Makeup and Skincare Tips I've learned over the past few years
-If you’re going to splurge, splurge on a foundation that won’t break you out and clog your pores, but I will say there are some good drugstore brands that won’t break you out, they’re just harder to find.
-Urban Decay’s eyeshadows and primer are hyped for a reason
-NYX also has good eyeshadows and concealer
-NYX usually will have dupes or at least something similar to high-end products.
-A Beauty Blender/Sponge soaks up more foundation than you’re putting on your face. You will go through so much foundation, it’s so hard to clean, and it’s a bacteria breeding ground. Just don’t do it. Use a stippling brush instead.
-Everybody has a different way of doing winged eyeliner. There are multiple correct ways to put it on.
-Maybelline has a big selection of great mascaras.
-Take your makeup off at night, your pillowcases will thank you.
-Sometimes high-end makeup is worth it. Sometimes.
-Actually clean your makeup brushes more than once every three months.
-After you take off your makeup whether it’s with a wipe or coconut oil it doesn’t matter, clean your face with Micellar water (Simple has a great one that’s fairly cheap) then moisturize.
-Experiment with your skincare routine. I actually don’t wash my face. Above is how I clean my face at night. But that’s it. There was a period of about 1-2 weeks where my skin got really oily and broke out, but it cleared up greatly after I stopped using cleanser.
-The simpler your skincare routine, the better (and the more likely you’ll do it)
-Ironically the less makeup and the less often you wear makeup, the better it will look. Let your skin breathe. My makeup routine consists of 5 products right now; under eye concealer, brow gel, mascara, lip and cheek tint, eyeliner. That’s it. Now if I want to, I’ll add bronzer, highlighter, eyeshadow, or lipstick to that, but I mostly keep it simple and I can do it in under 5 mins. Or I just go makeup free. Channel your inner Alicia Keys.
-Essence’s eyebrow gel is great and it’s around $3
-Coconut oil is great for taking off stubborn eye makeup. Just don’t get it in your eyes, your vision will be blurry for about 15mins afterwards if you do.
-Mario Badescu is a great skincare brand that’s really not that pricey, around the same price as Burt’s Bees (another great brand)
-Real Techniques and Eco Tools have great affordable brushes (ELF does have good brushes but they have a tendency to shed)
-Matte lips look great, but your lips will be reminiscent of the Sahara Desert at the end of the day.
-Homemade brush cleaner recipe: 1/2cup Witch Hazel (Alcohol free), 2tsp Castile Soap, 1cup Water, 1tsp oil (I like olive oil, almond oil, and grape seed oil), and 5-10 drops of essential oil (Lemon is great for cleaning, Lavender is multipurpose).
And the biggest tip:
-Nobody is going to care if your eyebrows aren’t the same, your eyeliner isn’t even, you have a pimple, you have a full face of makeup, or heck you’re not even wearing makeup. If they do, well then, their opinion doesn’t really matter now does it? Also they need to think long and hard about why they care so much about something that doesn’t affect them.
Disclaimer: I’m not a professional, just an enthusiast. Don’t blame me if these tips don’t work for you, everybody’s skin is different. What works for me might not work for you.
Hey ya’ll!😘 I got my makeup brushes fromSheIn and I love them! The quality of the brushes is amazing, and I was a little bit shocked to be honest, because they’re so cheap. I bought these for $17.51. I’ve used the brushes a few times and I think that they blend well and they give a nice finish. I really recommend these!
