Remember when Ngozi said she wasn’t going to draw an update where Bitty and Jack actually have dinner at Marty’s? But wrote out what would happen in each panel? Me too.
And I may or may not already have sketches for all 9 panels…..
Question! Why does this look like the comic but just a bit off??? Well there are a few reasons! The biggest reason being that I’m an 18 year old currently applying for bachelors degrees at various art schools rather than having a MFA and a successful career as a comic artist. Another reason is that I’m using photoshop’s default brushes which are great! But not the ones Ngozi uses. I’m actually planning on getting the same brushes once I get my new laptop so we might see a difference as I continue working on these.
I’d also like to disclaim that this is not completely original, I’m heavily relying on the comic as reference and actually colour picking from screen caps of certain panels in order to keep this as close to the original comic as possible.
I recently found out that @thelaurenshippen creator of my favourite podcast ever (@thebrightsessions) also has a series of videos on youtube in which she describes fandoms as someone who isn’t in that fandom on tumblr. This is her scarily accurate overview of check please. (I have to say, I’m impressed she got holster’s nickname right, when i wasn’t in the fandom but would occasionally see the extras on my dash, I thought his name was hollister)
Because fair is fair in magical healthy poly pb&j AU land. And Look. In this universe in the inevitable future where the Aces and the Falconers play each other for the Stanley Cup, regardless of who wins, everybody wins. Because either way Bitty gets to figure out some sort of creative food for everyone to eat out of it.
(I drew this because I had a fierce need for playoff beards and hockey gear and flow!Jack and stuff.)
I colored cherryandsisters’ art ( which is absolutely amazing) from @pjocoloringbookproject ! ya’ll should 100% check it out, it’s an awesome project created by the fandom, so much love was put into it!!
Jack wants to walk past Faber. Taking the long way back to the #HausSweetHaus.
They’re rounding Faber on the way home from the library. It’s 3 a.m. and the town of Samwell has a muted almost-hush about it. It’s never totally silent, even in the wee hours – these are the perils of being a college town – but right now, at least, a relative quiet has fallen over the grassy expanses and clustered buildings, a sort of intermission between the last drunken partygoer and the first early-rising athlete. It’s gentle somehow. The whole world is padded corners and soft curves.
Gentle, too, is Jack’s presence next to Bitty. As they pass by the wide windows and stone walls of Faber, Jack’s gaze lingers, as though he’s witnessing memories projected onto the surfaces. Bitty sees the light in his eyes, and something wobbles inside his heart that he’s afraid to name. He’s been… emotional, lately, thinking about Jack. Jack, who’s taking strides toward his future every day. Jack, who Bitty feels he’s just getting to know. It’s taken them long enough, but this … this is a real friendship they’re building, with late-night study sessions and sidelong grins. It gladdens Bitty’s heart in a way he’s not sure he understands. And makes him sad, because whatever it is, it’ll be gone within a year.
