relax’ t-shirt. Like watching an old familiar movie, but suddenly you’re Marty McFly.

We tried a lot of new things on this album, all within the context of what we love so much about All Time Low– There’s no denying that we were binge watching Stranger Things at the time, while also reflecting on the loss of some of our favorite musicians; Prince, Bowie, George Michael… I think the influence comes through in the best ways. We all felt pulled to exciting and different places as we searched for inspiration, approaching something that’s become so familiar to us from a new direction.

I truly hope everyone listening enjoys this record as much as I do. It’s been an amazing journey. The album comes out June 2nd and will be available for pre-order on Friday, Feb 24th. We’ll also be posting some pre-order merch bundles, so stay tuned! Pre-order options will be up on alltimelow.com.

a mini masterpost (if you will) to thank you for 150 followers!! [edit: at the time of posting i have 191 followers omg!!] y’all are the sweetest :) also, thank you for the request @glitteratti !!

01. handwriting (at least for me) makes or breaks a spread

i’ve always found that if my handwriting looks nice and neat, i like the spread so much better regardless of whether it matches/has a theme/whatever. i would say take the most amount of time on your handwriting and maybe you’ll feel more proud of the spread?? idk that’s what works for me lol!

02. don’t worry about making sure you have a theme

ok real talk my bujo spreads literally never have a theme everything is always a riot of color and i just paste/tape/glue/write whatever i feel like into the margins on the sides. i think there seems to be pressure to make sure your spread is super color coded with perfect brush lettering and washi tape that perfectly matches your ink color and tbh those are nice and if that’s ya thing great!! but to me they’ve always seemed unattainable and i never strive for that

03. fill it with what you like!! do what you’re feelin’

it’s your bullet journal. no one else can or should tell you how to create it as it is a representation of yourself (and i’m not trying to do that in this post i’m just offering what works for me!! what works for another studyblr will be completely different). example: i’ve been really into star trek the past few weeks and consequently, my spreads have been full of star trek lmao because right now it’s making me happy!! plus i’ll love to look back one day and remember this feeling and to me my bullet journal is like a low maintenance diary bc u can literally do anything you want with it

04. don’t be afraid to break your own traditions

i remember thinking at the beginning of my bujo journey that everything had to be perfect and each month i had to create my habit tracker exactly the same and doing one thing differently would stress me out and like,, no! my main advice is do whatever you’re feeling and don’t compare it to others in the community (and i know people have some amazing bullet journals so it’s hard not to compare) but in the end what’s right for them may not be right for u!!

05. update it every night before you go to bed!!

because the request was about remembering to keep it up! tbh i don’t do this as often as i should but one of my daily habit tracker things is “prepared for the next day” and i only check this off if, at the end of the day, my bujo is updated and ready, my lunch is made, my clothes are laid out, and i’m prepared for the day ahead of me and the only reason i ever am prepared is because i’m so vain that i want to fill in all the little circles and cross every item on my list and tbh trying to keep everything organized and neat and that satisfaction of being able to cross something off my to do list is the only reason my bujo functions for me lmao (if anyone is interested my other habit tracker categories are productive (which i only check off if i finished all my to dos), play with my dogs, and duolingo!)

06. when designing your spreads, don’t have a reference image open!

imo this messes with my creativity. if i try to copy someone else’s spread i get frustrated and i always feel like it looks really bad compared to theirs (which is a bad mentality anyway bc u should never compare your work, least of all your creative expression, to another’s like this). however, to clarify, i think taking inspiration from people is a great thing!! i love to look at other people’s bujos and try to incorporate things they’ve done but i don’t think it’s respectful or helpful to copy someone’s style exactly. (also if anyone is interested i could make a lil post about people with great bullet journals?? or maybe i could do bullet journal compliments???? does anyone want this lol i’m just typing as i’m thinking but lmk if i should do bujo compliments!!) also @studyrose ‘s bullet journal is probably my favorite hers are always beautiful and i get a lot of my ideas from her so u should check it out :)

07. maybe make an aesthetics tag?

i have a tag #aesthetic (feel free to check it out!!) of images i reblog (mostly art and photography) that i can look back thru and print out to glue into my bullet journal! it’s super helpful when i don’t have any magazines to clip. i also have an #art tag on my fandom sideblogs (i’m such a nerd i can’t believe i have more than one lamoamo) and i frequently print fanart from them as well!! (just make sure to credit the artist if u post a pic involving their art i used to not do this but then i realized how disrespectful it is so i make sure to tag the artist now lol)

08. it’s okay to take a break from bullet journaling, especially if it’s becoming more of a hindrance than a help. it’s meant to help you organize your life and if it becomes more of a hassle than it’s worth, just take a break. reset. come back for the next monthly spread better than ever.

i have done this many times in the past and you don’t owe an explanation to anyone. it’s meant for you.

hope y’all enjoyed this!! again, lmk (shoot me an ask/message me/talk to me!!) if anyone would be interested in bujo compliments :) thank u for being amazing if you’re reading this i love u!!

xoxo sarah

studying 101: how to stay focused, motivated, and on track.

lots of you have been messaging me asking for study tips and methods i personally use, so here is a masterpost for studying that i’ve created for all of you! feel free to reblog and add your own advice, but just remember to keep in mind that learning is a very individualized process and what may work for me may not work for you. that being said…here we go!

staying focused

- an app called self control (which i think is only available for mac) is perfect for people who use their laptops to do work but always find themselves aimlessly browsing buzzfeed, facebook, and twitter instead. it blocks websites for you for a specified amount of time so you can’t access them! what i like to do is set it for anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, do some intense studying, and then reward myself with a 15 minute break. then i set the timer again.

- sometimes when i try to sit and study for long periods of time, i start to get antsy and starting fiddling with my pens or shifting in my seat a little too much. what i do to combat this is get out of my seat and do a very quick mini work out to calm my nerves and get the restless feeling out of my system. this also helps if i start to feel drowsy or tired because it helps get oxygen to your brain and gets blood flowing! i like to do to 10 jumping jacks, 10 sit ups, 10 pushups, and 10 squats.

- switch up your studying methods occasionally. there’s nothing more boring than copying notes everyday or reading chapter after chapter of the same textbook. quiz yourself with flashcards, create a diagram or chart instead of plain notes, annotate your textbook as your read with different pens… varying your methods of study will not only help you grasp the material better (since you’re learning it in many different ways), but it’ll keep you from getting bored.

- turn off your cell phone. i’m sorry. but seriously. turn it off. put it away. and none of that “i’ll just put it on silent” bullshit. turning it off is way better because then you get too impatient/lazy to turn it on and use it again.

- try not to devote more than 5-6 hours of studying per day. after that long, your brain becomes over-tired and stops processing information as well. there’s no point in forcing yourself to sit any longer. i myself usually study for 3-4 hours a day, and if i need to do more than that, i’ll do one session in the morning/afternoon and one in the evening.

staying motivated

- keep a picture of nicki minaj giving one of her “stay in school” speeches on your desk/as your laptop background (when you’re using it to do work). seriously. and if you’re not a fan of nicki then bye.

- this is so preschool, but when me and my roomie lived in the dorms our first year (of college), we would put up tests that we got an A on on our mini fridge. seeing them displayed there made us want to study more for exams and tests because we got so excited to pin shit up on the fridge. try it. it’s surprisingly rewarding.

- there’s an extension for the google chrome browser called momentum that displays as your home page your main goal for the day and a to-do list. i’ve found this is really helpful because whenever i start up my computer in the morning, i’m shown what i need to do for the day (along with a pretty nature picture - you’ll see what i mean when you install it) and can check things off as i go.

- while you eat breakfast, make a to-do list for the day and include one thing you’ve already done (e.g. cook & eat breakfast). that way, you already get to check something off and it’s easier to keep going for the rest of the things you have to do.

staying on track

- keep a planner/agenda. i personally like having a physical agenda, but i know some people who prefer their phones for convenience. i look for agendas with a monthly calendar followed by a week on two pages. what i like to do is take my syllabi i’m given on the first day of class and write down all of the major assignments or tests in my planner and highlight them so they’re easily seen. i write down the readings week by week since those are subject to change, whereas major tests/papers usually do not.

- speaking of syllabi, keep them where they’re easily seen. for example, tape them above your study desk so you have easy access to assignment and reading due dates as well as contact information and office hours for your professors.

- some classes are modeled such that the current week’s lesson build upon what you learned in the previous week. it’s very easy to fall behind in such classes, so what i like to do is go over the notes i took in lecture and rewrite them in more explicit terms. if there’s something in my notes i can’t explain to myself, i’ll flag it and take it to my professor’s office hours (or simply email them, if the question is simple enough) so i’m not clueless come the next lesson.

- #SundayGetShitDoneDay. yep. it’s totes a thing. use your sundays to try and get ahead with the reading assignments. i’ve found that reading assignments (as opposed to online assignments or papers) are the first things to get ignored once the workload increases. try and combat this by doing them ahead of time on the weekend.

that’s everything i can think of off the top of my head! feel free to message me with other/specific questions you may have and i’ll try my best to help you out. i hope you found this guide useful! happy studying! :)

Tackling Piles of Readings

Beautiful Instagram-worthy study pictures and colorful pen sets aside, tackling piles of course reading is something that very few individuals look forward to. Before I go ahead and tackle my homework for tomorrow, I thought I’d share with you all a brief set of tips as to how I get it done.

  1. Sit in a place that’s cozy, but not too cozy. For me, that place is my dorm bed. I live between three different places and my bed at my parents’ home (which is only 30 minutes away from my university) is definitely not the place for me to be studying. For some reason, however, I can study perfectly fine on the bed in my dorm room. This isn’t the case for everyone. Lots of people advise against studying in your own bed. For me, I think it’s honestly just a personal preference. What I do make sure to do, however, is to not read under heavy blankets. Instead, I’ll do my reading while I am wrapped up in a thin blanket and am sitting up against my pillows.
  2. Make sure everything you need is nearby. For me, everything includes a light snack and refreshing or soothing drink (today I’ve chosen bubble tea). Other items that may be useful while reading include pens and highlighters for annotating and a notebook/computer to take notes in.
  3. Illuminate the room with light. Try to read in a place full of light. That way the darkness doesn’t trick your brain into falling asleep.
  4. Have a notepad at hand. Write any random, distracting thoughts unrelated to your reading in this notepad. That way, instead of getting side tracked by sudden thoughts, you have them all written down in one place.
  5. Music? No Music? Up to you. Just make sure that the music is instrumental only. Music with words might throw you off as you read. Keep it on low, if possible. I like to listen to tracks that repeat themselves constantly. That way I don’t get distracted by new chords. Here’s a particular favorite track of mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX8QVBl-ZG0&t=205s
  6. Keep a dictionary at ready. Look up words you don’t understand as you go. Jot down notes into your reading. The more confused you are, the less you’ll gain from whatever you are reading. This is why clarifying terms is important.
  7. Take breaks every so often. The human brain is like a sponge, but even sponges have limits to the amount of liquid they can hold. Similarly, your brain has a limit to the amount of concentration it can sustain in one sitting. Take a break when you start feeling brain dead. But time yourself. Make sure your break stays limited. And don’t check social media in this break (unless absolutely necessary). What I like to do is actually get something done off my to do list (like sending an email or filling out a form). That way, I feel better and more accomplished after I’ve taken my break. If I’m feeling too lazy to do that, I usually just jam out to non-instrumental music for a bit or watch a cooking video. The type of video you watch is important because you don’t want to go down that familiar rabbit hole of distraction. That rabbit hole, for me, is comprised of study bloggers, beauty vloggers, etc. Cooking videos just happen to not be rabbit hole videos for me. Find yours.
  8. Don’t get down on yourself. Don’t get down on yourself if you’re having trouble reading or if you don’t find your reading interesting. Not everything in the world was written to be a thrilling piece of literature or an excitingly well-written research paper. Some pieces of work are just boring – and that’s okay. What’s important is that you finish the reading so that you understand tomorrow’s lecture or get a better understanding of a concept being discussed in class. You won’t always have fun studying. Studying is hard work and hard work is just that: hard. Just keep on at it. In the end, you’ll be glad you did. So will your GPA.

Those are my eight tips for tackling reading! Happy Studying!

With love, hugs, and good wishes,

Huda

I looked around the gate, my eyes scanning over every person. I closed my eyes and rested my head against the chair, waiting for the flight attendant to board my plane.

I was on my way back from Japan, where I went to visit what I had thought was my boyfriend. Only to walk in on him and another girl which then proceeded to cancel any and all plans I had for this trip and buy the first ticket back home. What a prick. I grew angry just thinking about him, and secretly thanked the flight attendant when she pulled me out of my thoughts.

Some things I’ve learned since the start of school:

  • There is no better cure for an awful day than sleep. Just do yourself a favor and get a good night’s sleep. I promise it’ll seem easier in the morning.
  • You’ll make yourself a lot of promises in the morning, make sure you keep the important ones.
  • Set specific and reasonable goals for yourself. Make sure you put things on your to do list that can and will get checked off. S
  • top overthinking so much. Don’t stress about what you have to get done after school in school. Don’t worry about getting everything done in one day.
  • There’s some incredible people around you in the same boat, pay attention to them, listen to them, laugh with them. I promise friends make it easier.
  • You can dress like a million bucks but if you don’t feel comfortable in it, if you don’t like it, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.
Bullet Journal in a Lined Journal

Many of you have asked me how a lined journal can work for bullet journaling. Well, turns out it works fabulously. I found this cute journal at HomeGoods for $4.00 and I had to get it. (It’s a problem really.) I decided to use it to show you all how to use a lined journal as opposed to graph-grid, dot-grid, or blank pages.

Like most journals, I began with an index. I embellished this page with washi tape and you will see that I’ve done that with every page in this journal. That blue smudge is actually blue highlighter that leaked through from the other side.

This is my future log, again with washi embellishments. I split up the year into six months on each page. The spacing was difficult on this, but the lines helped to keep the dates straight.

Normally, I’d put my icons on the page after my index, but I didn’t. There’s no turning back when you plan in pen. I also have my mood pixel page here. It’s good that I’ve only had four majorly depressing days this year. Improvement!

I also have a bucketlist and a wishlist. As you can see, I’m not an exciting person.

My “happy finds” are just things that make me smile or laugh. I thought it would be nice to have my favorite quotes next to the things that make me happy. Although, looking at it, I might run out of room on my quotes page.

I’m not showing my birthday list, story ideas, or brain dump. The birthday list page isn’t done yet, so I’d rather just make a separate post for that one. I’m not showing my story ideas because I’m always afraid of people stealing my ideas. Especially in the world we live in today. My brain dump page is just for little questions and wonders I have through the day. Not very exciting, and a bit embarrassing.

Moving on!

My To-Do List actually has things checked off! It’s like journaling has helped or something  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This isn’t in my index, so bonus for you all! This is my March calendar that I actually cut from my planner that I used in a different tutorial, which you can find [here]. I have a small habit tracker in the notes section.

For my daily entries, I’ve been trying to go simple. I work too much to make fancy layouts now. This actually helps me find what I did on each day a lot faster.

My goal is to use this journal all the way through. As someone who has an issue with sticking to one journal, this might be difficult. Let me know if you have any questions or responses to my journal!

Things I Have Been Reading ...(Feb)

This really has been a labour of love because I have tried to post it twice only to have my laptop crash and have to start again!!!

As I have been off work for the past few weeks I have had the pleasure of reading a butt load of fic (I believe that is the technical term).  I have also had some AMAZING recommendations sent over to me and please do keep them coming, feel free to tag me or send a link or send it to me by telepathy (although maybe not the last one because my telepathy skills are a little off atm).  It was quite tricky to narrow down this months list but here are some of my favourite things that I have been reading in February 2017.

P.S. If you make your way through all this and still want something to read then check out @lucifersagents who has been writing the most amazing drabbles and I love each and every one of them!

Supernatural:

A huge thank you for all the SPN recs I’ve got this month! I have found some amazing writers who I hadn’t come across before so please keep them coming or there is a good chance this list will just be Gabe filth.

Pull them Harder@wayward-mirage gifts us all with this amazing Gabriel filth.  As a Gabe girl I have to say this fic gave me several ideas which I will probably never actually get round to writing.

Bringing Tidings Of Joy@bkwrm523 has written this fantastic little series and I urge all Gabe girls to pay special attention to part 2 before going having a cold shower.

While You Were Gone @luci-in-trenchcoats has killed me this this fic.  I haven’t got the words to describe how amazingly sweet and adorable this is a fantastic insight into Dean that warmed my heart.

You - @eyes-of-a-disney-princess is a writer who has recently come to my attention and from what I have read so far I expect great things.  This bit of Dean smut is fantastic and please feel free to make your way through her masterlist!

Off Limits –   @dancingalone21  I cannot begin to tell you how much I adore this fic, it is super cute and the relationship between Sam and Dean is brilliant.

Winchesters Don’t Giggle –  @rizlowwritessortof I read this a while back and it made me smile like an idiot.  I do love the softer side of Dean.

Research –  @nichelle-my-belle Here is another writer I have only just found but after making my way through her masterlist is definitely on my favourites list! This Sam smut is amazing and you should go follow her and read all the stuff!

Unexpected@percywinchester27 After reading this I want to have Sams babies. Lovely and fluffy and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

Marvel:

So as you can see this list is quite Steve/Bucky heavy so if you come across ANY other marvel fics that you think I should read PLEASE let me know. I love Steve and Buck but I’m a sucker for the underappreciated characters.

Not Over You@amarvelouswritings This series is killing me a little but in a totally good way.

Try Again@promarvelfangirl A fine example of the breaking up and getting back together genre beautifully written and I may have had a stupid grin on my face quite a bit when reading this one.

Dirty Minded Cap – Steve - @fvckingsteverogers As a Steve/Chris girl I have no idea how I have not found this blog sooner but here is another masterlist I will be pouring over.  This Steve smut made me all tingly in my lady parts and I think I’ve found another favourite blog!

Homesick @thorne93 I have been reading this series from the very first part and as always my girl here has schooled me in the art of writing.  The fabulousness of series like this is why I don’t really write series because the bar is set really high x

What This Was@amarvelouswritings  THIS SERIES IS AWESOME AND I CAN’T WAIT FOR MORE AND I WANT TO BE ON HER FOREVER TAG LIST BECAUSE EVERYTHING I HAVE READ OF HERS IS AMAZING!  Sorry, fangirling a little there but in all seriousness, you should go follow her.

Screwed - @just-call-me-mrs-captain  It is entirely possible that I binge read this entire series and squealed several times.  Bucky is so brilliantly written here, go read it now!

Hallelujah –  @bovaria brings you a bit of Bucky angst for you all.  You may want to get a box of tissues handy before you start this one, you have been warned.

I think she likes you@emilyevanston I am feeling the whole coffeeshop AU thing right now and as someone who adores nerdy Nat this fic is super sweet.  The interactions between Bucky and Clint are brilliant and I pretty much had a grin on my face all the way through reading this one.

Exs and Ohs –  @civilwarkilledme I feel there should be more T’Challa, especially if this is what is created!

Star Trek:

I’m a little light on Trek fics (possibly because I’ve been drowning in the Steve/Bucky trash) so send me your recs and hopefully they will make my list!!!

Carnival Fun@atari-writes creates a lovely version of the gorgeous doctor in this fic and I absolutely loved it.

Stop Apologizing@kaitymccoy123 a super sweet bit of Bones here.  It’s all fluffy and awkward and really cute.

More Than You Know and The One by @imamotherfuckingstar-lord are two amazing bits of the lovely Captain. A beautiful little fic and an wonderful series that are well worth a read but then again she is one of my favourite writers and I would put everything she writes on this list if I thought I could get away with it.

Other Fandoms and Fics:

Love and Spiders@little-red-83.  So I fully admit I’m a Fili girl and this adorable little fic crossed my path a while back and I thought it was super cute and super sweet and as someone who is terrified of spiders this would be something I would do. Plus @little-red-83 is my tumblr twin so go check out her work.

Sleepy –  @chrisevans-imagines I am a total sucker for a daddy Chris Evans fic right now and this one is super cute.

Treat You Better  - @dont-hate-relate-pls has written this beautiful almost heartbreaking little fic about the lovely Rob Benedict and she writes him so well I can hear his voice in my head as I read it.

Let Me Show You @wayward-mirage is a writing genius who I adore and her Mark Pelligrino fics like this one are absolutely sublime.  Go follow her and show her a little love.

Donnie x Reader - @totally-turtle-imagines this is a really sweet little imagine about how super cute, fluffy and awkward Donnie can be.

Sharpie Promises @another-tmnt-writer.  This Soulmate AU is adorable and the unsure, insecure side of Raph just makes me want to give him a hug.  I am really enjoying seeing what this fandom and this blog has to offer. Also check out Hold Me for an extra slice of @another-tmnt-writer’s Raph.
